Chapter 10: Meteorite

“Actually, I was a man an hour ago, and now I’ve become a woman… Do you believe that?”

Because her old clothes were too dirty and there were no suitable clothes available, Xun Qiu, temporarily wrapped in a blanket, said calmly.

“Compared to that, I’m more inclined to believe you were a girl disguised as a boy.

How could anyone just soak in a medicinal bath and get rid of their ‘root of troubles’ while their appearance remains unchanged?”

“Hmph, the truth is right in front of you, yet you deny it because of your narrow-mindedness.

You pathetic good-for-nothing.”

Xun Qiu, hiding under the blanket, glared at him.

“So when are you getting out?

Are you going to stay with a naked girl all night?

Tomorrow, I’ll tell Master and Madam Su that you’re a low-quality beast in scholar’s clothing who failed the imperial examinations three times…”

“You are truly invincible.”

The corner of Su Wantian’s mouth twitched.

“I’m starting to believe you now.

Otherwise, how could a girl develop such a sharp tongue… I’m staying just to ask if you want to eat dinner.”

Xun Qiu, who had never experienced “three meals a day” in her life, immediately jumped up.

“Eat, eat, eat!”

“Cover yourself with the damn blanket!”

Su Wantian grabbed the flying blanket and pushed her back onto the bed before her body was exposed.

“Someone will bring you clothes later.

Just follow the maid out… Sigh, why couldn’t you be Fairy Yun.”

Xun Qiu also realized that it wasn’t very appropriate for her to be too boisterous right now.

“I think so too.

Why couldn’t I be her… By the way, do you have a dog in your house?

I haven’t seen  Big Yellow for a few days, and I kind of miss him.

I want to pat his head.”

“I don’t think my family’s dog is very suitable for you to interact with.”

Su Wantian sighed.

“I think you’ll be a bad influence on it.”

“It’s fine.”

Xun Qiu spoke quickly, and with lightning speed, she stretched out a fair arm, patted Su Wantian’s head firmly, and then immediately retreated back under the covers.

“I’m not disappointed anymore.”

Su Wantian took a moment to process, then another, and then his face quickly flushed red.

“Xun Qiu!”

“What are you shouting so loudly for?”

Xun Qiu, who had retreated back into the blanket, was fearless.

“Hurry up and prepare dinner, dinner!”

Although he was very angry, being a “low-quality beast in scholar’s clothing,” Su Wantian couldn’t just lift the blanket and pull her out for a beating.

He had no choice but to curse and push the door open, preparing to go to the kitchen to see if the cook was still awake…

Dinner, of course, had been served, but that was an hour ago.

Now, it had to be prepared separately.

As Su Wantian walked down the path, he suddenly heard a strange sound.

He looked up and was surprised to see an extremely bright star suddenly streak across the sky, and then…

It crashed heavily into the faintly visible mountains in the distance!

Boom—

A deafening sound rang out, startling the entire city.

Su Wantian’s mouth was agape, shocked by the scene.

He had the urge to go and take a look, but he quickly gave up on this impractical idea and noticed the real point—with such a loud noise, even if the cook was asleep, he should be awake now!

‘Very good, I’ll go over and tell him it’s dawn now, hurry up and cook!’

A quarter of an hour later, Xun Qiu, who had changed into a simple cyan dress, saw her dinner, as well as the cook with a long, gloomy face…

The dining location was not in the Su residence’s dining hall, but a small table was set up right there in the kitchen.

Although this had a sneaky feeling and was not very respectful, Xun Qiu had never cared about such things.

She had even rummaged through swill buckets before.

The environment of the Su residence’s kitchen was top-tier among the places she had eaten.

Su Wantian was holding a book, flipping through it by the light of the kitchen’s oil lamp, and asked casually:

“By the way, are you still going to that brothel?”

Xun Qiu, her mouth full of grease, swallowed the chicken in her mouth.

“Going, why not?”

“For real?”

Su Wantian was suddenly shocked.

“Aren’t you a girl?

You’re going to a brothel?

Do you have the ability to go?”

“Hmph!

Can’t I just listen to the music and appreciate the mortal women’s skills in zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting?”

“I doubt you even have that level of appreciation.”

Su Wantian sighed.

“If you really want to appreciate zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting, you might as well be a guest in my father’s study.

He doesn’t know many characters, but he’s bought quite a few literary treasures.”

Xun Qiu casually wiped her mouth with her sleeve and said seriously:

“That’s still better than a certain someone who failed the imperial examinations three times…”

Su Wantian pressed his hand on the table with a sinister look.

“This kind of small table can be flipped over with a casual move.

Although cleaning up afterwards will be troublesome, but… Xun Qiu, you don’t want to miss your dinner, do you?”

Xun Qiu wanted to retort with a stubborn “I’ll still eat it even if it falls on the floor,” but on second thought, she felt that after latching onto a rich dog like Su Wantian, she didn’t need to push herself too hard, so she decisively chose to back down.

“Daddy, I was wrong.”

“Mmm, that’s more like it.”

Su Wantian put his hand down and went back to reading his book.

“No one’s fighting you for it.

Eating too fast is bad for your stomach.

Since you’re a girl, be a little more elegant, or you won’t be able to get married in the future.”

“You really think you’re my dad just because I called you ‘daddy’ once?”

Xun Qiu lifted her foot under the table and kicked Su Wantian.

“This is for interest… By the way, it’s a bit noisy outside.

Shouldn’t it be the middle of the night?

Why are there so many people?

Because of that sound just now?”

Su Wantian turned a page of his book.

“A meteorite fell.

It made quite a stir.

Some busybodies, or people dreaming of getting rich quick, are probably planning to go up the mountain at night to try their luck…

It has nothing to do with us.”

After he finished speaking, Xun Qiu’s curiosity also vanished.

She slowed down a bit, but still finished her dinner quickly.

After that, Su Wantian escorted her all the way back to her guest room before returning to his own room to rest.

“Why do I feel like I’ve really become her dad…”

The next morning.

Su Wantian thought that Xun Qiu would probably sleep in late, so he deliberately didn’t go looking for her in the morning.

But to his surprise, not long after he woke up, Xun Qiu came looking for him with a servant.

She had changed into a white robe and tied up her long, grayish-white hair.

At first glance, one would think she was a young master from some noble family, but with a little more attention, one could tell her true gender from her exquisite features.

“What’s with this getup?”

Xun Qiu said proudly:

“Only men visit brothels, so of course I have to be a man!”

“You… forget it, do as you please.”

Su Wantian sighed.

‘Anyone who can’t see that you’re a girl disguised as a boy probably doesn’t deserve to have eyes.

And if they still can’t tell after you speak, I suggest they give up on having ears too… Wait, doesn’t that mean that the me from the day before yesterday… hmm, she was dirty back then, and wearing coarse linen clothes.

It’s normal that I couldn’t tell.

And I was in a hurry to escape the monster, so I had no time to pay attention to details, so I didn’t notice.’

Su Wantian quickly convinced himself.

“By the way, did you have a maid dress you up?

I didn’t know we had someone so skilled in my house…”

“It was your mother.”

Su Wantian was completely stunned.

“My mother…?”

“Oh, I ran into Madam Su when I got up this morning.

Then she saw me and, for some reason, was particularly kind, pulling me over to ask this and that.

I finally said I was going out with you today, and she offered to help me get ready, so I agreed.”

Xun Qiu recalled.

“Madam Su also found this set of clothes for me…”

“Those were mine.”

“Oh, let me borrow them.

You’re not that petty.”

“You don’t understand what this means at all…”

Su Wantian’s face turned grim.

He knew in his heart that Madam Su had probably misunderstood something, thinking that he and Xun Qiu had some kind of special relationship.

Although this person was indeed good-looking, and no man who saw her could dislike her, but…

Humans and monkeys, dogs, and other human-like animals cannot be together.
