Chapter 93: The Irregular Hunter’s Obsession

Irregulars. To put it simply, they were nothing more than mutants.

Yet, despite being easily dismissed as mere errors of the world, people regarded them with profound caution.

The meaning they held was far from simple.

Beneath the publicly known facts, a much deeper truth lay concealed.

The Rains, who had suddenly appeared one day and begun attacking humanity, shared the same wavelength as the Irregulars.

They possessed qualities so akin to the Rains that they were considered Rains born in human form, rather than truly human.

The evidence that Irregulars were not human was undeniable.

Deceased Irregulars left no corpses behind; their bodies decayed instantly, much like those of the Rains, dissolving into mere lumps of mucus.

Such a phenomenon was utterly impossible for a human.

Upon discovering these facts, governments and alliances captured Irregulars for experimentation.

There was no need for sympathy towards them. The knowledge gained from experimenting on Irregulars proved equally applicable to the Rains, and these experiments had saved hundreds of millions of human lives.

Irregulars were not human. They were nothing more than repulsive Rains wearing human disguises.

These horrifying creatures would weep and beg for their lives when first captured, only to reveal their true Rain nature once the experiments began.

Rains and Irregulars were enemies of humanity. Han Do-hoon had never once doubted this truth.

After all, they were the monsters who had murdered his parents and incinerated his hometown.

Han Do-hoon’s life had been shattered by the Rains from its very beginning. He had lost his entire family in a terrorist attack, surviving only through the sacrifice of others.

He believed this life, spared by others, would inevitably be used up in service to still more people, then vanish.

A dry, passionless life, devoid of regrets. He approached every operation with the utmost efficiency, placing even his own life on a perfectly balanced scale.

His choices, which often bordered on self-sacrifice, earned him widespread praise.

Yet, Han Do-hoon meticulously maintained independent relationships, keeping others at a distance.

Given his nature, it was inevitable that Han Do-hoon chose to become an Irregular Hunter.

“Let’s see who this Irregular candidate is this time.”

Levian rummaged through the list of Irregular candidates as if choosing a gift box. He was a man who had been forcibly reassigned to Irregular hunting after killing too many of his comrades.

Legally disposing of people was his true calling. However, upon hearing this assessment, Levian would protest to Han Do-hoon, claiming, ‘No, *you’re* more suited for it!’

“Oh, this is a jackpot! A massive catch! Deputy Commander Hayden, can I take this one?”

Levian, rarely this excited, waved a profile around. Han Do-hoon snatched the profile from the wildly gesticulating Levian, whose face was flushed with anticipation.

“Please, let me handle it this time. I’ll do a really good job.”

Levian, deprived of the profile, pleaded anxiously. Han Do-hoon slowly reviewed the candidate, and then understood why Levian had been so thrilled.

Candidate: Jin Sa-yoon.

Affiliation: Asia, South Korea Branch.

Rank: S-class.

Symptoms: Despite their high rank, they possess an abnormally stable bio-wavelength, and their computational metrics are unrealistically consistent. Many examination processes were omitted; re-examination is required.

An S-class. Such a rank was incredibly rare among Irregulars. Moreover, the Korean branch was known for its excellent computerization among many branches.

For such a person to have hidden their identity here suggested a high probability of government involvement.

“An S-class! Are you kidding me? How strong are they? An S-class Irregular must be stronger than me, right? Would they be different in bed, too? I’m so excited. And their face is pretty.”

“Don’t even think about messing around with the candidate. Besides, you’d even consider that with an Irregular?”

“What’s the big deal? They’re just pretty on the outside. You wouldn’t understand because you haven’t ‘tumbled’ with an Esper before.

The stronger they are, the better it feels to ‘tumble’ with them. Hayden, instead of constantly wearing that suppressor and being so nauseatingly prudish, why don’t you try meeting an Esper yourself?

Levian made a circular gesture with his fingers, pointing suggestively.

“Who knows? If you release all that intense sexual frustration with a strong one, your Guide efficiency might even improve! So, while I’m in Korea, why don’t you give it a try?”

In the profile picture, Jin Sa-yoon stared straight ahead with an indifferent expression. As Levian had noted, their appearance was quite striking.

Outwardly, they were flawless, a person capable of living like royalty in a province or any place beyond the central government’s direct gaze.

“If I, a master of seduction, were to give you a special tip, Espers usually have high pride, so they’re likely to refuse at first.

That’s when you tempt them with a 3P. You insert a Guide in between. Then, when they let their guard down, you pounce from behind! This has a very high success rate.”

‘…’

“Of course, no sane person would share a s*x partner on the battlefield, but it’s that effective!”

Such a person was actively operating in the open, deliberately concealing their true identity. An S-class Irregular would surely know how Irregulars were treated.

“Hey, are you listening to me?”

It was clear that something was being hidden. Han Do-hoon found himself intrigued by Sa-yoon, though in a different way than Levian.

“I’ll go to Korea.”

“What? No, wait a minute! You can’t be serious!”

Han Do-hoon took Jin Sa-yoon’s profile. Ignoring Levian, who was throwing a fit behind him, he entered his name into the mission handler field on the system.

A flight to Korea was subsequently arranged.

Korea. It had been a long time since he had returned to his homeland.

The moment Han Do-hoon encountered Jin Sa-yoon, he felt a profound sense of strangeness.

It was as if he had suddenly been pulled from a terrible dream.

He had never experienced such a feeling before. The reality of moments ago, intertwined with a Guide, now felt dull and trivial.

Despite receiving higher quality guiding than he ever did on the battlefield, he felt an inexplicable dissatisfaction, as if something crucial had been missed.

‘Their real appearance is far better than the photo.’

Caught in that entrancing sensation, Han Do-hoon momentarily failed to recognize that the person before him was Jin Sa-yoon, the one he was supposed to observe.

It took a thorough glance for him to realize this was indeed the same Irregular candidate from the picture.

Yet, Jin Sa-yoon showed no interest in Han Do-hoon. Despite surely knowing his influential name in Korea, they regarded him with the same indifference one might show an inanimate object.

Only Han Do-hoon, consumed by a strange pull towards Sa-yoon, grew restless, desperate to touch them. He felt that doing so would quench this inexplicable thirst.

At that moment, the fact that the other person might be an Irregular held no importance for him.

Regrettably, Han Do-hoon had no idea how to approach someone he was interested in.

He didn’t know how to express his affection for the object of his desire.

‘Would you be interested in a 3P?’

The only approach Han Do-hoon knew was the method Levian often employed. Unsurprisingly, Jin Sa-yoon simply reacted with annoyance and ignored him.

‘That’s probably the normal reaction.’ At the time, Han Do-hoon watched Sa-yoon leave with a sense of regret, yet managed to suppress his impulse.

Sa-yoon was an Irregular candidate. He needed to keep his personal feelings separate from his professional duties.

Acting on a sudden impulse would jeopardize the mission. This temporary urge would soon subside, so he resolved not to complicate things unnecessarily by giving in to desire. He would take his time and approach them slowly.

Han Do-hoon decided to investigate Jin Sa-yoon over time.

However, after thwarting the Seoul terrorist attack, Han Do-hoon’s world completely transformed.

‘…’

He had expected to die in the explosion, and then by the poison he had ingested with his own hands. He thought everything was over, but then he saw a white ceiling.

The sensation of a perfectly stable body and clear, noise-free vision felt alien. Was it due to extended rest?

Even then, Han Do-hoon thought it was just a rare phenomenon.

‘If I could be in this state, losing consciousness sometimes wouldn’t be so bad.’ Thinking this, Han Do-hoon, while recuperating, kept having strange dreams.

In his dreams, Jin Sa-yoon and Han Do-hoon would tumble together in bed. Without speaking, they would only moan, their bodies passionately intertwined as they explored each other.

What was astonishing was that despite knowing Sa-yoon was an Irregular, the experience was so satisfying that he didn’t want to believe it was just a dream.

What was happening? Perhaps, as Levian had suggested, his prolonged sexual frustration had finally manifested in this way. As he pondered this, Sa-yoon entered Han Do-hoon’s sight.

Sa-yoon, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, was both the same and completely different. Their surroundings seemed to glow with a golden light.

The scene around them blurred, and only Sa-yoon came into focus. His gaze was inexplicably drawn to them.

Instead of the mysterious pull of their first meeting, an intense thirst overwhelmed Han Do-hoon. Levian’s voice echoed in his ears.

How amazing it would be with an Esper of the same rank. He had previously dismissed the idea because he had never felt such an urge before, but now the words resonated alluringly.

‘Would they cry out beautifully, like in my dream? What would it feel like to touch that body with a clear mind, without a suppressor?’

Even knowing Sa-yoon was an Irregular in human guise, his eyes kept drifting back to them. This might be a side effect of the dream, or perhaps proof that he had finally gone mad.

Though disoriented by the inexplicable phenomenon, Han Do-hoon was certain of one thing: ‘That person is mine. I cannot let them go to anyone else.’
