Chapter 30: The Gland and the Reproductive Cavity

Inside the consultation room of the Mu Family Private Hospital, the fluorescent lights were bright.

The clean floor almost reflected light, and the faint aroma in the air was soothing.

Ning Jiu sat across from the doctor’s desk, looking around in confusion.

Geometric illustrations were pasted on the walls.

A giant cat tree stood in the corner.

Plush toys were piled near the wall.

If not for the doctor in a white coat smiling at him, he might have thought he had wandered into a cat café rather than a hospital.

Was this hospital even serious?

The anxiety he had felt about potential triggers gradually dissolved in this warm, un-hospital-like space.

“President Mu brought his omega today.”

The doctor exchanged a glance with Mu Jingyi and lifted his lazy calico cat from the scratching board.

“This one sleeps all day and is lively at night.”

The calico yawned and meowed unhappily.

“Wuii, miao yao…” (Human, sleepy.)

Cat dialects varied.

Some were innate, some learned.

Ning Jiu took a moment to understand, then poked its head lightly.

“Yui ma.” (Lazy cat.)

“Ma’ao…” (No.)

The calico suddenly stiffened, staring at Ning Jiu’s ears and tail in astonishment.

It struggled from the doctor’s arms, desperate to leap into Ning Jiu’s embrace.

Ning Jiu caught it and stroked its head gently.

“This cat is usually very wary of strangers. Why is it so affectionate with you?”

The doctor looked puzzled.

Ning Jiu only smiled faintly, tail lifting proudly behind him.

“You wouldn’t understand,” Mu Jingyi said lightly, resting a hand on Ning Jiu’s shoulder.

“My kitty is the boss of Cat Kingdom.”

The tail swayed even more happily.

With the calico as a companion, Ning Jiu completely separated this bright hospital from the dirty operating rooms of his past.

Even when cool electrodes were attached to his chest and he was slid into a scanner, he did not feel uneasy.

Inside the enclosed room, the machine beeped softly.

He lay still on the table, tail fanned out beside him like a white blossom.

Behind the glass, Mu Jingyi watched without blinking, jaw tight.

“Relax. His mental state is stable,” the doctor reassured him.

Mu Jingyi had sent a long message the night before, detailing Ning Jiu’s condition.

The best way to handle PTSD was to avoid recreating the original environment.

So the hospital had covered walls with soft wallpaper, used expensive fragrance to mask disinfectant, and even recruited the calico for “emotional support.”

Mu Jingyi had only one request.

He wanted the hospital to not feel like a hospital.

“Alright. Now we’ll examine the omega gland and reproductive cavity.”

Ning Jiu obediently unbuttoned his shirt and exposed the gland at the back of his neck.

The doctor inhaled sharply.

Layer upon layer of bite marks overlapped there.

Some shallow.

Some deep enough to break skin.

Dark red scabs contrasted against pale skin.

The gland was still swollen.

The doctor frowned and glanced at Mu Jingyi.

“If you’re being mistreated by an alpha, we have the omega protection association’s number.”

Ning Jiu blinked innocently.

“What is the omega protection association?”

The doctor hesitated.

“It’s… an organization that protects omegas.”

“Protects… omegas?”

“If it has always existed, why has it never appeared in my life until now?”

His tail drooped and stilled.

Mu Jingyi crouched in front of him and squeezed his hand gently.

“Are you going to report me to them?”

Ning Jiu shook his head faintly.

“But it should have existed from the beginning.”

He could not understand why such an organization had never reached the fusion factories.

“It should have existed from the beginning.”

The remaining examination went smoothly.

The results did not.

The doctor pointed at the scan.

“The gland and reproductive cavity are atrophied. There may be no fertility. The cavity opening has receded. Forming a permanent knot would be difficult.”

He glanced at Mu Jingyi, hesitant.

In wealthy families, this body would be considered inadequate.

It was a common condition among fusion-type omegas.

Mu Jingyi’s expression stiffened briefly.

He thought of his late omega father.

“Does it affect his health?”

“He will need consistent alpha pheromones for proper conditioning. Permanent marking will not be easy. His pheromones may be unstable, and heat cycles may be harder to control. He is physically weaker, but it’s not life-threatening.”

Mu Jingyi exhaled slowly.

“As long as it doesn’t threaten his life.”

He did not care about family rules.

He did not care about fertility.

He only cared that his kitty could live well.

“However… he needs a lot of alpha pheromones,” the doctor said cautiously.

Mu Jingyi’s lack of pheromones was widely known within the Mu family.

He considered briefly.

“I’ll get tested as well.”

Meanwhile, Ning Jiu remained in the consultation room playing with the calico.

The calico had apparently decided he was feline royalty.

It purred and rubbed against his palm affectionately.

Ning Jiu lifted it and licked the fur on its head.

The cat tolerated it obediently, even though it had never been licked by such a large “cat” before.

Suddenly, the door opened.

Ning Jiu thought it was Mu Jingyi returning.

Instead, an older alpha stood there.

He stepped back warily.

“Don’t be nervous. If you enter the Mu family, we’ll meet eventually.”

It was Mu Zhaohua, Mu Jingyi’s third uncle and one of the shareholders who frequently opposed him.

He had clearly come prepared.

“By seniority, you should call me Third Uncle.”

Before Ning Jiu could respond, a heavy tobacco-scented pheromone flooded the room.

It was suffocating.

His vision blurred.

The temporary mark shielded him from being forced into heat, but the pressure remained.

“Has my nephew not marked you? Of course. How could he?”

Mu Zhaohua pressed a remote.

A sharp, electric-like discomfort shot through Ning Jiu’s gland.

His knees buckled.

The calico fled.

“Wau!” (Boss!)

Footsteps pounded outside.

“Ning Jiu!”

He looked up weakly toward the familiar voice.

Strong arms caught him, lifting him securely.

The catnip scent enveloped him.

Instinctively, he bit down on Mu Jingyi’s gland, inhaling deeply to overwrite the tobacco smell.

Gradually, his breathing steadied.

Mu Zhaohua sneered.

“You can’t even mark him, and you won’t let others? Poor omega. Can’t even be soothed during heat.”

Mu Jingyi’s expression turned icy.

The angrier he became, the calmer he appeared.

“Releasing pheromones at a stranger omega without consent—Third Uncle, are you hoping for prison?”

He glanced at the doctor.

“Send the surveillance footage to my email.”

Later, in a private emergency room, Ning Jiu sat straddling Mu Jingyi’s lap.

The air was clean again.

“Baby, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have left you alone.”

“It wasn’t your fault.”

He breathed in the familiar scent, the agitation fading.

Then he looked up.

“Daddy, will the omega protection association handle this?”

“Yes.”

“Then… can I protect myself this time?”

Mu Jingyi noticed something different in his kitty’s eyes.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead gently.

“Alright. I’ll help you.”
