Chapter 2: The Awakening of Satan’s Daughter

1. Becoming Satan’s Daughter

Although the situation was absurd, Lucy analyzed it as calmly as possible.

This place was a virtual field that originally did not exist. However, unlike in the game, the laws of physics—including the five senses—seemed to function almost as they would in reality.

The old man named Dragos, who appeared to be an NPC, seemed unaware that this was a game.

Furthermore, the game’s convenient functions, such as the menu, were no longer accessible.

Considering all these factors, only one hypothesis made sense: the game had become reality, and logging out was impossible. An extremely dire situation.

Dozens of suspicions crossed Lucy’s mind, but she had no way to confirm them while sitting in the moving carriage.

After contemplating for a while, she looked out the window and spoke softly.

“Can you stop the carriage for a moment?”

“Yes, my lady. Understood.”

Dragos brought the carriage to a silent halt. As soon as the door opened, darkness engulfed the forest outside.

Lucy stepped out of the carriage. Dragos quickly grabbed a lantern and followed her.

“Where are you going?”

“…The toilet.”

“It’s dark. I should accompany you.”

“No need.”

Lucy wanted to be alone to conduct an experiment. Also, if Dragos was unaware that this world was originally a game, she needed to be cautious.

Dragos hesitated at her firm tone but soon bowed his head in apology.

“My apologies. I did not mean to be inconsiderate.”

“Hm? It’s fine. I’ll be back soon.”

“Understood, but please don’t go too far. Monsters often lurk in these woods.”

Leaving Dragos behind with a concerned expression, Lucy walked deeper into the woods.

Once she reached a point where the carriage’s lantern light was no longer visible, she stopped and looked around.

A dark forest.

No one watching.

Remaining on high alert, Lucy immediately began a series of experiments.

First, she attempted to open her status window.

Nothing happened.

Next, she tested whether her inventory was functional.

“Inventory.”

Pfft.

A sphere appeared in the air.

Fortunately, her item storage was intact. Lucy reached into the sphere and retrieved an item called the Return Stone.

This was a teleportation item that allowed a player to return to a designated location. If it worked, she might be able to escape this field and uncover the truth.

She activated it immediately.

A blue light emitted from the stone… and then—

Shatter!

The stone exploded into fragments.

Teleportation rejected! Was this place recognized as a dungeon? Or perhaps…

Dragos had mentioned that demons were only allowed to exist on the Demon Continent. That thought struck her now.

Should I ask him for more details?

Just as she was considering her next step, the sound of humanly voices emerged from beyond the bushes.

Soon, a green-skinned monster stepped into view.

A troll, leading a pack of goblins.

The monster was a familiar enemy from Ragnarok—a low-level creature with an average level of 10 to 20.

Normally, such creatures would be nothing more than trash mobs, but given the current situation, Lucy remained on guard and immediately took a combat stance.

There were ten goblins and one troll.

The troll, at the front, was the first to attack.

The large, green monster charged forward, shaking the ground beneath it.

Lucy remained unfazed. She extended her palm toward the troll and chanted.

“Magic Skill: Cause and Effect.” – a magic spell used in the game. Had it not worked, she’d have no choice but to run away.

But that was not necessary.

A red aura flared around her.

The troll paid no heed and lifted its massive axe high above its head—

Kwak!

—and then brought it down on its own neck, killing itself.

The effect was identical to the game’s mechanics.

The illusion magic Karma redirected an attacker’s strike back at themselves.

However, there was one stark difference here: the realism.

Red blood sprayed from the troll’s self-inflicted wound.

Its body collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

Death.

In the game, an enemy’s HP would simply reach zero, and they’d dissolve into dust. But here, it was gruesomely real.

And it wasn’t just the death itself.

“Greugh!!”

The goblins, now leaderless, shrank back in fear.

Normally, NPC monsters in a game attacked mindlessly, regardless of how strong the player was. But here… they had emotions.

This world is truly different from a game.

Intrigued, Lucy decided to conduct another experiment.

“Magic Skill: Hypnosis.”

A red light flickered in her eyes.

The goblins, caught in its glow, slumped their shoulders as if their minds had been drained.

Hypnosis was a skill that erased an opponent’s consciousness and forced them into submission.

Lucy issued a command.

“Kill each other.”

The goblins’ eyes turned crimson. They immediately began stabbing, slashing, and biting at one another with frenzied brutality.

Even as their own flesh was torn apart, they continued carrying out their master’s will.

Soon, all that remained was a blood-soaked battlefield.

At the overpowering scent of blood, Lucy instinctively stepped back.

Even the smell was identical to reality.

Just then, Dragos, having noticed the commotion, came running toward her, lantern in hand.

“Lady Lucy! Are you alright—?!”

His voice trailed off as he took in the grisly scene.

Lucy watched him carefully. He doesn’t know I’m a player. Will he find this unnatural?

She was prepared to use a high-level illusion spell to erase his memories if necessary.

However—

Instead of suspicion, admiration gleamed in Dragos’s eyes.

“As expected of Lady Lucy. At such a young age, you effortlessly defeated a group of goblins and even a troll.”

His voice was filled with genuine awe.

“Don’t you find it strange?” she asked cautiously.

“What do you mean?”

“That a child like me could do this?”

“How could that be strange? You are Satan’s daughter. It’s only natural for you to possess strength beyond common sense.”

According to Dragos, since she was Satan’s child, her overwhelming power was simply expected.

Lucy grew even more curious about this father she had yet to meet.

“Well then, let’s go. Your father is eagerly waiting.”

“…Yes.”

The Castle of Satan

After some time, the carriage arrived in a large city named Helligen and stopped before an enormous castle.

Satan’s Castle.

Contrary to Lucy’s expectations, it wasn’t a dark, ominous fortress. Instead, it was breathtakingly beautiful.

The towering walls were well-maintained, and the castle itself stood magnificently against the moonlit sky, resembling something out of a fairy tale.

She had never seen anything like this, not even in Ragnarok.

Lost in thought, Lucy followed Dragos as he approached the massive gates.

“Open the gate!”

At the sight of Dragos, the guards quickly obeyed.

“Eternal glory to Helatores!”

Dragos silently entered the castle, as Lucy followed, looking at the guards, smiling at everyone they made eye contact with.

Dragos led Lucy into the “imperial building” located closest to the gate. They were inside the palace.

The interior of the palace,  seemed to be modeled after architecture from the Renaissance era, and looked extremely luxurious.

Dazzling chandeliers, sparkling marble floors, and expensive art pieces adorned the palace.

“I don’t know who he is, but he must have an incredible amount of money.” Lucy thought.

Walking forward, a huge door was waiting for Lucy beyond the evenly laid red carpet corridor.

Dragos clears the way by the door.

“I’ll be waiting inside.”

“…Yes.”

I need to be cautious

Satan… the Great Demon… Absolute Evil… My so-called father… I cannot let my guard down.

Cautiously, she opened the door to meet him, mentally rehearsing her escape in case things went south

Clang—!
