Chapter 6 : Golden side

The main god of this world was a rather strange fellow.

He was a personal god who wielded transcendent power, a fickle being who sometimes directly intervened in the human world and twisted history at random, and the madman who kidnapped me.

The religious order that followed such a being could not be normal either.

In the first place, the god himself is a human trafficker who kidnaps decent people and uses them as his agents, so how could those who follow him be normal? They’re all crazy, aren’t they?

The pope and his close cardinal aides, whom I got rid of, were corrupt criminals from the start, so I suppose that’s that, but the other members of the order weren’t exactly normal either.

They lived their lives treating the worn-out scriptures as if they were some kind of sacred relic, chanting old-fashioned things like, ‘It’s wrong to kill people,’ ‘You must undergo a purification ritual after facing a demon to be safe,’ and ‘Even if they are devil worshipers, burning them is a sin.’

I mean, honestly, isn’t it ridiculous?

I’m in direct contact with the main god you guys worship, so wouldn’t I know his will better? And with the Demon King, evil gods, and outer gods running amok, what’s with all the morality talk?

…Anyway.

Among those chaotic, bizarre, otherworldly, fanatical crazies, there was one who stood at the very top.

That was the first-ranked sacred nun.

Miley Saint Lafia, commonly known as the Saintess.

Unlike the insane members of the order who obsessed over the main god and the scriptures, the Saintess, Miley Saint Lafia, showed a strange symptom of obsessing over the agent directly chosen by the main god.

So, for some reason, she was obsessed with me.

Honestly, it’s not incomprehensible.

If you break it down, I’m essentially an idol chosen by God, right? A saintess with high faith might be a little obsessed with God’s agent.

I mean, I’m an idol bestowed by God himself.

But I guess I was mistaken.

‘This psycho.’

I guess she’s obsessed regardless of the main god.

I sighed deeply, looking at Miley Saint Lafia, who was still pretending to be ‘normal’ during the interview.

Honestly, I had a lot I wanted to say, but…

“David.”

“Yes, Chairman.”

“Just hire her.”

Well, there’s probably no one in this world who would take better care of me than her.

Miley Saint Lafia.

No, Miley Mckay.

The butler is hired.

*

After Miley Mckay’s hiring was confirmed.

David Kim handed Miley Mckay the notes and documents he had recorded about Seong Won so far.

“Here, these are what I’ve investigated. They’ll be a good reference for the butler in serving the Chairman.”

In fact, Seong Won was an unusual, even unconventional, person among the super-rich.

Because of this, David Kim had experienced so many difficulties in assisting his ‘special’ employer.

Hoping that his successor would not experience such trials and errors, he diligently collected notes, characteristics, and precautions related to Seong Won.

‘…Looking at it like this, I really wrote a lot.’

He felt like crying a little, thinking about the hardships he had endured to accumulate that information. But thanks to his sacrifice, his successor wouldn’t have to go through such hardships!

And the person who would be closest to Seong Won from now on was the butler, Miley Mckay. Building a rapport with her now would prevent any future headaches.

‘The power behind the throne is always scary, you know.’

Well, there’s no need to make enemies with someone you’ll be seeing all the time. So, David Kim explained with a friendly smile.

“Actually, the Chairman has some… unique aspects. Of course, I doubt there are many super-rich who don’t, but…”

“……”

“Anyway, I’ve gathered all this, and I’ll do my best to hand things over, so let’s work hard together!”

David Kim politely greeted her and extended his hand for a handshake. All that was left was for Miley Mckay to grab David’s hand and shake it up and down.

But the other person doesn’t take his hand.

No, not only does she not take it, but she also looks at him intently with her hands hidden behind her back in an ‘at ease’ posture.

“…Uh, excuse me?”

“It’s not necessary.”

“Excuse me?”

David Kim’s smile cracked slightly at that answer.

He asked cautiously, just in case.

“What is not necessary?”

As if that was the trigger, Miley Mckay looked at David Kim with a gaze that seemed to look down on him. She murmured softly.

“Why do you think that something you’ve picked up in a few months, just by meaninglessly hovering around and jotting down a few words, is so valuable that you’re showing off by handing it over?”

Once again, David Kim’s face stiffened.

‘…What is this?’

No, honestly, it didn’t properly register in his mind.

Was he just openly provoked? Suddenly?

Bewilderment filled his face, but the brain of Yale graduate elite David Kim was still spinning fast.

‘Did I make a mistake?’

No, not really.

‘Then why? She was so polite during the interview?’

For now, there isn’t even a shred of politeness left.

‘Was that attitude just because the Chairman was there?’

But then why is she like this now? No matter what, it’s obvious she’ll be fired with this kind of attitude. Is this woman just acting out now that she’s signed the contract?

‘Percy, you moronic, low-class hick…! You said you’d recommend the top elite from the International Butler Academy, is this the top elite?’

Isn’t she more like a back-alley thug from the hood?

Heat rose to his head, but David Kim lightly pinched his thigh and regained his composure.

‘Yeah, it’s better to find out now.’

If this kind of person continued to hide her true intentions and lurk, then when she finally grabbed the doorknob, that’s when the real chaos would begin. Of course, by that time, he would have thrown in his resignation and run away, but honestly, it would be disgusting. And it would ruin his career.

“Ha, haha. I see. I apologize. My expertise isn’t in areas outside of finance, so I wasn’t sure. I suppose a butler would know more about that sort of thing than I would.”

So now is the chance.

‘I still have a closer relationship with the Chairman. So, I need to fire that woman now, while my words still hold weight.’

It’s a bit of a shame that she can speak Korean, but, well, I can probably find someone who can speak Korean.

Elite financier David Kim’s brain immediately produced the optimal answer.

David Kim sent out Miley Mckay, who was still looking a bit sulky, or maybe scornful, anyway, unpleasant, and immediately contacted Seong Won.

Surely, Seong Won wouldn’t abandon him, who had diligently assisted her for months, and use a sudden vixen. Seong Won is a strange person, but she’s not an idiot!

His calculation can’t possibly be wrong!

– “Hmm, let’s just use her?”

– “No, Chairman. Do you really want to see me go crazy?”

*

A minor problem had arisen.

What kind of problem, you ask? Our Saintess, as soon as I took my eyes off her, apparently caused a major incident.

Well, the look in her eyes when she looked at David Kim, who was beside me, wasn’t very pleasant, but I didn’t expect her to immediately run into him while I went to look at an apartment.

I wish you could have developed a little more patience, Saint Lafia.

But I have no intention of firing Miley. I need to find out how she got to Earth, and anyway, there’s no one who knows me as well as she does.

And honestly, it’s best to keep such a crazy person close to me, where I can control them.

Release her into this world? Who knows what she might do? It’s the golden answer to keep her by my side and hold her tightly.

So, I have no intention of firing her.

Of course, when I declared that, David Kim sang a chorus of ‘It’s unfair, it’s unfair.’

David Kim is also a necessary person for me. We’ve spent a few months together, and I’ve developed something like an attachment, and David is surprisingly good at managing money.

Indeed, David is good at his job.

Anyway.

To sort things out, I called my head butler.

“You called, Master.”

“Hmm. I heard there was a problem with David Kim.”

“I don’t recall making any particularly problematic statements. It seems there was a problem because I didn’t know David Kim’s personality. I must have unintentionally touched on a sensitive area or trauma.”

“I don’t know about sensitive.”

I crossed my arms and quietly looked at her. Miley Saint Lafia’s eyes wavered slightly, then she hesitated and looked down at the ground.

Only then did I slowly open my mouth. A language that no one on Earth had ever heard flowed from my mouth.

[“David Kim is essential to me right now, so I’d prefer it if you didn’t cause any problems in the future.”]

[“B-But!”]

[“He’s really a, necessary, person.”]

Miley froze with a shocked expression at my declaration.

Soon, her eyes turned slightly red. Seeing Miley biting her lip like a heartbroken heroine in a tragic love story made my chest feel like it was about to explode.

[“…I don’t know what you’re thinking, but David is a financial expert. That’s why he’s necessary. Miley, you can’t manage money!”]

Only then did Miley’s trembling stop.

I sighed deeply and said.

[“So, if possible, don’t fight. And if you fight, make up. You were in the wrong, so go apologize. Sincerely, until David Kim accepts it.”]

Understand?

Only then did Miley’s head slowly nod.

I sighed deeply.

Oh, these troublemakers.

Since the problem is patched up, let’s move on to the next one.

[“So. How did you get here?”]

Miley Saint Lafia is a person from another world.

I was originally kidnapped from Korea to another world, so it’s not strange for me to return, but for an otherworlder like Miley to come here is completely different.

‘I hope other guys aren’t coming over.’

If someone comes over with the power of another world, that would be a real problem. Wouldn’t that be a hunter story?

To my question, Miley said with a smile.

[“The main god sent me.”]

[“The main god? He just sent you? Without any cost?”]

Well, I guess he took away her power from her saintess days as a price. Honestly, it’s only because I’m at my level that I could come over with only my power taken away, but the saintess wasn’t quite at that level, was she?

To my question, Miley said with a bright smile.

[“The cost wasn’t that great.”]

[“What? Really?”]

No, that main god bastard. So he was only so strict with me? I’m suddenly getting really pissed off. Of course, I’ll forgive him since he gave me 27 trillion won.

But, it wasn’t like that.

[“Yes, when I offered all the holy relics stored in the holy land as a sacrifice to the main god, he clicked his tongue and sent me, you see?”]

[“……You sacrificed all of that, which was piled up like a mountain.”]

I looked at Miley with a disgusted face.

Indeed, this girl is crazy.
