Chapter 98: The Lunatic Who Couldn’t Let Go

Hae-jin wanted to feel him closer. He slid his hand slowly down Lee Chae’s back. Electric tingles raced from fingertips through veins. Lee Chae struggled harder— but Hae-jin didn’t release.

“Guide Jung Lee Chae, arms open—hug me. You keep pulling away; I’m about to revert to thug mode. If you behave, I might hold back.”

Lee Chae’s body shook violently.

“Let go! I told you—people will see.”

The hamster finally baring fangs—finding his old self. A little more push, and memories might flood back. Hope swelled. Hae-jin stroked his cheek.

“Now you sound like my Chae. When you called me ‘Representative,’ I thought—stranger?”

“Back off, you lunatic.”

“Okay, okay!”

He pretended to loosen— then yanked with the other arm, pulling Lee Chae flush against him. Sharp inhale. Ears crimson— earlier resentment melted.

Cha Hae-jin, you pushover.

“Keep telling me to back off—getting excited?”

“Stop the crazy talk.”

“You know? The more you say that, the more turned on I get. So just endure it.”

Struggling body suddenly stilled. Fox plotting again? Pleasant tension heated his stomach.

So you still like thug Cha Hae-jin.

“If you hate it—run again. Or scream? National asset now—kidnapping you gets me arrested. But guess what? If it means being with you, I don’t care about prison.”

“If I run… you’d let me?”

“Dream on. Listen, Jung Lee Chae. One year finding you, two fighting geezers to get you back. Took forever to have you again—think I’ll let go?”

Fingers traced lips. Pale turned red where touched. Curious about inside—slid finger in. Hamster nipped. Mind-blowing jolt.

“Held back too long…”

Pressed tongue, scraped palate. Mouth burning hot.

“Might devour you whole.”

Eyes closed—fingers explored wet softness. Familiar thrill coursed body— never forgotten intensity revived.

“Yes—this. The Jung Lee Chae guiding that drives people mad. Missed it.”

Lee Chae glared wide-eyed. Determination sharpened gaze.

Stop—any more and I’ll lose it.

Silent plea— but Lee Chae didn’t stop.

Angry face turned blank. Cold emptiness—no emotion. Mouth dried.

Robot in my absence—became more robotic.

Hae-jin had turned machine into feeling human. Yet Lee Chae shed habits too easily. As if love never existed.

Wanted to ask: Were our memories nothing? How’d you discard habits so fast? Knew his love bigger— but believed some reciprocated.

“Please release me. I’ll faithfully perform duties as Legion guide. I’d prefer formal speech—but as representative, informal is fine. As you said—I can’t go anywhere.”

Every word salted wounds. Years breaking walls—erased in separation.

Closed, opened eyes— blank Lee Chae stared. Cute, pretty, soft face intact— eyes empty.

Misbehave—react? Don’t need affection—just anger, yelling, hitting—anything but indifference.

“I’ll go now.”

Turned. Hae-jin spun him back by arm. Cold gaze hit face.

Mind filled with anger, spite— Hae-jin smiled icily. Twisted unnatural.

“Guide Jung—guiding before leaving? Said you’d perform duties faithfully.”

Flicker of emotion— brow furrowed briefly, smoothed.

My absence made robot more robotic.

Rage flared again.

Thug Hae-jin tamed by model-student Lee Chae— yet he discarded taming easily.

As if love never was.

“Please understand. It’s my duty.”

Clean, emotionless answer— Hae-jin crumbled again.

When Kang-wook said return to Legion— Lee Chae thought dream or madness.

Desired it too much—hallucinating?

Pinched cheek, blinked—reality sank in. Kang-wook real. Not joking type.

“H-how? Nothing changed. My ability still—”

Trembling—couldn’t finish. Kang-wook continued.

“Don’t know details. Orders: stop monitoring Jung Lee Chae, send to Legion.”

“Stop monitoring—but sending feels like order, not choice?”

Pale, shaking—Kang-wook gave facts.

“Order, yes. Monitoring ends—my task is delivery.”

“Doesn’t make sense. War not over, ability not gained.”

“Don’t know more.”

No reaction from Lee Chae—frozen tremor.

Kang-wook waited. No response—spoke.

“I know feelings unchanged. Instead of worrying future—focus on escaping surveillance, meeting lover. You’ve suffered enough.”

“Really no idea? I can’t go like this. Left without word—how face him? Headquarters—why? Separate then reunite? I’m not a doll. Toying with people has limits.”

Rare—Lee Chae unleashed. No tears—red eyes, trembling lips showed suppressed crying.

Kang-wook powerless—patted shoulder, listened to endless venting.

Thus—half-forced, unknowing— Lee Chae dragged to Legion.

Hae-jin leaned in—lips brushed. Soft, moist, sweet as memory— but cold.

Ice drops—body froze. Lee Chae motionless.

“Hate it?”

Whispered parting lips— Lee Chae could only nod.

Eyes met. Hae-jin’s lips curved— predator mocking caught prey.

Body shuddered.

Headquarters release changed nothing.

Hae-jin still S-rank, war ongoing— life uncertain, Lee Chae still useless in crisis.

He wouldn’t know why Lee Chae left. Good—he’d think betrayal, move on faster.

So Lee Chae bit hard, demanded release. Knowing refusal.

Expected— best: hide overflowing emotion, stay as emergency guide.

Living without seeing forever— or beside him hiding feelings— equally cruel.

But clear: no return to before.

Endure, Jung Lee Chae.

Resolved—spoke carefully.

“I don’t hate it.”

Instant—pushed onto sofa. Wrists pinned—pain.

Hae-jin straddled, kissed face everywhere. Violent kisses on suppressed body—smelled dry wood.

First guiding—intense thirst, hunger…

Forgotten sensation revived— ice picks stabbed body.

What did you do till now? Why no proper guide? Why endure alone, Cha Hae-jin…

Hatred directionless, endless pity, guilt for abandoning, desire to have, responsibility not to— tangled mess tore heart.

The lunatic devoured cold lips— guide hid fire inside, choosing silent suffering to stay.

Reunion— love and pain intertwined.

No escape for either.
