Chapter 7: What’s Our Slogan?

Looking at myself in the mirror that Karin had specially opened for me, I had to admit—the necklace really did look beautiful on me.

But that was me.

That was me.

Every time I thought about the fact that I was now an adorable loli, I felt a little pang of despair inside.

“Good.

Now I can rest a bit easier… Frey is leaving tomorrow.

I barely got to talk to you this time, and now I have to say goodbye again… I really miss the days when we studied together.”

From the way Karin treated Rosa, those two must have been very close in the past.

What a pity…

Seeing Karin’s slightly wistful expression, I wavered.

“You said earlier that we’ve been exchanging letters for the past two hundred years, right?

Tell me how we communicated.”

“Is that so…” Karin looked at me gently.

“Sure enough, even though your personality has changed a lot, little Rosa is still kind at heart.”

…I just felt sorry for her, that’s all.

Karin and I chatted for a while longer, and I learned a lot of common knowledge about this world.

Strangely enough, though, by the end of our conversation, Karin kept telling me to listen to Frey’s advice when I was out there.

How odd.

The Witch Association’s verdict on Karin came quickly.

“After discussion, the Grand Witches have unanimously decided to sentence you to twenty years of house arrest,” Sophia announced coldly.

Just as Karin had predicted, the punishment wasn’t severe.

She’d caused a huge mess… well, maybe not that huge.

“This punishment… really isn’t that bad.

Why is that?”

“No, actually, for me, it’s still pretty heavy.”

“…”

Did she just want to go out and have fun that badly?

Still, this Witch Association was surprisingly… harmonious and friendly?

Though Karin’s expression when she said that was a little serious… strange.

The next day, I was finally leaving.

“Frey, you’d better take good care of Rosa.

If anything happens to her, I’ll have your head!”

What the heck was that?!

But before I could object, Frey spoke up first.

“Wait, this isn’t what we agreed on.

Teacher, weren’t you having Rosa the Great protect me?

Why—”

“Shut up, you’re so annoying.

Are you defying me?”

“N-no, never.”

…Karin was really tyrannical with Frey.

Anyway, after saying goodbye to Karin, we set off.

I didn’t know the way, so I just floated along behind Frey.

We ran into a few demonic beasts along the way through the forest, and I happily killed them in all sorts of creative ways with my magic.

I had to say—bullying small-fry like this was really… satisfying!

At first, Frey kept his hand on the sword at his waist, scanning the surroundings warily.

But after I kept taking down monsters one after another, he grew numb to it and just walked along calmly.

Yes, Frey.

No need to worry.

Leave the little things to me.

Be grateful for this senior’s consideration for her junior!

“Um, Master…” Frey suddenly spoke up as we walked.

“I don’t get many chances to cross a forest like this… could you leave a few monsters for me to practice on?”

“…”

Oh, you should’ve said so earlier.

I felt so awkward.

Here I was, a senior, stealing all the kills from my junior… I could feel my face heating up again.

“Okay, fine.

I won’t do anything from now on,” I answered quietly.

I tried to keep my voice steady to hide my embarrassment.

I could only be thankful that I was behind him.

And so we continued on peacefully—Frey fighting monsters ahead while I followed behind.

“Frey, what’s your background?”

I asked lazily, lying on a tree branch.

Over the course of the journey, I’d seen his skills.

Just as Karin had said, Frey didn’t use any magic at all.

He dealt with monsters purely with his sword.

I had no point of reference, so I couldn’t judge how strong he really was, but seeing him walk all day without even breaking a sweat, he probably wasn’t weak.

Karin had said he had the makings of a king… I was getting a little curious.

“Didn’t Teacher Karin tell you?

My father is the Duke of Bomi Territory, the Imperial Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, and an Elector.”

Well, well.

So he was a noble.

But that didn’t tell me much—what exactly made Frey so special?

Watching him busily roasting meat under the tree, I fell into thought.

After a few more days of travel, we finally reached a town.

“Whew, I can finally get a good night’s sleep tonight.”

Frey let out a breath, his expression relaxed. “Master, let’s find something to eat first.”

I didn’t need to sleep or eat, so anywhere was fine with me.

“Alright.

But you don’t have to call me ‘Master’ outside—it doesn’t suit my current appearance.

Just call me Rosa.”

“Uh, okay.

Miss Rosa…”

…Whatever.

After walking a bit, we found an inn.

It looked a little run-down, but it was packed with people.

Most of them looked like adventurers straight out of an RPG—armed, loud, drinking and eating without a care.

A woman who seemed to be the owner stood behind the counter, which was stocked with all sorts of drinks.

A waitress bustled about delivering food.

The whole place was filled with a lively, cheerful atmosphere.

What a fun scene.

It made my heart race and gave me an urge to go on adventures myself.

This really was another world.

We found an empty table and sat down.

Soon, the waitress came over—her face was red.

Huh?

Red?

I glanced at Frey.

He was a blond pretty boy, sure—not as handsome as I’d been before transmigrating, but it wasn’t strange that he’d catch a girl’s attention.

…Wait, why wasn’t it strange?!

Why had I been an unnoticed virgin before transmigrating, and now I had to watch this guy be the popular one right in front of me?

Ugh, so annoying!

The girl kept glancing my way while asking Frey what he wanted to order.

Wondering who I was to Frey?

Hmph.

I’m going to be a third wheel!

What are you gonna do about it?

I glared at the girl with a bit of annoyance.

Was it my imagination, or did she turn even redder?

Just then, a few adventurers walked in laughing loudly and immediately spotted the girl at our table.

“Hey, boss lady, this girl looks just like you.

Is she your daughter?”

“I like her.

How about she marries me?”

“She’s way cuter than you, you know.”

They joked as they headed for the counter, and the owner lady brought out several large mugs of beer with a smile.

“Now, now, I’m not even married yet!

That’s my little sister, so don’t you go getting any ideas.”

“Got it, got it.”

It seemed they knew each other and were just messing around.

But the waitress shot back angrily, “I’m a boy!

And sis, don’t tease me either!”

She snuck another glance at me as she spoke.

Wait.

Did I just hear something wrong?
