Chapter 91: The Taste of Bai Chen

Whenever a large-scale magical beast disaster occurred, most residents would hide in their homes. If the calamity swept the entire city, they would be collectively evacuated to shelters.

But there were always some rebellious individuals who thought they feared nothing. Taking advantage of the deserted streets, they would wander around, believing the whole area was their territory.

If they were far enough from the magical beast, they’d flip it off and shout insults. Or they’d go to someone’s window, throw stones to break the glass—the utmost mockery.

Now that the rampaging giant magical beast had been dealt with by the Hunter Guild, they became even bolder, enjoying the streets that were once again bustling.

Thinking they’d found a kindred spirit, the thug leader wouldn’t let such an opportunity slip. He directly greeted the young girl.

“You’re also seeking thrills? Looks like you’re scared.”

The thug leader was still smiling.

“No worries. Now you’ve got us big brothers to protect you. How about we go have some fun and put all the unpleasant stuff behind us?”

Mo Qiu didn’t answer. Instead, she looked up at them—pale face, tightly pressed lips, and a pace that took one step and rested for three. No matter how you looked at it, she seemed like a frightened little bunny, full of vulnerability, evoking pity.

The moment his eyes met hers, the thug leader’s heart raced.

This chick’s not bad.

The streets were empty, and they outnumbered her.

“Little beauty, what’s your name? Let’s be friends.”

The thug leader stepped forward, reaching for her delicate shoulder.

Just then, someone grabbed his shoulder first.

“Don’t bother me. Can’t you see I’m busy?”

The other party didn’t let go—instead, they gripped even tighter.

“Boss…”

“B-Behind!”

The thug leader froze, turned around, and was horrified.

The hand gripping his shoulder was actually reaching out from the glass shop window next to them!

A figure in a black robe stood inside the glass, their arm crossing the gap between two worlds, like a hunter seizing prey.

The thugs’ faces turned pale instantly. Particularly the leader, who frantically tried to shake off the robed hand.

“A magical beast! Don’t touch me!”

“Mom! Save me!”

“I don’t want to die!”

The underlings fled in a flash, leaving only the leader, who couldn’t escape the iron grip and collapsed to the ground.

Mo Qiu smelled a stench and noticed the wet patch under his pants.

“D-Don’t kill me…”

The thug leader’s breathing quickened, then his eyes rolled back, and he fell to the ground foaming at the mouth.

Bravado often concealed the weakest hearts.

Mo Qiu watched his fear calmly.

The black-robed person finally released their hand, bowed to the girl, and vanished from the window.

Still, this guy was too useless. I only tasted a little and he passed out.

Mo Qiu patted her little belly—still very hungry. At least it alleviated the Erosion a bit, giving her more stamina to run home.

When she reached the bottom of her residential building, she ran into the landlord.

“Mo Qiu, why are you still outside? It’s dangerous.”

“No… I’m fine.”

“If you say so. Mo Qiu?”

Mo Qiu didn’t want to bother with him; she just wanted to get upstairs and completely eliminate the effects of the Erosion.

The extreme emotions provided by Chaos soon proved insufficient. Standing at her door, Mo Qiu’s legs weakened, and she nearly fell.

She pulled the keys from her pocket and struggled to insert them into the lock.

As she pushed the door open, the girl collapsed heavily to the floor, squinting and gasping for breath.

It hurt. The big bunny hitting the ground really hurt.

So tired, so hungry, about to pass out. Can’t move a single finger.

Her consciousness nearly sank into the abyss. If she lost control of her body at this critical moment, she’d likely become a mindless monster.

Then I’ll be like a true magical beast, hunting humans madly, dying either from physical exhaustion or at the hands of a hunter.

Bai Chen would discover my true nature, and perhaps he’d kill me without hesitation.

If I were the person most important to him, maybe my death could turn him into a monster slayer who would never know joy or sorrow again.

But our bond isn’t strong enough yet. Bai Chen went on a date with another woman even with me around. Even if I died at his hands, he’d probably only feel guilty for a few months, then hold another woman in bed.

Just thinking about it invigorated Mo Qiu. Bai Chen sleeping with another woman? Unforgivable!

How dare anyone try to take my person—and someone so important?

The entire scheme revolved around Bai Chen. Without him, the scam was like going to the toilet without toilet paper, or eating instant noodles without the seasoning packet—what was the point?

Mo Qiu propped herself up, tried to stand, but failed. She had no choice but to crawl forward, slowly making her way into her room.

Where is it? Where did I put it?

Mo Qiu reached under the bed, pulled out her secret treasure box, opened it, and rummaged through.

Whatever I find, I’ll use. She looked at the pink “Rich Lady’s Happy Egg” in her hand, climbed onto the bed with difficulty, and lay face down, grabbing her pants.

At this point, the clothing was clearly too troublesome. She simply took it off and tossed it aside, then picked up the pink Happy Egg.

The girl changed positions, gritted her teeth and strained, then grabbed the remote on the bed.

Just then, she heard hurried footsteps outside.

Mo Qiu, are you in?

Damn!

At least let me recover enough to speak normally before coming…

Mo Qiu hurriedly crawled to the bedroom door and closed it just in time, almost hitting Bai Chen in the face.

What’s going on? Bai Chen froze in place.

Out of concern for her, he still spoke loudly:

“Mo Qiu, are you okay? Can you open the door?”

Open the door?

If Bai Chen finds out I have Erosion, it’s over. I have to get rid of him.

No, that would arouse suspicion. I have to take a gamble.

If I win, maybe Bai Chen will care for me more and leave that stinky woman. If I lose, my identity is exposed and all plans fall through.

The girl first hid the Happy Egg.

“Bai Chen, you can come in.”

“…Okay.”

Bai Chen pushed the door open. He didn’t see Mo Qiu, but noticed the rolled-up blanket on the bed.

“Mo Qiu, what’s wrong?”

Hearing his voice, the girl turned around. Her awful pallor made Bai Chen’s heart clench.

Her porcelain skin was sickly pale, her lips bloodless, as if she were enduring some pain.

Bai Chen approached slowly, afraid that any sudden move would make her flee like a frightened animal.

Mo Qiu looked up and threw herself into his arms without a word.

Bai Chen was startled. Feeling her trembling non-stop, he opened his arms and gently held her shoulders.

“Mo Qiu, is there anything I can do?”

Mo Qiu pulled back from his embrace, her lips slightly parting.

“I need… your arm.”

“Okay.”

Bai Chen immediately rolled up his sleeve and extended his arm to her.

To get close to a frightened little beast, you had to show you meant no harm.

Mo Qiu grabbed his arm, opened her mouth to reveal white teeth, and bit down directly.

Even though he was prepared, Bai Chen’s face contorted in pain, his features quickly twisting.

Bai Chen, who hadn’t cried out when injured in battle, let out the most miserable scream of his life. But he quickly shut his mouth, grabbing the blanket beside him to distract from the pain.

Mo Qiu clung like a hungry python, biting his arm fiercely, absorbing his emotions.

Magical beasts had two ways of feeding: one was directly absorbing emotional fluctuations in the air, convenient when there were many prey, but not completely efficient. The other was through liquid contact, absorbing a single individual’s emotions—slower, but fully tasting the prey’s flavor.

This was Bai Chen’s taste, mixed with worry, surprise, and panic… Absolutely delicious.

Even the rusty smell spreading in her mouth seemed to gain a special flavor from his emotions, which she didn’t let slip by.

The Erosion was receding. Mo Qiu’s expression shifted from pain to enjoyment.

I’m feeding on Bai Chen’s emotions, and he’s offering them to me willingly.

Just thinking about it made the girl involuntarily squeeze her thighs, her cheeks flushing, and she bit even harder.

After who knows how long, a satisfied Mo Qiu finally let go, drawing out bloody threads.

As for Bai Chen, he was already as good as dead. It took Mo Qiu calling him several times before he reacted.

“Mo Qiu, are you okay now?”

“Mm.”

Saying he was fine was a lie. Bai Chen felt his body utterly drained and his mind sluggish.

The girl had returned to her usual doll-like expression. If not for the thin sweat still on her face, Bai Chen would have thought it was all an illusion.

On Bai Chen’s arm, a row of teeth marks was clear and horrifying. The pain had long turned to numbness.

“What happened to you, and that phone call earlier…”

“Someone broke in.” Mo Qiu deliberately leaned closer. “Lucky you answered the phone.”

“Were you scared?”

Her hand was still trembling. Bai Chen’s eyes widened.

“Did it remind you of the past?”

“Mm.”

Damn those guys.

Bai Chen remembered Mo Qiu saying she used to be bullied at school; she probably had trauma from school violence.

Never thought someone would try to break in during the chaos in Fengling City!

As someone with a huge psychological shadow from the past, Bai Chen understood how awful it was when old wounds were reopened.

The guy ran away, but Mo Qiu was terrified, desperately needing someone to soothe her fear. Good thing I came back in time—worth getting bitten.

“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Bai Chen gently hugged her. “You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”

“No, I still am a little.”

“Need to bite again? It’s fine. I’m willing as long as you are.”

As he spoke, Bai Chen rolled up his other sleeve.

“As long as I am…” Mo Qiu narrowed her eyes slightly.

Instead of looking at his arm, she bent down and took something from under the pillow.

For a moment, Bai Chen thought she’d pull out a dagger. But when he saw the oval pink object and remote in her palm, his heart exclaimed it was worse than a dagger!

The pink oval plastic toy was wet with an unknown liquid.

“You said you’d be willing.” Mo Qiu opened her palm.

Bai Chen immediately wanted to take back his words.
