Chapter 107: Hidden Weapons

If Masaki Hinaki’s guess was correct, then it was clear that the other party’s goal had already been achieved.

Masaki Hinaki continued:

“Weakening our combat strength is not his mission. In other words, whether Canary lives or dies, as long as he completes his own task, their entire plan will inevitably succeed. I wonder if you’ve noticed, since we arrived here, the only suspicious person who has appeared is this one? If the intelligence we obtained is completely correct, then what about the others, besides him? Are they all on Ephnel’s side? I don’t think that the plan they have devised is a siege and kill operation aimed at Ephnel. Setting aside whether it can succeed, I simply think this kind of retaliatory behavior is meaningless. The other party’s commander was able to make us suffer such a huge loss and also possesses technology we have never seen before. They are certainly not a shallow person.”

As they spoke, Masaki Hinaki and Yonomori Nami arrived outside the building.

As far as the eye could see, the areas not illuminated by light were all pitch-black.

But if one retreated into the darkness, one’s vision seemed to return slightly.

Just then, a man’s voice came through the earpiece.

“Commander, I’ve found him!”

She and Yonomori Nami exchanged a glance, then disappeared into the darkness.

The man, wearing a blood-stained white work uniform, snuck into the building and squatted in a corner.

He was panting.

Running all the way had caused his stamina to decline somewhat, but for him, who had been trained for a long time, this loss of stamina was nothing.

He carefully glanced around, took out a metal box, and opened it.

A few strange black crystals appeared before his eyes.

Even in the dark night, these crystals seemed to shimmer with a dark glimmer, which was particularly intimidating.

He carefully took out one, placed it in the corner, then closed the box and turned to leave.

The exit of the building was brightly lit.

He cautiously glanced into the distance, then came to the window.

But just as he was about to climb out, a voice appeared behind him.

“Hey, mister, did you drop something?”

The voice was so close, not even half a meter away from him.

This sudden voice made the man’s heart almost skip a beat.

Cold sweat instantly soaked his back, and his scalp felt as if it had been splashed with chili water.

He had been paying attention to his surroundings all along.

He was very sure that there was no one behind him.

“Who!?”

Although it was indeed very unexpected, years of training allowed him to immediately assess the situation and suppress the wavering in his heart.

He almost subconsciously drew his dagger and swung it back, but the figure behind him took a step back and very calmly dodged his surprise attack.

At this moment, under the faint light, the man finally got a clear look at the person behind him.

It was a little girl who was only as tall as his chest.

But she was not an ordinary little girl, because the military uniform she was wearing didn’t look like a fake at all.

This little girl showed no fear even when facing the knife in his hand.

Her evasive maneuver just now was definitely not something an ordinary person could do.

And she had a gun at her waist.

“Who are you?”

The man asked cautiously, while quickly scanning his surroundings.

He didn’t see anyone else within his field of vision.

Or rather, if there were others, they should still be in a hidden state and unable to provide timely assistance.

He nonchalantly shifted his body slightly, using the girl’s blind spot to slowly reach for his waist with his other hand.

“You don’t even know who I am? Your intelligence work is just average. I can’t believe how a second-rate player like you managed to sneak in here? Or… are you trying to avoid something?”

The girl smiled strangely, revealing her cute canine teeth.

“By the way, you dropped something. I’m very curious what this is. Can you tell me?”

Just then, the girl raised her hand, a black crystal pinched between her fingers.

The man’s pupils shrank, and he subconsciously took a step back.

“Looks like you’re scared? But don’t be nervous. If my observation is correct, this thing should have at least twenty seconds before it takes effect, right?” the girl giggled.

“A bomb that will explode in just over twenty seconds can scare you like this? Have you never touched a grenade before?”

Faced with the girl’s mockery, the man frowned.

But he said nothing, only cautiously watching his surroundings while his hand gently rested on his gun.

“I advise you not to make any rash moves. The muscles in your neck have already exposed you.”

The girl said.

But the man had no intention of talking any more.

He suddenly drew his pistol, aimed at the girl, and pulled the trigger—well-trained as he was, this process only took less than half a second.

But the moment he pulled the trigger, two gunshots suddenly exploded in the air, and the dazzling muzzle flash instantly illuminated the dark corridor.

The pistol in his hand flew out of his grasp, and even his wrist was dislocated.

“Wha…!?”

He was inexplicably shocked.

In the instant before he fired, the girl had drawn her pistol earlier and faster than him, and had shot the gun out of his hand.

The other gunshot was from his pistol being fired when it flew out of his hand, completely missing the girl.

He clutched his wrist in pain.

At that moment, without a sound, he found that the girl had appeared in front of him at some point.

A fist was flying towards his throat.

Vaguely, he saw a cold glint flash from within the girl’s sleeve.

‘A hidden weapon!’—he immediately made a judgment.

At this moment, he could no longer underestimate this girl in the slightest.

With all his strength, he forcefully turned his neck, which was about to be cut, and at the same time, he thrust out his palm, trying to parry the girl’s attack.

With his height advantage, this counter-attack should have been very effective.

But the girl was exceptionally nimble.

She changed her fist attack to an elbow strike, not fighting him head-on, but brushing past his arm like a piece of gauze.

Then she swiftly moved forward, thrusting out her palm, leaving a bloody hole in his chest.

The next moment, a sharp pain came from his arm, followed by a gush of blood.

‘Another hidden weapon!’—he opened his eyes wide, swallowing the metallic taste that rose from the back of his throat.

Enduring the severe pain in his arm, he quickly kicked out, trying to create distance between himself and the girl.

But what greeted him was the girl’s high kick, which came later but arrived first, accurately hitting the back of his knee and breaking his center of gravity.

And once again, it gave him a bone-piercing pain—a deep, bleeding wound that showed the bone had appeared on his leg.

He belatedly looked at the girl’s boot, and the blade on it was glowing with a strange blood-red color, flashing coldly in the night.

His leg was severely injured, and he couldn’t stabilize himself in time.

With a thud, he fell to one knee.

As the blood flowed rapidly, the cold sweat on his forehead could no longer be concealed.

In just two moves, he was already half-crippled.

“Ah, we’re almost out of time. Ayse, I’ll leave the rest to you.”

Just then, he heard the girl’s voice, and then he saw the girl throw the crystal in her hand out the window.

“You…”

“I can probably guess what that thing is, so I won’t trouble you to explain.”

The girl said quietly, taking out a handkerchief from her pocket.

She meticulously and slowly wiped the bloodstains from the blade under her sleeve, then threw it away in disgust, not even sparing the man a glance.

“I came here because I have something I want to confirm. I thought that if I appeared in person, someone would definitely take the bait, but… are you really just alone? Then I’ll be direct. You can choose now, either tell me your mission in its entirety, or… experience a feeling worse than death right here?”

The girl smiled maliciously.

“My subordinate was injured by you. Don’t think I’ll let you off easy.”
