‘This is quite the find~’
Allyrose, having obtained the Holy Light Psionic Sword, was extremely pleased. It was perfect; she had just been needing a suitable weapon.
*Cough, cough.* Though one might see her profession as a priest, a healer-type character, that was merely a relic from her past as a Saintess.
Allyrose had previously considered roles like a Lancer, a Caster, or even a ‘wall-hugging’ Archer. And honestly, twin tails and an Archer did seem like a rather fitting combination.
However, with such a divine artifact now in her possession—a sword that granted her the experience of a max-level swordsman’s techniques—then…
‘Hmm, it’s decided,’ she thought. ‘I’ll just be a Saber!’
With that thought, Allyrose confidently retrieved her Holy Light Psionic Sword from the system.
In an instant, a longsword with a slender blade and a cruciform hilt materialized in Allyrose’s hand.
The black-haired girl blinked, genuinely surprised to find the sword even had a guard.
Beneath its scabbard, which shimmered with a gradient of azure and blue, the Holy Light Psionic Sword seemed like an ancient spirit slumbering within a crystal coffin.
Simply gripping the hilt, Allyrose felt a bone-chilling cold creep from the handle up her arm.
‘Hiss—’
‘Just from its appearance, this sword truly feels extraordinary!’
Taking a deep breath, Allyrose gathered her resolve for a moment. Then, she forcefully drew the blade from its scabbard.
“Whoosh—!”
A sharp metallic rasp sliced through the air. Instantly, the meter-long narrow blade gleamed with a chilling light, its ethereal blue patterns reflecting a stark serenity against the white forged steel.
Wielding it with one hand, Allyrose felt an unusual coldness and considerable weight.
‘However, this should not be the sword’s complete form yet.’
The black-haired girl took a deep breath, then slowly began to channel the excess Holy Light energy within her body into the sword’s blade.
The Holy Light energy surged through the hilt, following the luminous, ethereal blue patterns on the blade, steadily filling the forged steel within.
Allyrose quickly closed her eyes, her divine sense, guided by magical circuits, gradually penetrating the blade. Inside, a tiny black crystal core, previously almost invisible to the naked eye, was now rapidly expanding and radiating a dazzling golden light under the influx of Holy Light energy.
Moments later, Allyrose’s eyes snapped open, and she swiftly withdrew her hand.
The moment the Holy Light energy stopped flowing, the sacred sword underwent a fierce transformation.
[Attack +200, Magic Strength +100, Agility +50, Defense +100!]
‘Power…’
‘Power is surging through me, ahhhhh—!’
In that instant, dozens of elite Holy Light sword techniques burst forth in Allyrose’s mind. Unable to control herself, she raised the blade with both hands, aiming it at the hospital bed before her, ready to unleash an Excalibur—!
*Cough, cough…*
Fortunately, in the very end, Allyrose managed to restrain herself.
After all, this was indoors, specifically the school’s infirmary. If she were to recklessly cause destruction here…
*Cough, cough.* She wouldn’t even need to wait to settle her bet with that guy, Arius. Allyrose would be expelled by the principal on the spot today.
Furthermore, she’d leave behind a peculiar legend among her schoolmates: a certain super-powered girl suddenly having a fit and cleaving the school infirmary—no, perhaps even the entire school building—with a single sword strike.
The girl painstakingly lowered the blade, which was constantly rippling with energy. Then, as if extinguishing an alcohol lamp, she covered it with the scabbard.
The Holy Light energy instantly vanished without a trace.
‘Ah—’
‘Damn it—!’
‘After building up so much, I couldn’t even unleash it!’
‘It’s truly frustrating! It’s like being on the verge of…’
*Cough, cough, cough…*
‘That association is a bit off, a bit off, ah—’
‘But I can’t really blame myself, can I? Damn it…’
‘After all, the feeling of frustration is the same!’
Allyrose pouted, silently stomping her foot. ‘Ugh… I finally had the chance to use a powerful move, but I had to forcibly hold it back.’
‘This is too unbearable!’
‘Hmm… Now that I think about it, no wonder… I suddenly fainted earlier in the library while resting my head on the table.’
*Cough, cough…*
Allyrose, feeling a strange sense of satisfaction despite herself, sighed and returned the divine weapon to her system inventory.
‘Well… regardless, after this brief trial, Allyrose felt the sword was quite good in all aspects. The only issue was…’
‘The sword didn’t seem to store Holy Light energy. The moment I sheathed it, the energy I had just injected immediately dissipated through the scabbard.’
Fortunately, she possessed a Holy Light Absorption Bracelet, which allowed her to recycle some of the Holy Light, albeit with some loss.
Furthermore, this sacred sword consumed Holy Light. Any sword technique she unleashed would essentially be exchanged for her own stored Holy Light energy.
Moreover, previously injected Holy Light energy had no long-term effect on the sword; no matter how much was infused, it only provided temporary power.
‘Hmm… So, this was essentially a mana-consuming skill, albeit a very powerful one.’
‘If I ran out of Holy Light energy, I’d have to find a way to replenish it, otherwise, the sword wouldn’t be able to unleash its full combat potential.’
‘This… In the long run, this item might not qualify as a perfect, end-game divine artifact.’
‘After all, what divine artifact needed to constantly “suck blood” to maintain its combat power? The energy loss definitely had to be factored in.’
‘Well… However, for the short term, it was absolutely sufficient.’
Allyrose pondered for a moment, then nodded contentedly. ‘Yes… no need to rush.’
The current situation was actually quite good. In fact, Allyrose was somewhat relieved that the system’s judgment hadn’t been too outrageous, allowing her to complete the task successfully at the last minute, even in Jason’s absence.
‘It’s fine, but it would be even better if such outrageous tasks didn’t appear again!’
‘Hmph…’
With a sigh, Allyrose propped her chin and settled back onto the hospital bed.
In truth, the girl’s body no longer felt so unwell. ‘Hmm… after all, I wasn’t actually sick; I only claimed to be ill to put Jason off. Besides… it wasn’t even that uncomfortable.’
‘It’s just… Where on earth did that audacious, idiotic, pretty-boy servant go? He’s been gone so long and still hasn’t returned!’
*Cough, cough…*
‘No, he wouldn’t… He couldn’t have actually taken my socks into the men’s restroom to do something weird, could he?!’
‘Ugh…’
‘No, don’t! Those are my newly bought socks, hey—!’
****
“I’m back!”
Just as the girl shivered with dread, Luo Jia entered the room, a black bag in hand and a hint of helplessness on his face.
He glanced down and saw the ‘fake Saintess’ who had re-tied her twin tails.
‘Hmm… I have a strange feeling she’s thinking something bad about me.’
‘Why does her gaze hold a mix of fear… and excitement?’
‘Wasn’t it about changing socks?’
