Chapter 61: Delicious Pudding

Time passed quickly, and several days slipped by in the blink of an eye.

Melorin lazily reclined on a wicker chair, flipping through the novel The Demon King Is My Loyal Dog in her hands while popping a few grapes into her mouth.

She gently swung her legs, then turned her head toward Louise, who stood beside her with her head lowered, and smiled.

“Louise, what should we eat for lunch today? How about some cake?”

“Ah? Y-yes… yes, Lady Melorin!” Louise was startled, her cheeks flushing faintly red.

“As long as Master likes it, I’m willing to make anything.”

Lilith stepped forward from the side, her voice still gentle, yet carrying the strictness unique to a teacher.

“Lady Melorin, break time is over. Today’s lesson should begin now.”

Hearing this, Melorin couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

“Eh? Why so fast?”

Her face immediately fell.

She didn’t even bother finishing her grapes, tossed the book aside, slid off the chair, and clung to Lilith’s arm while acting spoiled.

“I haven’t enjoyed myself enough yet~ Let me rest a little longer, just a tiny bit!”

Lilith smiled and shook her head, gently tapping Melorin’s nose with her finger.

“No. If you don’t attend class properly today, even afternoon snack time will be cancelled.”

“Ugh! That’s too cruel!” Melorin puffed out her cheeks and rubbed against Lilith’s arm.

“I’m clearly the Demon King’s wife. Why am I still being managed so strictly? Shouldn’t I be someone just below the Demon King?”

“Precisely because you are the Demon King’s wife, you can’t afford to slack off,” Lilith said as she bent down, gently stroking Melorin’s soft white hair.

Her eyes carried a doting smile.

“You’re everyone’s role model. How could you lead the way in being lazy?”

“I don’t want to be a role model! I want to be a lazy bug!”

Melorin suddenly sprang up from the ground and hopped back onto the chair, twisting around and throwing a tantrum.

“I won’t study! I won’t study! I don’t want to listen carefully in class, clean up, or answer questions! No——!”

Louise stood to the side, pressing her lips together as she tried to hold back her laughter, unable to resist covering her mouth lightly with her fingers.

“Oh my, Lady Melorin,” Lilith suddenly chuckled softly and glanced down the corridor.

“Demon King, you’re here?”

“Eh?!”

Melorin shot upright like a kitten whose tail had been stepped on, hurriedly looking around.

“Where? Where’s the Demon King?”

The surroundings were quiet.

Sunlight spilled over the long corridor, with not a single figure in sight.

She abruptly turned her head, glaring at Lilith with resentful eyes.

“Lilith! You tricked me again! The Demon King clearly isn’t here! You scare me with this every time. That’s too much!”

Lilith covered her mouth and laughed softly, her shoulders trembling slightly.

“But it works especially well on you, doesn’t it?”

A blush rose on Melorin’s cheeks.

She clenched her small fists and pointed at Lilith angrily.

“You evil Lilith! Bad person! Big bad person! I’ll remember this!”

“Oh? Really?” Lilith tilted her head and smiled, raising a finger to her lips.

“Since Lady Melorin says that about me… shall we double the homework during today’s afternoon tutoring?”

“No——!!!”

Melorin immediately clutched her head and wailed, collapsing limply onto the floor.

“Spare me! I was wrong! I shouldn’t have scolded you! I’ll never dare again!”

Seeing her exaggerated appearance, Lilith finally burst into laughter.

“Alright, alright. I was just teasing you. Don’t be so dramatic.”

Only then did Melorin slowly lift her head, her eyes still misty with grievance.

She turned her face away and snorted softly.

“Hmph. Bad person. I’ll never believe you again.”

Looking at Melorin’s smug expression, Lilith smiled helplessly and shook her head.

“Melorin, alright, alright. I surrender, okay? I really won’t assign you homework today. Is that enough?”

“Really?!”

Melorin jumped up from the chair at once, her eyes sparkling as she spun around excitedly on the spot.

“That’s great! This time, Melorin wins big! Yay——!”

Lilith laughed at her childlike behavior.

“Oh my, getting carried away? Even though there’s no homework today, don’t forget that you still have to study properly. You can’t just think about being lazy.”

Melorin immediately stood straight, patted her small chest, and grinned as she promised.

“Don’t worry, Lilith! Mission guaranteed complete! I’m very serious!”

Seeing her like this, Lilith smiled.

“That’s more like it.”

Lilith smiled gently, then turned toward Louise, who stood upright at the side with a respectful expression.

“Louise, let’s go. We’ll accompany Lady Melorin to dine.”

“Ah! O-okay!”

Louise snapped back to attention, nodding frantically as her face instantly flushed red.

“Lady Lilith, I will definitely serve Lady Melorin well!”

After that private conversation with Lilith in the spiritual space that day, Melorin’s state of mind had quietly changed.

She finally understood that the most urgent thing now was not impulsive resistance, but patience and disguise.

With the Demon King having set layer upon layer of shackles, any reckless action on her part would only invite deeper suspicion and restraint.

Since what the Demon King wanted was an obedient and submissive bride, she would grant her wish.

She would hide her sharp edges, weave a cocoon of docility, and quietly wait for the right moment to head toward the territory of the Lich race.

Thinking this, she no longer hesitated and主动伸出手,轻轻牵住了莉莉丝的手。

Lilith paused slightly, then a gentle smile surfaced in her eyes as she clasped Melorin’s hand in return.

The two walked hand in hand, with Louise quickly following behind.

“Melorin,” Lilith suddenly turned her head, a mysterious smile appearing on her face.

“Guess what we’re having for lunch today?”

“Hm? What is it?”

Melorin’s eyes lit up as she leaned closer, like a child waiting for a surprise.

“Tell me, tell me! Don’t keep me guessing!”

Lilith chuckled softly and leaned down to whisper into her ear in a breathy voice.

“It’s your favorite — pudding.”

“Pudding!”

Melorin immediately cheered, her steps becoming light and bouncy.

“That’s wonderful! Lilith is the best!”

Inside the Demon King’s office, Morgana lightly tapped the surface of a crystal ball with her fingertips.

Within the sphere, the image of Melorin holding a pudding was clearly reflected.

She gazed quietly at it and smiled as she spoke.

“After that day’s education…”

The Demon King’s fingers tapped against the desktop as she recalled Melorin’s behavior over the past few days.

“Her level of obedience has indeed increased quite a bit. The marks on her body haven’t fluctuated at all. No struggle, no resentment… simply perfect.”

She withdrew her fingers from the crystal ball and leaned back into her chair, a trace of lazy appraisal in her gaze.

“It seems excessive measures can be set aside for now. Let her be comfortable for a while longer.”

In the dining hall, Melorin was taking small bites of smooth, sweet pudding, a few crumbs clinging to the corner of her lips.

Just then, a familiar and gentle voice sounded behind her, tinged with playful amusement.

“Melorin, how does the pudding taste?”
