Chapter 37: The Unexpected Encounter

At the peak of the Purple Mist Peak, in a tranquil courtyard bathed in the scent of sunlight, a soft murmur echoed from an open window. Following the sound, one would quickly discover its source.

The murmuring came from a small fox spirit in the room. She lay on a soft bed, her eyes wide with shock, her arms stretched out rigidly like a small zombie, her expression one of sheer disbelief. Her small, delicate body was gently pushed down onto the soft mattress by a slender figure.

The reason for the fox spirit’s murmur was twofold. Firstly, her oxygen supply was cut off by a soft obstruction. Secondly, this soft demon was not content with merely cutting off her oxygen; it had dispatched an army of pink, soft soldiers to ravage her.

Under the relentless assault, Xiao Xixi felt her head swimming and her body weightless.

Inside an ancient, elegantly crafted wooden house, Bai Luozhu watched as Xiao Xixi’s eyes began to glaze over, savoring the soft, sweet scent of the young fox spirit. As the one conducting this act of plunder, Bai Luozhu’s heart was filled with a myriad of unfamiliar sensations—joy, excitement, tension, thrill, and a deep sense of indulgence.

She knew that this peaceful state of mind was not conducive to ‘cultivation,’ and that cultivators sought detachment from worldly desires and a serene, far-reaching mindset. However, after years of cultivation, Bai Luozhu, as a young woman, was curious about certain things.

During her years of cultivation, she had witnessed many pairs of male and female disciples engaging in ‘instructional’ behaviors at night. Due to her character, Bai Luozhu had no friends, and the thought of a romantic partner was a distant dream. Yet, despite her lack of a partner, she had always wanted to experience such things.

Now, looking down at Xiao Xixi, her newly transformed and naive little fox spirit sister, Bai Luozhu felt an inexplicable attraction. She could feel the sweetness emanating from the young fox, and her own heart began to race.

‘What do I do? I feel like I’m losing control,’ she thought. As this idea crossed her mind, her right hand, which was gently stroking Xiao Xixi’s silver, silky hair, inadvertently pulled the young fox’s head upward.

This movement elicited a series of broken, breathless sounds from Xiao Xixi. After what felt like an eternity, Bai Luozhu finally released her helpless little sister, gently placing her head on the pillow. Bai Luozhu took a moment to calm her breathing, reciting ’70 iterations of the Heart-Clearing Incantation’ in her mind. Only then did she speak.

‘Xixi, how do you feel now?’

Xiao Xixi, her senses hazy, heard her sister’s question. In that moment, she didn’t know how to respond. If she were honest and said, ‘It’s so sweet and soft,’ she feared it might give her sister the impression of a ‘lewd fox.’

Thinking about her image, Xiao Xixi suddenly remembered her original plan to distance herself from her sister. But the memory of what had just happened made her head ache. So, did this mean she had ‘consumed’ her sister? If Ye Chen, the protagonist, found out, wouldn’t he chop her down?

Remembering the protagonist Ye Chen’s growth weapon, the ‘Demon-Slaying Sword,’ and his classic mid-section slashing move, Xiao Xixi shuddered. She recalled how, when reading the novel, she thought this protagonist setting was overly dramatic. But now, imagining herself as Ye Chen’s enemy, and considering her own ‘Qi Condensation’ level, if he knew she had taken his future wife, wouldn’t he just slice her down? Then her life would be reduced to -999999.

This terrifying thought made Xiao Xixi’s blush fade to a ghostly pallor. When she looked up and saw her sister Bai Luozhu’s moist, glistening lips, she felt a low voice whisper, ‘My great sword is thirsty for battle!’

White Luozhu, waiting for her blushing little sister to respond, saw the color drain from Xiao Xixi’s face, leaving her looking timid and frightened. Seeing her little sister like this, Bai Luozhu felt a moment of guilt. After all, what had happened between them was unusual, even if it was pleasurable. Her actions had clearly frightened her young sister, who had only recently transformed and knew little of the world.

But this guilt quickly dissipated. After all, her actions were necessary to fulfill her master’s task of helping the young fox spirit speak! With this justification, Bai Luozhu’s guilt lessened. To ensure her actions didn’t leave a lasting shadow in her sister’s heart, she quickly embraced Xiao Xixi, who was cowering on the bed.

Xiao Xixi, thinking her sister wanted to continue the ‘language’ lesson, tensed up and covered her mouth with both hands. Her small, pale hands, with fingers splayed, covered her slightly parted lips, and her long lashes framed her shining eyes, blinking rapidly.

Bai Luozhu found this display incredibly adorable and was tempted to repeat the lesson. But remembering her sister’s frightened expression, she decided to maintain her image as an older sister and reassure the young fox.

‘Xixi,’ she began, ‘you’ve only recently transformed into human form, so you might not understand. Unlike animals, humans are close and affectionate with each other. Take that poem, for example; it speaks of how humans, through physical contact, learn about warmth. Remember, soft skin is not a bad thing.’

Xiao Xixi was confused. Based on her 18 years of language classes, she knew the poem she had just read, ‘Interface with Leaves,’ was a landscape poem, not about human relationships. As she pondered the discrepancy between the poem’s meaning in this cultivation world and her modern education, Bai Luozhu continued.

‘You see, Xixi, humans are close with each other. And since we are both disciples of Master Su Mei, it’s only natural for me, as your senior sister, to help you with your cultivation. So, there’s no need to be afraid; it’s all part of being sisters.’

Xiao Xixi realized that her sister, Bai Luozhu, truly saw her as a naive little fox spirit. And now, as the first female lead, she was blatantly attempting to ‘seduce the fox’ right in front of her!

Looking at Bai Luozhu, who was smiling and holding her close, Xiao Xixi felt something was off. Her sister’s current behavior was far removed from the upright, honest, and brave female lead from the original story.

Just as Xiao Xixi was reflecting on the divergence between the story and the original plot, a cold, emotionless voice echoed in her mind.

‘Ding! Congratulations, host. You have modified the plot, causing ‘Su Mei’ to advance. Current level: Early Yuan Ying (60).’

‘Congratulations, host. You have completed a hidden task and been rewarded with a rare item: Beast Language Bell (foot accessory).’

Hearing the system’s notification, Xiao Xixi felt that the story was even further from the original plot.
