Chapter 61: Painkillers and Tinted Glass

Chaewoo mulled over Euigeon’s words as rationally as possible.

Was he truly speaking from the heart, or was this just another one of his schemes?

Considering how he had lingered in the studio making various excuses not to leave before picking the bathroom lock to come inside… the latter seemed far more likely.

“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

“What kind of person do you take me for?”

“Even so, does it make sense that you couldn’t control yourself to the point of leaving it on my skin like this? You controlled your rut just fine before.”

“That was before I pounded into you down there.”

“Please don’t say things like that so brazenly…”

The frustrating part was that even if it was merely a trick, he had no choice but to follow his words for now.

Because if he ignored it and wandered around alone, there was no telling which sensitive Alpha or Omega might catch on.

“Alright, for now.”

“You’re going into the lecture hall now, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Then we can go together.”

Euigeon naturally turned his steps toward the lecture hall.

While glaring at his back with suspicious eyes, Chaewoo followed behind.

There were still few students in the lecture hall.

Sticking close to Euigeon, who stood out simply by existing, was burdensome enough, but sitting in the front was even worse.

“Let’s sit in the back.”

When he tugged slightly on Euigeon’s sleeve and whispered, the man nodded obediently.

Seeing Chaewoo sit down and take out his books and writing utensils, Euigeon also set his bag down in the seat right to his right and unpacked his belongings.

Sitting side by side openly in the lecture hall like this felt awkward for some reason.

Because he had never imagined in his wildest dreams that he would hang around with Euigeon at school.

And they were known to be on bad terms, too.

Glancing at his large hands moving leisurely, Chaewoo felt relieved on the other hand.

Still, with him right beside him, the Alpha pheromones clinging to his body clearly felt like Euigeon’s.

Though that was only natural.

“Hey, Beom. I heard an interesting story yesterday.”

A moment later, the lecture hall door opened with a clatter, and someone spoke up in greeting.

It was a student from another department who usually hung out with Euigeon whenever their schedules aligned.

Chaewoo briefly glanced at the seat next to him, but didn’t turn his head.

“You know that dance department Omega noona you met before? Next month, she’s getting marr—huh, who’s this…?”

Conscious of the student staring at him, Chaewoo lifted his head.

He was an Alpha.

Though they had crossed paths a few times during lectures, he had never faced him this closely, so he only learned his exact secondary gender today.

He greeted the unfamiliar Chaewoo sitting next to Euigeon awkwardly.

“I’m a senior in the same department as him.”

When he pointed at Euigeon with his finger, the other Alpha let out an “ah” with a sheepish expression.

“Ah, you’re in vocal music with Euigeon. Anyway, to finish what I was saying, that noona…”

“Tell me later, not now.”

Euigeon cut him off sharply.

“Huh?”

“I can’t focus on the class.”

“…The lecture hasn’t even started yet. What are you on about?”

The Alpha awkwardly scratched the back of his head and took a seat right in front of Euigeon.

Chaewoo rolled the pen in his grip and thought.

‘So he met with a dance department Omega?’

‘Could the Omega who supposedly ran away crying during a rut be the person he just mentioned?’

For no good reason, the wrists that had been tied up for so long yesterday throbbed.

A strange unpleasantness settled in.

Though it hadn’t strained them enough to leave wounds, doing something like that was undeniably abnormal.

“Euigeon, there’s something I’m curious about among the materials from the website last time…”

“What made you sit in the back for once?”

“Hi, Beom Euigeon.”

With the start of the lecture drawing near, several people came and went looking for Euigeon.

He knew the guy attracted attention, but since he wasn’t the type to speak loudly, he hadn’t realized it was to this extent.

Even though he wanted to tune it out, it wasn’t easy.

He thought about sleeping for even a few minutes before the professor arrived, but each time, someone came up to Euigeon and struck up a conversation.

Without exception, they looked curiously at the unfamiliar Chaewoo sitting beside him, clearly wanting an introduction.

Of course, both Euigeon and Chaewoo ignored that silent demand.

“Euigeon-hyung, did something good happen? You look like you’re in a great condition today.”

An Omega he had never seen before even approached and said something like that.

Though spoken indirectly, it carried the meaning that Euigeon’s pheromones were slightly different from usual.

Well, he was in rut and had spent all night tumbling with an Omega, so it made sense that he felt different somehow.

“Who knows. Maybe it’s because I had a late-night snack yesterday?”

“Ah, what is that. You don’t even eat late-night snacks, hyung.”

Euigeon’s answers were all strangely slick, completely devoid of any sincerity.

Even though it wasn’t directed at him, Chaewoo was on high alert despite his mounting fatigue, worried the target might turn to him.

Fortunately, the professor walked in right on time.

“Everyone looks low on energy since it’s morning. Alright, let’s all stretch out once. We’ll begin class right away.”

Needless to say, the lecture was boring from the moment it began.

And Chaewoo was so tired that the images before his eyes couldn’t properly form.

He had to strain his forehead and eyebrows hard just to see ahead clearly.

Gripping his pen tightly, he fought off the rushing drowsiness.

Exams were coming up soon, so he had to focus.

With his circumstances completely changed from before, the only things he could rely on were a decent educational background and his GPA.

Forcing his repeatedly drooping head upright, Chaewoo desperately jotted down what the professor said into his notebook and marked his textbook.

While waging that fierce battle against sleep, he completely forgot at some point that Euigeon was right beside him.

“Ah, there aren’t enough printouts. It seems Teaching Assistant Kim made a mistake. I’ll step out to the office for a moment, so any students who need to use the restroom may go ahead.”

While counting the printouts to distribute to the students, the professor found them short and left the lecture hall.

There was still another hour to wait before the two-hour lecture would end.

Chaewoo slumped face down onto his desk immediately.

‘I want to sleep.’

He desperately craved a deep sleep.

‘I don’t think I can hold out any longer.’

“Senior Seol.”

Euigeon called out to Chaewoo, who had just closed his eyes.

“What.”

Chaewoo barely replied in a cracked voice.

“Are you sleepy?”

“Yeah.”

‘How many hours did I sleep yesterday…’

He hadn’t been able to sleep soundly either, having repeatedly woken up moaning in pain throughout the night.

“If it’s too hard, go sleep in my car.”

“What?”

His closed eyes snapped wide open.

Then, lying face-to-face with him, Euigeon’s face came into view right before his nose.

Along with those black eyes and thick eyelashes that gave no clue as to what he was ever thinking.

Fortunately, no students were wandering around the lecture hall, and most were sitting in their seats reading books or looking at their phones, so no attention was drawn to the two of them.

“Attendance is already taken, so it’s fine to leave, isn’t it?”

“What if I get caught?”

“You can just come back and say you went to the restroom. I’ll call you to wake you up.”

“…….”

“If you’re anxious about the pheromones, I can walk you to the parking lot.”

Euigeon lightly tapped the tip of Chaewoo’s nose.

‘Why is he acting like this?’

Chaewoo narrowed his eyes and stared at Euigeon.

“Where did you park the car?”

“Where we were last time.”

“Last time?”

“In the spot where you sucked my d*ck, Senior Seol.”

Though the last sentence was spoken almost entirely by mouthing the words, it was more than enough to send heat rushing to Chaewoo’s face.

“You’ve lost your mind.”

Chaewoo muttered under his breath and shoved Euigeon’s face away.

A deflating chuckle tickled softly against his palm.

Instead of answering, Euigeon pulled out his car keys and dangled them.

To be honest, he was slightly tempted.

Because his head felt heavy as if someone had placed a boulder on his brain, and his entire body ached.

To study for other exams and even head to his part-time job this evening, he needed rest one way or another.

Since he had barely managed to skip work yesterday by asking Choi Jaeyeol, it was difficult to ask again or take the day off entirely.

“No. I’ll just sit through class.”

After deliberating, Chaewoo refused.

He really didn’t feel up to it because of what had happened in the car last time.

Euigeon suddenly being nice felt suspicious and simultaneously burdensome.

“When you can barely even walk properly.”

“And who made me like this?”

“That’s why I’m telling you to go rest.”

Before long, students moving in and out of the lecture hall were glancing at Euigeon and Chaewoo lying face down side by side.

Feeling guilty for no reason even at such casual glances, Chaewoo turned his head the other way.

“Seol Chaewoo.”

Then, he just calls his senior’s name as he pleases.

Whether there was an issue with the copier or something else, several minutes had passed, yet the professor still hadn’t returned.

‘I wish she’d take even longer.’

Tossing and turning a few times from his aching shoulders, Chaewoo thought to himself.

“Rather than falling asleep right there, I’d go rest. Hmm?”

“…You.”

In the end, Chaewoo pushed himself up.

“You’re not doing this just to pull something weird later, are you?”

If he left now, he could get exactly about an hour of sleep.

Knowing that his mind had changed, one corner of Euigeon’s mouth lifted.

“Want me to walk you there?”

“Forget it.”

Ultimately, Chaewoo snatched the car keys dangling from Euigeon’s hand and got up from his seat.

He simply lacked the confidence to sit through the lecture soberly.

Packing his bag, he walked straight out of the lecture hall and headed toward the parking lot.

Since the scent of Euigeon’s pheromones lingering on his body might be caught, he walked down the stairs while keeping as much distance as possible from the people in the hallway.

Today, too, there were only a few cars in the parking lot near the back gate.

Not a single passerby was in sight.

After checking his surroundings carefully, Chaewoo opened the car door and climbed into the back seat.

Since the tinting was fairly dark, no one would know who was inside unless they deliberately pressed their face to the glass and peered in.

Honestly, his consciousness was hazy enough that he wouldn’t even care if someone saw him right now.

Stretching his body out long, Chaewoo turned onto his side.

Just as he was about to close his eyes to fall asleep immediately, a rustling sound came from behind his back.

“What’s this?”

It seemed he had laid down on top of something.

When he reached out and picked it up, a plastic bag with ‘Hana Pharmacy’ printed on it appeared.

Inside, fatigue recovery drinks, painkillers, and bandages sold at pharmacies were all mixed up haphazardly.
