Lu Renjia turned toward the leader of the bullies.
Lin Yuyan was the granddaughter of the school’s chairman. She had always burned with jealousy over Bai Luomeng’s stunning beauty and her soft, easily cowed personality.
To make it worse, Murong Yunhai, the school’s icily handsome heartthrob, was showing an unusual interest in Bai Luomeng.
That was more than enough to drive this petty-minded young lady insane. Day by day, her persecution of Bai Luomeng grew more excessive.
Until now, it had come to this.
“Lin Yuyan.” Lu Renjia was completely unafraid of her so-called chairman grandfather, and said coolly, “What a shame, the chairman’s own granddaughter. Don’t you have any sense of decency at all?”
Lin Yuyan gave a dismissive sneer.
“And here I thought some hero had crawled out from somewhere. Turns out you’re nothing but a nobody!”
“Right, a nobody!” The crowd of onlookers burst into laughter.
“Rules? What are rules?” Lin Yuyan, dabbing at her unnaturally pale face, opened her mouth in a mocking grin like a monster that ate people. “In this school, I am the rule!”
She tilted her head and smiled.
“Get it, you nobody?”
Ugh… Lu Renjia couldn’t help pressing his forehead. No wonder this was a fictional world set in reality. People like this didn’t even know how their arrogance would end them.
A sigh was a sigh, but he still had business to handle. He couldn’t just leave the female lead lying on the floor, right? That would be too disgraceful.
“Come here.”
He waved Lin Yuyan over, signaling that he had something to say to her.
“Hmph, you want to beg for mercy?” Lin Yuyan thought he would bow to her power like all the other teachers and students and raised her chin in smug victory. “I’m telling you, no way!”
“I’ve been giving you way too much face!”
With lightning speed, Lu Renjia rushed over and gave Lin Yuyan a crisp, stinging slap across the face.
Ssss!
Those watching instinctively sucked in cold breaths when they saw the vivid red mark appear on Lin Yuyan’s face.
He… how could he dare?!
“You think one slap is all you’re getting?”
Under Lin Yuyan’s terrified gaze, Lu Renjia smiled, raised his hand in plain view of everyone, and slammed it down with another thunderous crack!
“Someone! Someone come!”
Bearing the pain, Lin Yuyan scrambled toward the crowd, calling on her underlings to block Lu Renjia.
“Let me teach you what rules really are!”
The body the Black-Hooded Woman had given him was nothing like an ordinary man’s. With punches and kicks, he sent the underlings who swarmed him toppling over.
“Rules exist so that scum like you, who use your connections to bully others, get punished!”
Lu Renjia caught up with her, raised his palm high, and slapped down hard again.
Crack!
Another bright red mark appeared on her other cheek.
Lin Yuyan turned and fled toward another group of people.
Lu Renjia smoothly kicked aside whoever blocked his path, whether they were her lackeys or not. Anyone who had been watching coldly or laughing on the sidelines was not innocent either.
You all wanted to watch the fun? Then let all of you become the fun!
“Rules exist so that someone like me, who can’t stand the sight of you, can repay you properly!”
Crack! Another loud slap.
Lin Yuyan was nearly crying. Who could have expected such a completely unreasonable monster like Lu Renjia to charge in?
“Rules…”
Lu Renjia paused, and a devilish smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
“…exist to keep idiots like you from getting beaten to death one day!”
He grabbed Lin Yuyan, seized her by the collar, and began slapping her relentlessly.
Ora! Ora! Ora! Ora!
Even with his strength held back, Lin Yuyan took a full circle of seven times seven, forty-nine slaps!
Repent!
With a kick, Lu Renjia sent Lin Yuyan flying out of the classroom, her head in a daze.
“Go on. Take your boss to the infirmary.”
Lu Renjia turned his head back with a cold glance. Everyone in the classroom had long been scared stiff by his ferocious behavior.
Only after quite a while did a few people step out, carrying the unconscious Lin Yuyan away without even turning their heads.
Ha. A bunch of useless trash who only bullied the weak.
Lu Renjia walked slowly toward Bai Luomeng. The crowd in front of him parted as if facing its natural enemy, opening wide like receding water.
‘Are you a hero fallen from the sky?’
Bai Luomeng stared blankly at Lu Renjia like a prince from a fairy tale, descending from the heavens to save her from fire and water.
‘Uh… looks like I accidentally showed off too much.’
Satisfied with his beating, Lu Renjia felt embarrassed to catch sight of the snow-white skin Bai Luomeng had exposed as she unconsciously lowered her hands.
‘What are you looking at? That’s not for your eyes!’
Lu Renjia shot a vicious glare at the stunned boys around him, making them drop their heads in fear, not daring to say a word.
“Come on. Get up, talk to me.”
He took off his jacket, helped Bai Luomeng fix her clothes, held her hand, and declared to the crowd with imposing arrogance.
“Bai Luomeng is my long-lost sister! From now on, anyone who wants to bully her will have to deal with me first!”
The boy’s arrogance was even greater than Lin Yuyan’s had been. Yet nobody dared say anything.
After all, if Lin Yuyan could be beaten like that, what were they, a bunch of nobodies, to provoke him?
“You! Give me your phone!”
Lu Renjia casually fished a cell phone out of someone’s pocket and calmly dialed a number.
– “Hello, is this the Commission for Discipline Inspection? Yes, I’m a student. I’d like to file a report.”
– “What? You’re asking who I am? From the Bai family! Understand?”
– “Remember that well, or you’ll be the one in trouble.”
Then he made another call.
– “Hello, is this Old Master Bai? It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is that I know where your daughter is.”
– “Mm. I can’t tell you her exact location right now. You should know these are sensitive times. Once you’ve cleaned up your own mess, I’ll tell you. And don’t go trying to find me. That would be bad for both of us. But right now, you need to help me with something.”
Everyone around stared at Lu Renjia’s calm audacity, their mouths hanging open. Even if they didn’t know who “Old Master Bai” was, given what had just happened, they could tell this guy was far from simple.
“I hope you’ll keep your mouths shut about what just happened.”
Lu Renjia wore a malicious look on his face.
“If I find out any of you blabbed…”
“…then you’re in for a world of misery!”
He made a threatening face, sending ripples of fear through the crowd.
“Heh, hehe, hahaha!”
Bai Luomeng suddenly burst out laughing. But as she laughed, she couldn’t stop herself from crying.
“You… you’re so funny!”
Bai Luomeng found it absurd, Lu Renjia’s peculiar expression that wouldn’t even scare a kindergarten kid.
Yes, absurd. The bullies who had tormented her all this time were now afraid of a face like that.
Lu Renjia wiped all the data off the phone, then tucked it into his chest, ignoring the owner’s pained look.
What a joke. This body was so poor it clanged. If it hadn’t been for the scholarship he earned with his excellent grades, he would have starved to death.
A phone was a rare luxury for him. Something he never dared to even think about.
Well, this was wealth taken from the rich to help the poor. A reward for a good kid like him with a heart full of passion.
He happily pocketed it. Now he didn’t have to worry about not being able to play games at night!
“Hey, stop smiling idiotically.”
Lu Renjia felt he might have accidentally raised her affection level a bit too high, so he decided to do something crude to balance it back.
“Pay me protection money!”
The people around were shocked again.
Seriously? She’s your sister now, and you’re still taking protection money from her?
“What are you all looking at! Everyone pays me protection money!”
Lu Renjia swept all the bills from Bai Luomeng’s hands in one motion. He glanced at them carelessly and frowned.
They were already old and worn. This girl had clearly not been living well…
“So, is my protection money enough?”
Seeing Lu Renjia with his brows tightly knit, Bai Luomeng was afraid that this man, the only one who could protect her, might leave her.
“Enough, enough.”
Lu Renjia waved his hand impatiently and told Bai Luomeng to help collect the protection fees.
“Come on, all of you. Line up. Men on the left, women on the right. Everybody, squat down with your hands on your heads. One by one!”
“Don’t you think you’ve gone too far, classmate Lu?”
A male teacher stepped forward with an imposing air.
“You’re all classmates! How can you snatch other people’s things like a robber?”
“Too far?”
Lu Renjia tilted his head. There was an oddly charming air to it.
“Then why didn’t you say you’re all classmates when Bai Luomeng was being bullied?”
His voice boomed, intimidating the other man.
“Then why didn’t you step up and say you’re all classmates when Lin Yuyan was screaming from my slaps?”
The man’s face turned grim.
Lu Renjia stepped forward, locking their eyes, his stare full of pressure.
“And why didn’t you say you’re all classmates when I was being called a nobody?”
The male teacher felt as if he were being stared down by a ferocious beast. He stammered, unable to speak.
“You wouldn’t want me to file a report about you, would you?” Lu Renjia said, word by word, pressing down on him. “You pervert who follows female students around!”
The man turned ashen, staring at Lu Renjia in disbelief.
“You’ll pay double!”
Lu Renjia shoved this sanctimonious scumbag aside and went back to ordering Bai Luomeng to collect the fees.
“Wow, rich kids really are different. There must be ten thousand in cash alone!”
Lu Renjia’s eyes lit up at the small hill of valuables, watches and cash and the like. The girl had carefully sorted them into neat piles.
“Here. You’re my sister now, after all. Don’t be so shabby.”
Lu Renjia handed most of the cash to Bai Luomeng, telling her to buy some pretty clothes and stop wearing that faded, patched old uniform all day.
“Really? Can I?”
Bai Luomeng couldn’t believe happiness had come so suddenly. She kept waving her hands.
“Take it!”
Lu Renjia said coolly.
“If I decide to give something to someone, no one in this world has ever refused!”
And he wasn’t wrong. He’d just arrived in this world after all.
“Mm. Thank you.”
Bai Luomeng accepted the money he shoved at her so forcefully and said, her cheeks flaming, “Brother…”
Ah!
Lu Renjia was immensely pleased inside!
