Chapter 4 : The White-Stockinged Female Knight Can’t Sleep

“Young Master, you’re just letting Miss Himan leave like that?”

“Mm. I couldn’t understand a word she was saying. The sooner she left, the better.”

Lov had just seen Himan out.

Returning to hear Hall’s words, she couldn’t help but feel a secret glee in her heart.

‘That woman is finally disliked by the Young Master.’

‘Serves her right.’

The Young Master should have started disliking her long ago.
In Lov’s eyes, Himan’s prejudice against Hall was now as deep as her own prejudice against Himan.

Therefore, the fact that the Young Master used to get along with her must have been because he was only interested in her body.

Now the Young Master has a new favorite.
Although it seems she might be a female spy from the Xia Kingdom, as long as he doesn’t give that woman Himan a pleasant look, it’s fine.

After all, that investigator left quickly, so the Young Master probably hadn’t committed any major crime.

Besides, after the mistress’s death, the master was away for long periods and rarely came home.

It was unlikely Hall had access to any classified information.

And that female spy from the Xia Kingdom probably wasn’t genuinely fond of the Young Master either.

So, in the end, the person who would stay by the Young Master’s side would still be her.

That night, Hall was in the Faxtius family library, cramming details about his family and the Papal State.

Although his memories and the game had given him a general understanding of the world, it wasn’t enough.

As a lore enthusiast, he would collect and read certain lost scrolls and documents in the game.

But no matter how much text the game’s creators used, it was impossible to depict the entire world in full.

Most of the time, players could only connect various text fragments to speculate and fill in the blanks with their imagination.

But he didn’t dare to randomly fill in the blanks now.
On his very first day, he was nearly branded a traitor to the West.
Who knew what other absurd things might happen in the next few days.

As Zhou Shuren once said, knowledge is power, and knowing the lore is the best medicine.

‘Still, Himan will probably stay away from me now. It’s better to have her stop focusing on me. Rather than being constantly discriminated against and lectured by her, it’s better for Himan to completely cut ties with me. Her story route is quite orthodox and stable; she’s not the type of heroine who easily gets into or causes trouble.’

Hall recalled the expression on Himan’s face as she left after his dismissive attitude.

Anger, disappointment, confusion.

‘Perfect.’

He loved to see those expressions.

Because Himan already had a deep-seated prejudice against him, a prejudice as immovable as a mountain, very hard to change.

Furthermore, before she left, she still thought he had been seduced by a female spy from the Xia Kingdom.

Hall found this utterly baffling.
Was his own little maid not good enough?

She was very beautiful, had a great figure, nimble hands, white legs, and delicate pink feet.
She was obedient and docile, and had a whole wardrobe of uniforms.

His father and older sister were away long-term, and his younger sister was mostly engrossed in her studies at the university’s seminary.

He could engage in any kind of roleplay he wanted with Lov; even doing it in the open on the estate’s back lawn would probably be no challenge at all.

If he had any brains at all, he wouldn’t possibly go looking for some strange woman from the Xia Kingdom.

“I still have to attend classes as usual tomorrow. Mmm, starting tomorrow, I’ll be a normal, noble young master.”

Hall placed a bookmark in, then closed the ancient book in his hands and returned to his room.

He was a little sleepy.
Time to get some rest.

“He’s truly possessed.”

In stark contrast to Hall, who was now sound asleep, Himan sat on her bed wearing a moon-white silk nightgown, her legs crossed gracefully, unable to sleep as she stared at the mahogany wall clock that had already passed midnight.

She was too angry to sleep.

No matter how you looked at it, there was something wrong with Hall.

He was so dismissive about such an important matter.

He didn’t take it seriously at all.

However, his rhetoric in response to Yafman was actually quite decent, showing the conduct of a noble gentleman.

But to be so attentive in that regard, yet so perfunctory with her.

‘Hmph, he definitely didn’t learn those rhetorical skills himself. That female spy from Xia must have taught him.’

Himan continued to fume at a non-existent person.

And she was utterly convinced of it.

She wondered what kind of bewitching potion that woman had fed Hall.
Did he completely disregard his personal safety and family honor?

True, if he cared about family honor, he wouldn’t be hitting on other pretty girls at school all day.

‘Forget it, I’m done with him.’

Her mother, too, still believed in Hall so much, saying she was overthinking it.

If Hall really sold important intelligence from the Papal State to the Xia Kingdom, and it blew up into a major scandal.

Their Von family would surely be affected as well.

“Cut ties. I must cut ties. If I pay any more attention to this wretched man, I’m just asking for trouble.”

Thinking of this.

Himan felt it necessary to visit Lorraine at the seminary.

If Hall wanted to court death, let him.
But he shouldn’t drag his sister down with him.

The next morning.

Under the meticulous care of his little maid, Hall changed into a custom-tailored suit.
The brand seemed to be called something like “Aimas.”
He remembered that this store’s clothing was famous in the game for its low cost-performance ratio.

Not only was it more expensive than many robes and armors made from special materials, but it also offered no combat-related stat boosts.

Hall was a pragmatist; in his past playthroughs, he was only ever gifted one piece during a quest line.

The only buff on that piece of clothing was a thirty percent increase in attraction to both the opposite and same s*x.
If the other person’s social status or wealth was lower than the wearer’s, this attribute would be boosted by an additional fifty percent.

Unfortunately, by that time, his party was already set, and he had no time to raise his charisma to recruit other heroines.
Recruiting them without training them would just lead to them being benched, and training too many would strain the main team’s resources.

However, when he opened his wardrobe this morning, he found at least five suits that looked exactly the same.

Seriously, money was no object.

While it felt good, it was also a little frustrating.
Using this money to buy resources to improve himself would make it much easier to survive.

“Young Master, it’s time to depart.”

Lov’s eyes seemed to sparkle as she looked at Hall, all dressed up in his suit and bowtie.

In her eyes, the Young Master was quite handsome, with well-defined facial features and a well-proportioned body.
Although his reputation was poor, he was a genuine captain of the Black Knights Order, practicing his swordsmanship every week, which made girls feel incredibly secure.

“Mmm.”

“What would the Young Master like to see upon his return today? A maid in black stockings or white stockings? Barefoot is fine too. Recently, Lov has been soaking her feet in strawberry milk. I heard this kind of maintenance is quite popular in noble circles.”

“Either is fine.”

It wasn’t that he was being dismissive, but it was genuinely a difficult choice.

If he thought about it seriously, he’d have trouble deciding.

But there wasn’t much time before his first class in the morning.

Hall had made a resolution last night: the first step to stabilizing his character persona was to be a good student who didn’t cause trouble but also didn’t get targeted by the heroines.

After all, no matter which route, his NPC character would be forcibly introduced to the heroines by the system whenever their story progression and level growth slowed down.

And because the game’s difficulty was extremely high, many plot points would suddenly trigger a boss that was completely beyond the player’s current level.

Then they would get stuck.

So, to this day, Hall had never seen anyone clear the game without encountering him.

The forums had even offered a bounty for a video playthrough of clearing the game without encountering Hall, but the very few successful ones had all used cheat engines.

‘Speaking of which, in a world center like the capital of the Papal State, the probability of encountering the heroines early is too high. Maybe I should think of an excuse to go to the countryside and lay low for a while?’

The moment he stepped into the classroom, he couldn’t help but ponder this.

But then he looked up and met the gaze of Himan, who was looking exceptionally unwell.
