Before long, Karin had created a new body through magic.
“That was exhausting.
And it cost me quite a few precious materials too.
But as long as it’s for little Rosa, I don’t mind at all.”
“I’m grateful you made me another body, but…” I looked at the body she had created, and my eye couldn’t help twitching.
“This is just me with a different hair color.
Couldn’t you have made something else suitable for me?”
She was right—the tiny girl curled up in the magic circle was unmistakably the spitting image of my original form, the only difference being her silver-white hair.
The cute girl looked as if she were having a sweet dream, a faint smile still lingering at the corners of her mouth.
While I had no reason to object to her making a female body, did it have to be another adorable loli?
“I can’t help it.
I don’t know many alchemical spells for creating bodies—I only know how to make lolis, nothing else.”
“No way.
You’re definitely lying to me.
You big liar!”
Ha, only knows how to make lolis?
Did she think I was stupid?
I glared at her angrily.
“Oh my, even when you’re angry, little Rosa is adorable!”
Karin just kept smiling and teasing me.
I had no choice but to accept the reality of the situation.
I lay back on the bed, closed my eyes, and used magic to extract my soul, pouring it into the new body.
When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I noticed was the significantly reduced magical power and the marked decline in my ability to control it.
The feeling I’d just experienced had been incredible.
Now… having weaker abilities and no emotional fluctuations felt incredibly awkward.
Meanwhile, my original body lying on the bed transformed into a beam of pitch-black light that shot into a small black box beside it.
So that was my phylactery.
I glanced at the two of them… Hm?
The boy, Frey, had a strange expression on his face.
“What’s wrong?”
I asked bluntly.
“No, nothing.”
That made it even more suspicious.
What had happened?
The whole body-switching process had only taken a few seconds—what could possibly have occurred in that time?
“Alright, I’d say the timing is about right.
I’m going to start drawing the cross-dimensional magic circle now.
As for the monsters it’ll attract, I’ll leave you to handle them.”
Karin spoke up, interrupting my thoughts.
It seemed they were about to leave.
They’d barely been here long, and Karin seemed to have a good relationship with me—why the rush?
With my missing memories, I was hesitant to ask too many questions.
Ah… what a hassle.
“Fine.”
I could only agree for now.
I watched Karin draw the cross-dimensional magic circle, memorizing it so I could look up books later on how to leave this damn demon realm.
I’d figure things out once I got back to the human world—staying in the demon realm was clearly not an option.
“Then I’ll head outside.
Safe travels.
Goodbye.”
“Mm, goodbye.”
After memorizing the magic circle, I used a short-distance teleportation spell to return to the entrance.
Just as expected, the monsters outside the tower were starting to stir.
They slowly gathered at the edge of the territory they’d never dared approach before, facing off against me from a distance.
As time passed, the number of demonic beasts outside the tower began to reach dangerous levels.
Before long, as the magical energy released by Karin’s cross-dimensional magic circle grew stronger, those massive, hideous beasts completely lost what little rationality they had left, charging toward the lich tower in a surging, unstoppable tide, heedless of the danger!
I panicked.
This—this was too many.
How was I supposed to deal with this?
Karin didn’t know I only knew simple spells—this was a disaster waiting to happen!
But the moment those monsters entered a range of about fifty meters around the lich tower, the tower and the ground surrounding it suddenly erupted with magical light in all sorts of colors, forming countless magic circles.
In an instant, the scenery around the lich tower became dazzlingly radiant.
I could feel an overwhelming amount of mana in the air, madly pouring into those magic circles.
Moments later, flames, blizzards, and bolts of lightning were conjured in the air.
The magic circles began attacking the frenzied monsters outside the tower automatically.
On the ground, withered hands emerged from the earth—skeletons and zombies crawled out one after another.
They charged forward, engaging the monsters in fierce battle.
For a time, the area around the lich tower was filled with the screams and roars of monsters, along with the explosive sounds of magic striking their targets.
Corpses quickly piled up like mountains, and blood stained the earth red.
Yet not a single one of those pitiful creatures managed to get anywhere near my feet.
I figured this must be the tower’s built-in defensive mechanism.
It made sense—if a powerful monster attacked while I was away, there had to be some way to deal with it.
Defenses were inevitable; if I’d thought of that earlier, I wouldn’t have panicked.
It seemed I didn’t actually need to do anything—just stand by and watch.
Just as I was about to relax, I suddenly felt a… high-energy presence.
Yes, I could clearly sense an overwhelmingly powerful being somewhere in the distance, carrying an amount of magical energy far exceeding my original body’s, racing toward my lich tower at incredible speed!
Now what?
Did the cross-dimensional magic circle attract something like that too?
The lich tower’s defensive mechanisms were powerful—strong enough to easily repel the simultaneous attack of countless demonic creatures.
But I had a feeling that something surpassing my original body’s power would be more than capable of breaking through.
“Holy crap, what the hell is that?!”
In the distance, a massive pitch-black creature was hurtling toward me through the sky.
It looked like an enormous black dragon, its body as huge as a small mountain.
The sight left me completely stunned.
But wait… I had the feeling that the high-energy reaction I’d sensed earlier wasn’t coming from the dragon itself, but from something it was carrying on its back.
Soon, the colossal black dragon reached the tower and landed on the open ground beside it.
The wind pressure from its landing sent the numerous monsters and their corpses flying, clearing a large open space.
Boom.
The moment the dragon’s feet touched the ground, it caused a decent-sized tremor, and the cracks spreading across the earth testified to its immense power.
Just landing on the ground was enough to repel that surging tide of monsters—this dragon was absolutely terrifying!
And that was just the thing carrying whatever was on its back.
According to what I’d read, a lich in its separated soul-and-body state was supposed to be calm, wise, and not prone to emotional fluctuations.
But under these circumstances, I was still panicking.
My intuition told me this being had come for Karin and her unfortunate student.
That woman really knew how to cause trouble…
The being on the dragon’s back then jumped down.
“Hmph.
Since I, the King, have graced you with my presence, hand over the person immediately.”
Standing before me was a figure clad entirely in black armor—even his face was hidden beneath his helmet.
I had no idea how he could see anything.
But regardless of his appearance, the evil aura and overwhelming energy radiating from him made my heart tremble with fear.
Who on earth was this big shot?
Even my maid seemed to have sensed the abnormal situation, hurrying out of the tower to my side.
“M-Master… wh-why would the Demon King come here?”
“Ha?”
