Yunajin’s face darkened ominously, her tone growing exceptionally cold and low.
It was as if, in the very next second, she would reach out and snap Qiaolun’s neck.
“No, wait a moment…”
Facing the Demon Lord’s relentless advance, Qiaolun nervously retreated, his back pressing against the windowpane.
Yunajin, whose height barely reached Qiaolun’s chin, lifted her seemingly taut face, her pale red eyes fixed intently on him.
They stood so close that if anyone were to casually push one of them, they might very well end up kissing.
“Uh…”
“Pfft…”
Gazing at the frozen Qiaolun, the timid expression on his face made the usually serious Yunajin burst into laughter.
“Your current look is as utterly absurd as if you’d just eaten a Slime fished out of a putrid ditch.”
“I’m not going to devour you, am I? What is there to be so afraid of?”
Yunajin chuckled, stepping back to give Qiaolun some breathing room.
Truth be told, more than his amusingly fearful expression, she wished Qiaolun would display a bit more backbone.
She longed for him to face a Demon Lord’s threat, refuse to back down, and declare with a puffed-out chest: “Demon Lord, what can you possibly do to me!”
‘—How incredibly cool that would be! What could I possibly do to you?’
“Nevertheless, there’s still a risk that the news of my invasion of the Human race will be exposed.”
“Perhaps you should simply return with me to the Demon Lord’s City!”
“No.”
Qiaolun decisively refused, a response that had almost become instinctual for him.
The thoughts he’d entertained before his near-death experience—of enjoying luxury in the Demon Lord’s City and watching succubi dance—had now faded into history.
Yet, Qiaolun still harbored some reservations.
He avoided Yunajin’s questioning gaze, unwilling for her to perceive that a trace of those former desires still lingered within him.
“Don’t lie to me, Lord Hero, nor to yourself.”
“You want to return with me, don’t you?”
Yunajin narrowed her eyes, keenly noticing Qiaolun’s evasive gaze.
‘If you have nothing to hide, then why are you dodging?’
She stepped forward, extended a hand, and leaned on the windowsill, pressing Qiaolun against the window.
Her face drew near his ear, whispering softly, the gentle breeze rustling against his earlobe.
Her highly seductive words seeped into his mind, leaving him utterly defenseless.
“D-dammit, I’m about to lose my ability to think!”
“Come on, come on, I can accompany you every single day~”
Just as Qiaolun was on the verge of succumbing and agreeing, he suddenly recalled the personal secret technique he’d taught himself on his journey to resist succubus temptations.
Qiaolun merely let out a great roar—
“Alright!!!”
“Eh?”
The man lunged out of Yunajin’s encirclement.
He sprawled onto the ground, wearing an expression utterly devoted to self-sacrifice.
“W-what are you doing?”
Yunajin stared blankly, then gazed at Qiaolun, who was propped on the ground with his hands, and asked in bewilderment.
What unfolded next left Yunajin utterly speechless.
“One, two, three, four….”
“Hey! Why are you doing push-ups! And improperly, at that.”
“Hmph, so even the Demon Lord knows how to do them?”
“This is a move I specifically developed to evade sandstorms and ground snakes.”
“When you lie flat, the sandstorm blows over you, and ground snakes hidden in the sand don’t bite airborne creatures.”
“So, as long as I lie prone, place a rock under my feet, and maintain this posture while leaping up, there’s absolutely no problem!”
“I… I am utterly speechless for the moment.”
“But you’re not even clapping your hands and lifting off the ground now, are you?”
Yunajin asked, exasperated.
“Oh, doing it that way is far too tiring; I couldn’t keep it up for long.”
“This is the simplified version.”
“After doing it, my mind and body feel utterly clear and empty.”
“Demon Lord, in this state, your seduction will have no effect on me.”
Qiaolun spoke with a triumphant air, his lips still silently counting the push-ups.
“You idiot, you’re doing it wrong! Let me teach you!”
Yunajin couldn’t bear to watch Qiaolun’s awkward posture any longer.
‘Your hands and chest muscles should be doing the work, why is your butt moving?’
She rolled up her sleeves, retracted her tail, and lay prone beside Qiaolun.
‘Thinking back, I was also a girl in my previous life, how do I still remember this?’
“I don’t care, I discovered this! Don’t imitate me.”
“Such a powerful secret technique deserves a good name.”
“It’s just a regular push-up! Watch closely, like this….”
Yunajin first performed a few repetitions.
Just as she prepared to stand up, Qiaolun scoffed, “Don’t get up yet! Does even the Demon Lord get tired? I’ve only just begun!”
‘—Hey? You’re being stubborn now, aren’t you?’
“What, do you want to compete?”
“I admit your martial prowess is formidable, but when it comes to endurance, do not underestimate us humans!”
“Alright, alright, this King shall humor you!”
“One, two, three, four…”

The Duke’s butler, having received Ramola’s command to invite Her Majesty the Demon Lord to dinner, approached the room.
He sensed something amiss and leaned an ear against the door, hearing a succession of gasps and heavy breaths from within.
Even the floor seemed to vibrate faintly.
As a seasoned old butler, he waited patiently and politely by the door.
Time ticked by, second by second, and the long shadows of the twilight sun stretched across the corridor.
Yet, the commotion from inside the room showed no sign of diminishing.
Of course, there was one subtle change: the heavy grunts of a man had now transformed into the delicate gasps of a woman.
“How about it, human? Concede defeat, have you?”
Playful banter aside, at this moment, the Demon Lord represented the entirety of Demonkind.
Even if it meant wagering her race’s honor, she knew deep down that she absolutely could not lose!
“Damn it…”
Qiaolun’s arms had long since given out.
Though his will remained resolute, his body had surrendered.
Having been at it with Qiaolun from afternoon until dusk, Yunajin had long lost count of her repetitions.
She was solely focused on when her opponent would finally collapse, a point on which Yunajin possessed absolute confidence.
Wielding ‘Twilight’s Elegy,’ her power was constrained, and she bore the sword’s considerable weight.
Even though the sword didn’t affect her surroundings while on Yunajin, the burden it placed on her body remained.
Thus, the push-ups Yunajin performed were far more arduous than Qiaolun’s.
Haa—haa—
Even Yunajin’s resilient body began to feel the strain.
“What’s going on?”
Ramola approached the old butler, and seeing him waiting outside the room without entering, she surmised that he had been standing there all afternoon.
“Duke Madal, I am unable to intervene.”
“What?”
Just as Ramola furrowed her brow, she caught the faint sound of panting.
“What kind of joke is this? Are they already getting started?”
‘—According to the normal story progression, there should first be conflict, then mutual understanding, the discovery of common ground, and growth together through battles and setbacks… How did you two jump straight to the final step?’
“I don’t believe it!”
Ramola roughly kicked open the door.
“Ah, ah, they wouldn’t actually do it, would they!”
The first thing to greet her was Qiaolun, disheveled and utterly exhausted.
This sight almost made Ramola believe what the sounds had suggested was happening in the room.
Immediately after, she saw Yunajin still performing push-ups.
“Excuse me, Your Majesty the Demon Lord…”
Ramola bowed deeply and asked in a hushed tone, “Do you… enjoy doing this?”
