X
Himan truly didn’t know how to face Hall these past few days.
Since that day, she often found herself in a daze back home.
Because on that one day, she learned that Hall’s understanding of theology was impressive, and he hadn’t slacked on his swordsmanship at all.
He was outstanding, but he had never told her.
Why didn’t he tell her?
Did he think it wasn’t necessary, or…
The more Himan thought about it, the more flustered she became.
She didn’t know what to do, so for the past few days, she had been both ignoring and watching Hall, wondering when she could strike up a conversation with him.
As it happened, she found him standing in front of the announcement board today, staring at the information about the Demon God’s Labyrinth.
This actually made Himan a little happy.
‘Is Hall finally starting to get serious?’ she thought.
Conquering the Demon God’s Labyrinth was, in fact, an important mission for the entire Papal State, and even the Western Continent.
The entire labyrinth consisted of one hundred floors from top to bottom, each floor’s space was enormous, and it was inhabited by a large number of monsters. After the thirtieth floor, each level even had a gatekeeping lord.
So far, the first forty floors had been completely conquered; floors one through ten had even been converted into special commercial and residential areas.
Some areas from the tenth to the fortieth floor were marked as forbidden zones, serving as production and operation bases for some of the Papal State’s confidential projects.
Of course, ordinary tourists could also visit via the designated central roads in each section, and adventurers would use these routes to explore deeper areas below the fortieth floor, mapping the labyrinth, recording monster information, and other useful intelligence.
Handing this intelligence over to the Adventurer’s Guild would earn them corresponding rewards.
Furthermore, if you could prove you had reached the fiftieth floor, you could be directly evaluated by the Adventurer’s Guild as a Throne of Silver of Holy Light.
This was a symbol of identity and status. With Hall’s strength, if he was truly not inferior to Moyel, applying for a Throne of Gold of Holy Light at the Papal State’s special agency shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
‘But it’s best to take it one step at a time,’ Himan thought, not wanting to rush.
But Hall, standing opposite her, hesitated.
He was planning to go get the hidden puzzle rewards by himself. How would that work if he brought Himan along?
Was he supposed to pull out all sorts of strange rewards from various places out of thin air, right in front of her, like Doraemon?
He would definitely be suspected.
Besides, maintaining distance from Himan was something he had to do. The past few days had been good. Why would Himan suddenly approach him today and even invite him to the Demon God’s Labyrinth?
Compared to before, her attitude hadn’t done a complete one-eighty, but it was at least a ninety-degree turn.
“I don’t think so.”
He chose to refuse.
Hearing Hall’s refusal, Himan’s eyes widened slightly.
She couldn’t quite understand.
But she quickly accepted this fact.
“Hmm… you’re refusing, Hall?”
“I think it’s best to go to that kind of place alone. Going alone is a better way to prove one’s own ability.”
Hall found an excuse.
If he had said he didn’t want to go at all, the excuse would have been too obvious, and he might have easily become the target of Himan’s criticism again.
“Is that so?”
Hearing him say this, Himan felt it did make some sense.
Hall now liked to do things independently, which was very good.
Just like last time in the Sixth District Underground Street, she was quite surprised when she learned Hall had gone straight back.
In her memory, since Hall had saved Leticia and Moyel’s lives, shouldn’t he have come straight over to accept their praise?
Instead, he went back all by himself.
This kind of personality, not seeking rewards and not being ostentatious.
It was very similar to the Hall from her childhood memories.
“Yes, I plan to go to the Demon God’s Labyrinth alone in a few days. If you have a Knight Order mission that requires you to go, it’s also best to go alone. Only by going alone can you prove your true ability.”
To Himan, Hall’s words made perfect sense.
She was completely unaware that she had been subtly manipulated by the young man in front of her.
“Alright then, good luck, Hall. Although going to the Demon God’s Labyrinth alone is the kind of courage the second son of the Faxtius family should have, you should still be careful.”
“Okay, I’m heading back now.”
Having successfully sent Himan away, Hall scanned the announcement board again and saw some other news, like “The Swordsmanship Delegation from the Kingdom of Cateline is about to arrive.”
But he wasn’t interested and prepared to leave.
He hadn’t taken two steps before he saw Lenny again.
This guy was probably watching him and Himan from the shadows, based on the game’s plot.
Lenny, after being humiliated, would secretly wait for an opportunity to make a move on Himan.
However, in the game, the character who triggered such a plot should be a main heroine.
Not a side character on a villainous path like him.
But Hall wasn’t going to tolerate Lenny. The current timeline was only the beginning of Christine’s route.
There was still some time before the other heroines’ plotlines officially began.
So he said.
“Lenny, what are you looking at?”
Caught in the act, Lenny had no choice but to emerge from the nearby bushes.
There was a hint of displeasure on his face; he hadn’t expected this Hall fellow’s eyesight to be so good.
“Nothing. Just surprised that the young master of the Faxtius family has time to look at the announcement board. Shouldn’t you be on a date with some young lady right now?”
“I’m not interested in your words, but I’m warning you to stay away from Himan.”
Hall said coldly.
He was now imitating the dialogue from the game when other heroines recruited Himan into their party.
Speaking like this would accelerate Lenny’s side quest, because the Lenny side quest related to Himan was the only one that posed a real threat to her in the early stages.
If it weren’t for him, Lenny probably wouldn’t have had the guts to make a move on Himan for another six months or so.
But due to a series of his actions, it seemed he had invisibly accelerated the game’s plot progression.
This corresponded perfectly with the game’s own high degree of freedom.
In that case, before he left Saint Louis, he might as well accelerate Lenny’s side quest to its final stage, then find a way to make Lenny no longer a threat to Himan, or just get rid of him directly.
After all, if Himan encountered an unsolvable problem with Lenny in the future, and no other heroine stepped in.
According to the game’s tendencies, a twist of fate would still lead Himan to seek him out, and might even let her know about his ability to replenish magic.
That would be a pain.
“Hah, what right do you have to warn me? On the contrary, you’re the one who should stay away from Himan. With so many women, isn’t that enough for our Young Master Hall?”
Lenny felt the aura coming from Hall.
An aura that displeased him, one that had greatly displeased him in his memory.
In his memory, from the first time he saw him at a noble’s banquet as a child.
That little boy in black clothes had also told him to stay away from Himan.
From that moment on…
“Just remember my words.”
Hall continued to imitate the lines of the game’s heroines, uninterested in whatever Lenny had to say.
If nothing unexpected happened, after provoking Lenny this time.
Lenny would, according to the game’s plot, join that campus team on the announcement board and head to the Demon God’s Labyrinth.
Then, he would encounter Himan, who was on a Knight Order mission, on the way, continuing to trigger the plot.
At that point, he just needed to have someone else step in to save Himan.
Preferably…
A related heroine from the game, or even a staff member from the Judgment Bureau would do.
In short, it couldn’t be him.
“Hall, without your family’s status, do you really think you can overpower me?”
Faced with Lenny’s continued furious shouting, Hall didn’t respond further.
Lenny was destined to be a stepping stone anyway.
And so, he left.
But when he returned to the Faxtius family estate.
He heard some unexpected news.
“Young Master, the Young Miss has returned.”
Hall couldn’t help but frown.
‘This dear sister of his is a true yandere.’
