Chapter 43: The Demon King’s Reply and a Royal Summons

Sensing the mood had taken an awkward turn, Luo Jia quickly cleared his throat, subtly shifting the conversation.

The twin-tailed fox girl blinked in a daze. It took a moment, but then she suddenly snapped back to reality, letting out a sharp gasp.

‘Oh…’

‘It’s true, I almost completely forgot about defecting to the Demon King!’

‘My attention had been solely on this handsome demon in front of me, but well… this is exactly what I wanted!’

‘I was just planning to heavily fund the enemy, to sponsor the Demon King’s army, and now the Demon King has replied to me?’

‘Perfect!’

‘How considerate!’

A while later, the twin-tailed fox girl nodded triumphantly. She then extended her hand, her eyes narrowed into a mischievous smile.

“Alright, alright~ The little white-haired one is quite efficient. Quickly, hand over the Demon King’s reply to me~”

Luo Jia nodded, then retrieved an envelope from his pocket. The girl eagerly snatched the letter, tearing it open to pull out the paper, and then fixed her gaze upon it!

[To Miss Allyrose:

Read. The content of your letter was difficult to understand. Please do not write like that again in the future. Regarding your desire to join the Demon King’s army, I am willing to accept you. Please continue to remain in the Capital as an internal informant for my army. When necessary, I will provide you with the assistance you require. You may continue to communicate through Luo Jia.

—The Demon King]

‘No, wait?!’

After finishing the letter, the twin-tailed fox girl silently pouted for a long moment. She then turned her head, her face full of resentment, and stared intently at Luo Jia.

“Little white-haired one… are you sure this letter wasn’t written by you?”

“Ah…?”

For a moment, Luo Jia felt a flicker of panic. Mainly… mainly because this letter truly *was* personally written by the Demon King. Could it be… could Allyrose have guessed through the handwriting?! It shouldn’t be! He had even deliberately altered his writing style…

“No… how… how could that be?”

“Hmph… Was it truly written by the Demon King himself?”

“Yes, yes, absolutely!”

The silver-haired youth nodded emphatically. Finally, as cold sweat trickled down his back, he watched the twin-tailed fox girl silently tear the letter to shreds, causing him to gasp sharply.

“Damn it—! You’ve got to be kidding me! Argh… I’m so mad, I’m so mad, I’m so mad! Seriously, is there something wrong with this Demon King? I sent such a heartfelt, substantive letter of defection, and they dismissed me with just two or three sentences? And most importantly… they didn’t even send me any reward items, or even a channel to fund the Demon King’s army! What kind of defection is this? It’s practically defecting to nothing at all!”

“Uh… oh dear…”

Luo Jia fell silent for a moment, watching the furious girl. In truth, Luo Jia wanted to defend himself a little. Actually…

The Demon King hadn’t even decided what to do with Allyrose yet, let alone assign her any tasks.

‘Oh dear… this…’

“Ahem… Don’t, don’t get so agitated! The Demon King might just be too busy, and hasn’t focused on the Capital for now…”

After a pause, Luo Jia waved his hand, deciding to first comfort the girl. Allyrose pouted upon hearing his words, then slapped him on the head, speaking in a gloomy tone:

“That’s more like it! Hmph… Luo Jia, I’m not writing any more letters. Later, you write another letter for me. The content should be, ‘No money, no work!’ Ahem… Demand that the Demon King’s army provide me with operating funds! Yes… I probably won’t need anything else for now, and it wouldn’t be useful anyway! I just want money! The first batch of funds… I want five million dinars! When you deliver the letter, you must be firm. No haggling, understood?!”

“Five… five million?”

Upon hearing the girl’s demand, the corner of the silver-haired youth’s mouth twitched. Good heavens, five million. She truly dared to ask for so much.

He only received a hundred thousand from that wretched woman each month. Five million would be fifty months’ worth of ‘sponsorship’…

Was the Demon King essentially paying to ‘keep’ himself?

‘What kind of kinky master-servant play is this?’

Well…

Despite his speechlessness, Luo Jia eventually nodded, agreeing to the girl’s request for now.

‘Well…’

‘Although five million might be difficult, and the Demon King’s army doesn’t have human currency, I should still send the girl a few gold bars later. After all, she voluntarily defected to my Demon King’s army!’

“Hmm~ That’s more like it! Sigh~ Little white-haired one, see, isn’t it better to follow big sister me~? This Demon King is just a cheapskate! A stingy old miser! Hmph…”

The more the girl spoke, the angrier she became. After a moment, she suddenly slammed the table again, then closed her eyes and continued to ramble.

“Hmph, what kind of rubbish Demon King! Always acting like they’re so powerful, yet they keep the Demon King’s army holed up in demon territory, never directly attacking the Capital?”

“Hey… tell me, little white-haired one, could this so-called Demon King just be some otaku who never leaves the house, playing games all day? Maybe they even hide a few dresses in their closet, secretly taking them out to wear when their subordinates aren’t around~”

Hiss—

Instantly, the silver-haired youth silently gritted his teeth, feeling his temper flare. ‘No, no, no… who, who’s an otaku?!’

‘Don’t project your own assumptions onto others!’

‘This woman…’

Luo Jia’s blood pressure surged so high that he wished he could immediately summon someone to attack the Capital. But if they really did… Miss Allyrose wouldn’t want that.

‘Truly… needs some discipline!’

“How about it? There’s no harm without a comparison, right? Little white-haired one, don’t you agree~? Hey, why are you looking down?”

“Ahem… I’m, I’m fine… You’re right!”

Only after a pause did Luo Jia lift his head and speak to Allyrose. The twin-tailed fox girl then narrowed her eyes, nodding in satisfaction. Then, as if suddenly remembering something else, she extended a finger to emphasize a point to Luo Jia.

“Oh… right, I almost forgot to remind you! Ahem… Don’t add any of what I just said to the letter! When you write it, you must express my sincerity, respect, and admiration for the Demon King! Understood?”

‘Where is this admiration, I ask you?!’

After a moment, Luo Jia nodded helplessly, then gritted his teeth and whispered, “I… I understand!”

‘Hehe~’

Thinking this, Allyrose nodded contentedly, just about to continue pulling Luo Jia out to play… when suddenly, a loud banging erupted at her front door.

‘Hmm?’

The twin-tailed fox girl turned her head in confusion, wondering who could be making a sudden visit. Mostly because, in the original story, she wasn’t living in her own home at this point. ‘Hmm…’

‘Could it be Jason?’

The first person the girl thought of was her scoundrel fiancé, and she was somewhat reluctant to open the door. However, after a moment, the twin-tailed fox girl overcame her laziness, walked to the main door, pulled it open, and saw her homeroom teacher, Teacher Yuna.

“Quick, Allyrose, come with me! His Majesty the King wants to see you!”

“Eh?!”
