Seeing Melorin’s aggrieved yet stubborn expression, Lilith couldn’t help but laugh.
“Alright, alright, Melorin.
I’ll remove the magic on you first.
Otherwise, you’ll be very uncomfortable.”
“Hurry up.”
Melorin urged immediately.
Her voice still carried a trace of lingering embarrassment and impatience, as if she feared that residual heat would torment her for even one more second.
Lilith chuckled softly and stepped behind her.
She gently placed both hands on Melorin’s slender shoulders.
A faint silver glow bloomed at her fingertips and slowly seeped into Melorin’s skin.
The magic that had been rampaging wildly inside her body was guided and soothed, like the ebbing of a tide.
Her tightly wound nerves gradually relaxed, as if she were finally freed from invisible shackles.
“Hah…”
Melorin let out a long breath.
Her whole body went limp, as though the last bit of strength had been drained from her.
She turned her head and glared at Lilith, still refusing to soften her words.
“Hmph.
I’ll forgive you this time.
Don’t let it happen again.”
Lilith looked at her.
She was clearly still angry, yet her tone was soft like cotton.
Her eyes no longer held the resistance and wariness they once had.
Instead, there was a faint, almost coquettish sense of reliance.
Lilith’s heart stirred slightly, and the corners of her lips rose unconsciously.
“Got it, Melorin.”
She replied softly, her tone indulgent.
“It’s break time now.
You can go do whatever you like.”
Melorin leaned back against the chair.
It took her quite a while before she slowly regained some energy.
She gazed at the towering bookshelves.
Layer upon layer, they seemed to record everything in the world.
Suddenly, a thought surfaced in her mind.
She turned her head abruptly, blinking as she looked at Lilith.
Her tone was tentative.
“Lilith, this library is so big…
Does it have every kind of book?”
Lilith thought for a moment, then shook her head with a smile.
“Not absolutely everything.
Some forbidden books are sealed in the underground archive and require the Demon King’s personal approval to access.
But… for ordinary materials, you can find almost anything.”
Melorin’s eyes lit up at once.
She immediately moved closer, hugging Lilith’s arm and gently shaking it.
Her voice turned soft and sweet, like melted sugar.
“Then… Lilith-sis,
could I take a look at my own records?
I want to know… how the demon race recorded me.
In their eyes, what kind of existence am I?”
Lilith froze for a moment.
She lowered her gaze and looked at Melorin’s face, filled with expectation.
It wasn’t simple curiosity.
It was… an urgent need to confirm something in her heart.
Lilith fell silent briefly, then sighed softly.
“Actually…
it’s not that different from the records on the human side.”
“But I still want to see.”
Melorin hugged her arm tighter, her cheek lightly brushing against Lilith’s shoulder like a spoiled kitten.
“Please, Lilith-sis…
I really want to see it.
Even just a little is fine.
I want to know how they wrote about me.”
Looking at her like this, Lilith felt something gently strike her heart.
She knew that this former hero was being eroded and reshaped little by little.
And this question she was asking now might be the last struggle of her remaining sense of self.
Like someone sinking into a swamp.
The more they struggle, the deeper they sink.
At last, Lilith sighed again and raised her hand to gently rub Melorin’s hair.
“Alright, alright…
It’s not exactly top-secret anyway.
Come with me.”
“Yes.
That’s great.”
Melorin jumped up from the chair at once, a smile blooming on her face from the bottom of her heart.
Lilith took Melorin’s hand and led her toward the deepest part of the library.
Following behind her, Melorin watched as they went deeper and deeper.
At last, she couldn’t help asking out of curiosity.
“Lilith,
are my records… hidden this deep?”
Lilith didn’t turn back.
She only shook her head gently, smiling.
“It’s not that they’re hidden deep.
It’s just that… there’s far too much information about you.”
“Huh?”
Melorin froze and instinctively scratched her head.
She muttered inwardly.
“Do I… really have that much?”
She was just a defeated hero.
Why would there be so many records about her?
At last, they reached the end of the corridor.
There stood a massive black iron door.
Complex runes were carved across its surface, looking both like seals and guardians.
Lilith raised her hand and pressed lightly at the center of the door.
One by one, the runes lit up.
With a deep “click,” the door slowly opened.
Behind it lay a secret chamber almost buried by mountains of books.
Stacks of scrolls, handwritten manuscripts, and magic crystal record boards were piled all the way to the ceiling.
Only a narrow path remained down the middle.
“This…”
Melorin widened her eyes, her voice trembling slightly.
“All of this… is my information?”
“Yes.”
Lilith nodded with a light smile.
“From the moment you were summoned into this world, the demon race began recording everything about you.
Where you went.
Who you met.
What you said.
What skills you used.
Even…
what you ate each day and how many hours you slept were recorded.”
Melorin’s heart jolted violently.
She couldn’t help looking at Lilith with a strange expression.
“You… how did you even get all that?
And recording it so thoroughly…
that’s practically… perverted.”
Hearing this, Lilith burst out laughing.
She reached out and gently rubbed Melorin’s head, her tone indulgent.
“Silly Melorin.
Back then, you were our greatest threat.
A hero capable of challenging the Demon King’s Castle alone.
Of course we had to understand everything about you.”
She casually pulled out a neatly organized stack of documents and placed it into Melorin’s hands.
“Take a look.
This is the simplified version of your records.
Easier to read.”
Melorin lowered her head and opened the first page.
Clear text appeared before her eyes.
Name: Melorin
Gender: Female
Race: Succubus Consort (formerly Human)
Identity: Empire-Summoned Hero
Profile: A hero summoned from another world by the Human Empire.
Appeared publicly as male, but was in fact female, disguised as a man.
Possessed extraordinary combat talent and mental resilience.
Once personally slew three thousand demon soldiers and broke through seven layers of the Demon King’s Castle barrier…
“…”
Her fingers trembled violently.
She almost couldn’t hold onto the documents.
Something inside her felt as though it was slowly shattering.
“No… that’s not right…”
She murmured, her voice tightening.
“This… how could this be real?
I… when was I female?
I clearly… clearly was…”
She couldn’t continue.
In her memories, she had indeed been summoned as a hero.
Clad in armor.
Wielding a greatsword.
Admired by tens of thousands.
But back then…
Had she really appeared as a man?
But I clearly remember being male.
Did I remember it wrong?
What’s going on?
What’s going on?
Why… can’t she remember?
Why?
Remember.
Hurry and remember.
She suddenly looked up at Lilith.
Her eyes were filled with disbelief as she asked in confusion.
“These records…
are they wrong?
I used to be…
was I really female?”
Lilith looked at her quietly.
Her gaze was gentle as she smiled and asked.
“What’s wrong with it?
Is the record not detailed enough?”
