—All this talk of love and affection, it must be another one of that detestable Demon Lord’s tricks to bewitch me!
If asked how long it took him to calm down about the kiss, Wade would likely hold up two fingers, smugly declaring, “✌🏻😎 I only needed twenty minutes to recover from the Black Demon Lord’s influence!”
Hmph… twenty minutes, was it…
But the Black Demon Lord, Lamia — what was she doing?
Why was she always looking at other people?
Even after they had kissed, and she had uttered such beautiful words—even mimicking his own words back to him—he could still recall the faint sensation of her gentle bite on the scar at his lip. Yet…
[Oh… that young man has a real sense of power about him. Much better than this White Knight beside me.]
…What kind of thing is that to say?
Wade watched with a hint of helplessness as Lamia’s gaze fell upon a young man whose physique was exaggeratedly muscular.
Of course, there were knights of this style within the Knight Order; such individuals often possessed immense strength and could become excellent knights.
[Only this kind of physique barely meets the demonic aesthetic. The White Knight is indeed too scrawny.]
“…”
Wade knew that demons revered strength, with their monstrous forms often grotesque in their pursuit of power. Still, to be judged “scrawny” by the Demon Lord herself—Wade felt a genuine surge of indignation.
Surely, those hulking figures were the exception, and his own physique was the standard?
He was merely cinched a little too tightly by the Knight Order’s uniform… surely he wasn’t so thin as to be called “scrawny”!
“…”
As Lamia entertained this thought, she instinctively glanced toward Wade. Seemingly surprised to meet his gaze, she blinked, then offered him a polite smile.
Her smile was adorable, yet the words that drifted into Wade’s ears were—
[—Looking closely, he really is quite scrawny.]
“…😡”
Wade’s fists clenched at her words.
Just yesterday, she had held a grudge against him for striking her with a blade, kicking him off the bed, and now she called him scrawny? ‘I think you’re asking to see my true capabilities!’ he fumed internally.
Naturally, Wade’s thoughts were strictly about combat.
Given the situation, Wade decided the only solution was to go to the training grounds, defeat all those muscle-bound men, and show her who truly stood at the pinnacle of the Knight Order. All that dead muscle was useless! No matter how strangely they trained, they wouldn’t withstand a single strike from him!
“Ah! Sir Wade!”
Encountering acquaintances within the Knight Order was perfectly normal; after all, Wade was a prominent figure. As he passed the training grounds, a knight called out to him.
The young knight appeared unaware of the woman beside Wade, so he politely bowed before turning back to Wade.
“Sir Wade, it’s been several days. Have you not been to the training grounds recently?”
Though Wade was a civil officer, the Knight Order maintained regular training requirements. Whether it was combat simulations or basic physical training, even Wade had to participate. This was a rule set by Grand Commander Jeffrey, who himself joined in to lead by example, encouraging younger knights to train more diligently.
The current situation was delicate. While the demon race hadn’t launched a full-scale offensive, aggressive demons still appeared in human society. There were no large-scale wars, but minor skirmishes and provocations were common.
Examples included low-level demons appearing in human royal cities, and the White Knight’s frequent attempts to smash down the Demon Lord’s castle gates.
To prevent a sudden demon offensive, the Knight Order trained continuously. Young knights, eager for glory, cooperated diligently, as if awaiting the day they could truly earn distinction.
The Grand Commander and Vice Commander each oversaw half of the knight training. As an assistant adjutant, Wade’s main duties, besides participating in training, included organizing events and distributing welfare. Consequently, Wade was highly popular within the Knight Order. These young knights always believed that seeing Wade at the training grounds meant something good was about to happen.
Wade’s recent absence due to these chaotic affairs had left the young knights eagerly anticipating his return. The knight who had just sent a spear flying had committed a mistake and dared not speak. This new knight, however, had done nothing wrong and was bolder, striking up a conversation with Wade, subtly hinting at whether any good news was on the horizon by mentioning training.
“Ah… I have indeed been quite busy lately, so I haven’t made it to the training grounds. I’ll draft some proposals for future activities for the Grand Commander; you all just focus on your training.”
Facing an unsuspecting knight, Wade didn’t really want to blurt out, “I suddenly got married yesterday; it was so abrupt that nothing was prepared.” Even with Lamia right beside him, he was reluctant for other knights to pry into her affairs, sensing that some questions would be incredibly complex to answer.
The matter was so sudden that he hadn’t even concocted an excuse for why he had married a woman he had met just three hours prior. He couldn’t very well claim it was for world peace and the future of humanity… even if, technically, it was.
“Possibly because we got married yesterday, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with work? My husband truly works hard.”
[Heh heh~ Having such a considerate wife, how about it? You must be very happy~]
“…Ah? Uh… ahaha…”
Despite Wade’s reluctance to discuss it, Lamia blurted it out directly, even waving at the knight with a gentle, blissful smile that left the young man dumbfounded.
“Eh? What… what? Sir Wade, you’re married?!”
After a stunned pause of about five seconds, the young knight finally gasped in surprise, his eyes wide as he stared at the affectionate couple before him.
“Ah… yes… it was rather sudden, but we are indeed married…”
“Oh my goodness!”
The young knight’s loud exclamation immediately drew other knights, who, being constantly in the training grounds, were not well-informed. They crowded around, staring at Wade and Lamia in astonishment.
“The most sought-after man in our Knight Order is married so quickly! So many female knights must be heartbroken now!”
“Oh, come on… it’s not that serious… not so exaggerated…”
“How is it not serious, Sir Wade? You don’t know how popular you are!”
“Exactly! Sir, just look at your excellent qualities; you’re clearly a hot commodity!”
“Haha… is, is that so?”
“It truly is! In this entire Knight Order, you’re the only one with your capabilities and looks!”
A blend of seven parts sincerity and three parts flattery is always the most potent.
Because Wade was generally well-liked, upon hearing of his marriage, the surrounding knights showered him with blessings and praise. With his wife present, they lauded Wade from head to toe, transforming his initial “Oh, not really” into a “Is, is that right?” and finally into a confident “Yes, that’s certainly true.” He began by shyly lowering his head and chuckling awkwardly, but soon he straightened his posture, beaming with pride.
Normally, if knights praised him like this, he would simply smile and move on. But today was different; Lamia was right beside him. She had just called him scrawny and said he was old—well, look at this now! Look how popular he was!
Wade was now desperate to hear Lamia’s admiring thoughts, eager to hear her inwardly exclaim, ‘So the White Knight is actually such an amazing figure—’
[…Hmm…]
[This batch of knights doesn’t have many muscular ones… It seems their training focus is different…]
—Stop thinking about those things! You despicable Black Demon Lord!
“Alright, alright, enough talk. Speaking of which, how are your training results? I can only secure benefits for you if you show me your achievements. What was the last thing you were training for?”
Listening to Lamia’s thoughts still dwelling on strength, Wade finally couldn’t take it anymore.
He knew that demons’ minds were consumed by power; they preferred visible strength over beauty.
So—he might as well let her witness his power!
Wade wasn’t sure where this competitive streak had come from, but just hearing Lamia’s thoughts filled him with intense irritation.
Therefore… apologies, young knights!
Consider this a training match! This was an opportunity to display his strength before the Black Demon Lord!
“Reporting, sir, last time it was close-quarters combat! We’ve worked very hard, hehe, please arrange some activities for us; training every day is exhausting.”
“That can be arranged, but first, I need to inspect your training results. Otherwise, I can’t report back to the Grand Commander.”
Wade said, taking a deep breath.
Because he was a civil officer, his oppressive aura wasn’t particularly strong from the knights’ perspective. Moreover, he hadn’t said he would be sparring *with* them, so the young men weren’t overly tense.
“Choose a few representatives to spar with me briefly. Once we’re done, I can talk to the Grand Commander.”
Wade smiled, then tensed his nerves. He watched as the young men quietly discussed among themselves, eventually selecting a few seemingly well-trained knights. Seeing this, Wade, eager to save face before Lamia, immediately flexed his muscles. The moment a knight came close, he would counter-attack, making the Black Demon Lord recall the fear of being overpowered by him…!
“Wade—”
—The opportunity had arrived!
The instant a hand clapped his shoulder, Wade knew his chance had come. Without a word, he grabbed the person’s arm, executed a reverse back-throw, and sent them flying.
“…Eh?”
But the next second, as the surrounding knights’ expressions instantly shifted, he suddenly looked up, focusing his gaze. Who he had just thrown wasn’t a knight at all—
“Uwaaaah?! Lamia?!”
—It was his wife!
On the first night of his marriage, the esteemed White Knight Sir struck his wife with a blade. On the second day of his marriage, he threw his wife with a back-throw. His combat record was verifiable.
Truly worthy of the esteemed White Knight Sir, who always stood on the front lines against the demon race.
