Chapter 2: From the Heart

The Heavenly Dao’s normally pale surface suddenly turned faintly crimson.

“Otherworld Visitor, the Child of Destiny is currently facing a crisis and requires your assistance.”

A big question mark appeared in Lin Lingshu’s mind.
So soon?
It hadn’t even been half an hour since she transmigrated.

Could they give her some time to adapt first?

Wasn’t this like forcing a duck onto a stage?

The next moment, filled with doubts, Lin Lingshu was forcibly transported by the Heavenly Dao into a small forest.

Run!

Behind Wang Shuheng, a wild wolf the size of a calf was chasing him.

Wang Shuheng gripped a sharp iron shard tightly in his hand, his eyes flashing with ruthless intent.

If escape proved impossible, then he would deal this beast a brutal blow—even at the cost of his life.

The wolf lunged forward.

Wang Shuheng rolled to the left, narrowly avoiding disaster.

However, the wolf’s sharp claws still tore three slashes into his clothes.

Wang Shuheng felt his back burning, as if some liquid was seeping out.

The soreness from overexerted muscles continued to nag at him relentlessly.

“Heh heh heh, nowhere to run now, huh? Good. For someone like me, living or dying makes no difference.” Wang Shuheng murmured to himself.

Meanwhile, Lin Lingshu stood in the small forest nearby, peeking at the scene.

The Heavenly Dao orb beside her kept urging her on.

Its smooth, slightly pale surface was increasingly covered in crimson streaks, as if the entire sphere was being consumed by blood.

Listening to the Heavenly Dao’s urging, though she wanted to step in and help, her trembling body told her she was way too scared.

She wasn’t one of those battle-crazed maniacs who could wield a sword and level up deep in the mountains right after transmigrating.

Besides, those people came with systems pre-installed.

She was practically a blank slate and not even properly registered.

Let alone slaying wolves, she hadn’t even killed a chicken before.

“Otherworld Visitor, please act quickly. The Child of Destiny is about to perish. If the Child of Destiny dies, it will cause massive damage to this world,
and you won’t be able to return home.”

The Heavenly Dao continued to urge, the blood-red strands wrapping the orb threatening to transform it into a blood sphere. The voice of the Heavenly Dao now had a faint human-like intonation.

But Lin Lingshu paid no attention.

Her mind was filled with bitter complaints about the Heavenly Dao.

You dragged me to this world and turned me into this ridiculous state.

And now you’re sending me to my death?

A wolf the size of a calf?

Damn it… was this wolf raised on steroids or something?

Yet, as a mere fish on the chopping block, Lin Lingshu had no choice but to figure something out.
“Heavenly Dao, do you have some kind of… uh… powerful skill?”

Worried that the Heavenly Dao might not understand Earth slang, she quickly rephrased the question more formally.
“Otherworld Visitor, by activating the spiritual power within this body, you will be able to kill the wolf.”

“Heavenly Dao, how do I activate the spiritual power? The novel didn’t explain that.”

“Focus your mind, concentrate your energy, unify your spirit, and use your will to guide the latent spiritual power within your meridians…”

Lin Lingshu listened to the Heavenly Dao’s teaching, slowed her mental state, and imagined the spiritual power inside her body being summoned.

A wisp of aqua-blue energy surged from Lin Lingshu’s hand.
Feeling the water-elemental spiritual power, she let out a faint smile. “I know what to do next.”

The next moment, she directed the water-elemental energy into the storage ring worn on her left middle finger, while synchronizing her will to interface with the ring.

A water-blue longsword materialized from thin air.

The sword was one foot eight inches long, its blade faintly blue— an inferior spiritual tool originally used by the novel’s original protagonist, embedded with thirty-nine seals: Cold Crystal (Han Li).
