Chapter 37: A Scheme and a Horn

‘Good heavens…’

‘Can you believe the words coming out of his mouth?’

Allyrose couldn’t help but sneer inwardly, observing Jason’s feigned concern.

This guy was still fixated on making her apologize to Vivian.

That had merely been a casual promise she’d blurted out when Luo Jia had… well, not ‘detained,’ but rather ‘touched’ her into a daze.

She hadn’t expected him to take it so seriously.

“Uh…”

After a moment, seeing the reluctance on the long-haired girl’s face, Jason grew anxious.

He furrowed his brows, then forcibly reined in his temper before speaking again.

“Wife, be good, listen to me! Vivian is in a good mood right now, and this is the perfect chance to apologize. If you go and say sorry, she’ll definitely forgive you for that incident with the Holy Light test at the monthly meeting. Then you two can finally get along!”

“Oh… but…”

Allyrose feigned a troubled expression, turning her head away, then muttered softly with a hint of exasperation: “Now? Apologizing to Vivian so suddenly, in front of all these classmates, darling, this…”

“Oh, for goodness sake, what’s the point of clinging to your pride at a time like this!”

Seeing Allyrose’s continued reluctance, Jason immediately shouted in exasperation.

After raising his voice at her, he noticed the long-haired girl’s face suddenly turn cold.

He then awkwardly cleared his throat twice, furrowed his brows, and resumed his imposing demeanor as he spoke.

“Wife, I’m thinking of you here. This is the best time to apologize. You embarrassed Vivian in front of the entire school, so you should at least apologize to her in front of your classmates. That would be much better! If you only apologize in private, Vivian might not be particularly pleased…”

“Hmm…”

Allyrose, having been yelled at, let out a cold laugh.

After a moment, she tilted her head and questioned Jason with icy precision: “Hmph, so… in your eyes, darling, I should sacrifice my own pride for Vivian’s happiness?”

“I… I’m doing this all for your own good, wife! If you don’t get along with Vivian, it won’t benefit you at all.”

“And… it would put me in a very difficult position. Besides, wife, you really need to adjust your attitude. Miss Vivian is a Saintess now; shouldn’t making her happy be the natural thing to do?”

****

‘…Heh~’

Listening to this man’s utterly divine reasoning, Allyrose was almost amused to the point of laughter.

Yes, how wonderful. Under the guise of ‘doing what’s best for her,’ he merely wanted her to humble herself before Vivian in front of the entire class, capitalizing on Vivian’s current moment of glory.

It was all so the ‘true Saintess’ could fully reclaim the prestige she had lost during the Holy Light test.

Claiming it was for her own good… In reality, if she and Vivian didn’t get along, it would make things difficult for him, wouldn’t it? He wanted to have his cake and eat it too.

With this thought, Allyrose sneered inwardly, yet outwardly, she showed no hint of it.

Instead, she deliberately adopted an expression of profound understanding, nodding obediently to Jason before speaking.

“I understand, husband. I’ll go apologize to Vivian in a moment. You can go back now; I just need to think about my words…”

“Mm, well then, that’s good!”

Hearing this, Jason finally nodded in relief.

He quickly turned around, told Allyrose, “I’ll head back now!” and then scurried off toward Vivian with eager steps.

‘Heh~’

Watching his eager retreating figure, the long-haired girl blinked, a wave of disgust rising within her.

‘Alright, alright, alright…’

Since that’s the case, doesn’t he want Vivian to continue basking in glory?

Well then, she would certainly help the ‘Saintess’ make an even bigger splash!

‘Hmm… but at the moment, she didn’t seem to have any items that could really spice up the scene, did she?’

Considering this, the girl chuckled softly a moment later.

She then closed her eyes tightly and… opened the system interface in her mind.

System Shop, activating—!

In the blink of an eye, a large window materialized before the girl.

Unlike the System Shop Allyrose had imagined, the current shop’s item slots appeared remarkably sparse.

Instead of a dazzling array of goods, there were only four distinct windows.

Above these four windows, a countdown timer displayed: [Shop Refresh Remaining Time: 13:47:54].

It seemed to imply a refresh would occur in approximately fourteen hours.

That would likely be a refresh at midnight… And what would be refreshed were probably the items in these four slots, right?

“Ugh…”

For some reason, upon seeing this, Allyrose felt a surge of annoyance, almost like PTSD.

She was reminded of certain games where one had to wake up at eight every morning just to check the shop…

Well, they were probably all similar.

This blasted system was playing scarcity marketing with her!

Once a good item appeared, she’d be forced to spend her hard-earned Sponsorship Points, fearing she might never see it again, wouldn’t she?

It was practically a Sponsorship Point recycling program.

‘However…’

Despite her complaints, it seemed… the System Shop really *could* offer good items!

After a moment of grumbling, Allyrose’s eyes suddenly lit up.

She had spotted a truly desirable item in the shop listings:

[War Horn: Gold Quality. Upon use, rapidly attracts all low-intelligence demonic beasts within a fifty-meter radius towards the user. Price: 100,000 Sponsorship Points!]

‘Well… well, I’ll be!’

This item was actually Gold Quality.

To be honest, at first, Allyrose was utterly baffled.

She couldn’t quite grasp its purpose.

A horn… and one that automatically attracted dangerous demonic beasts upon being blown?

Wasn’t this just a pure suicide artifact?

Was this thing broken?

How could this be a Gold Quality item?

Wasn’t it just a trap for herself?

But… a moment later, the long-haired girl understood!

‘Oh, no, no, no!’

Allyrose lightly tapped her head, chiding herself for being so slow-witted just now, her mind unable to connect the dots.

For her current situation, this was clearly a monster-gathering artifact!

After all, killing demonic beasts was an excellent way to collect precious materials and acquire Holy Light energy.

For merely 100,000 Sponsorship Points, she could significantly boost her leveling efficiency…

And incidentally, she could also add fuel to the ‘true Saintess’s’ ‘great cause,’ couldn’t she?

Why wouldn’t she seize such an opportunity?!

Thus, Allyrose immediately waved her hand decisively.

The girl already had 160,000 points in her account, so a mere 100,000 points was a trifle to spend!

‘Confirm Purchase!’

The very next second, a small, quartz-material horn appeared in Allyrose’s hand.

The long-haired girl smiled faintly, and then… unnoticed by anyone, she blew it gently—!

RATTLE-RATTLE-RATTLE—!

Instantly, the previously boisterous students fell silent once more.

Everyone looked around in bewilderment, wondering…

The Demonic Lizards were back?!

And this time…

They were enormous?!
