Chapter 93: Reckless

At this point, the helicopter was already two or three meters off the ground.

Seeing Yukina appear on the hotel rooftop, Ephnel quickly put the phone to her ear.

“Yukina!? How did you get here?”

“Naoko!”

Yukina confirmed Ephnel’s figure, shouting Ephnel’s name, which traveled from the phone to Ephnel’s ear.

“I’m going with you!”

Hearing Yukina’s words, Ephnel’s expression turned grim, and the hand holding the phone froze.

“What nonsense are you talking about! You can’t!”

“I’m going!”

Yukina, however, held her phone and retorted loudly and forcefully.

“I have to go! Naoko, I’m going to follow you no matter what. I don’t want to be like before, standing somewhere I can’t see you, knowing nothing!”

“Yukina, you…”

“I have to go… It took so much for Yukina to finally be with Onee-chan, to finally get to this point with Onee-chan. Every time I see you get hurt, Yukina’s heart feels like it’s being cut by a knife! Why don’t you understand, Onee-chan… I absolutely don’t want to be thrown into a place all by myself again…”

Yukina tilted her head up, squinting her eyes, looking expectantly at Ephnel’s figure on the helicopter.

“Naoko, I’m your lover, aren’t I… I don’t want to be pushed away by you anymore. If it’s going to be like that, it would have been better if you had treated me coldly from the beginning…”

The two of them, less than fifty meters apart, listened to each other’s voices through their phones.

Ephnel gripped her phone tightly, staring blankly at Yukina’s gaze.

She bit her lip gently, her face showing resolve.

“Even so… I can’t let you follow me into danger…”

“Is that so…”

Yukina suddenly smiled… a bitter look of disappointment on her face as she lowered her head.

“Yukina…”

“I knew you would say that, Onee-chan…” Yukina raised her gaze again.

“Onee-chan, I really do understand you. In that case, Yukina will just do it her own way.”

Then, she took a deep breath, the sound of her heartbeat pounding in her chest.

She shouted into the phone, “Onee-chan, do you remember four days ago? I could find you all by myself then, and it will be the same today. Even if you push me away, I will definitely catch up to you!”

After saying that, she hung up the phone, then bent her knees slightly, and with a powerful push from her feet, she charged recklessly towards the helicopter.

She… was planning to jump onto it.

Her position was only about twenty meters horizontally from the helicopter, and the vertical distance was no more than five meters.

With Yukina’s current physical condition, it was theoretically possible for her to do it.

But the danger involved was self-evident.

If she misjudged the distance or position, the only thing awaiting Yukina was a fall from the hotel rooftop, or being hit by the rapidly rotating propellers, and then…

Yukina was just an untrained quasi-Agent.

No one knew what she was capable of.

Ephnel realized Yukina’s intention, and her face turned pale.

“Yukina! Don’t come over! It’s dangerous!”

“Hold it steady!”

Ephnel hurriedly shouted at the pilot.

“I’m trying to…”

Yukina had already reached the edge of the rooftop.

Her gaze was fixed on Ephnel, and their eyes met.

She leaped forcefully, her hair and skirt flying in the night sky.

“Yukina!!”

Ephnel shouted, and without a second thought, she snapped the safety buckle and jumped from the helicopter towards Yukina.

“Miss Ephnel!!”

The man in black on the helicopter was stunned.

In mid-air, Ephnel and Yukina reached out to each other, but their fingertips only touched for a moment before slipping apart.

—Yukina’s jump was not high enough.

“Onee-chan…”

“Yukina!”

Ephnel screamed Yukina’s name at the top of her lungs, and in an instant, her clothes were enveloped in a silver halo as she entered Sync.

A halo of light appeared under her feet.

Ephnel was now like a bat hanging upside down in the night.

She bent her body slightly, using the “steps” as a foothold, and flew swiftly towards Yukina, grabbing the hand that had just slipped away.

“Naoko…”

Ephnel pulled Yukina over and held her tightly in her arms, using the “steps” under her feet as leverage, and then grabbed onto the cable thrown down by the man in black.

“You’re being too reckless!”

Ephnel yelled at Yukina.

Her expression was extremely grim.

She took a deep breath, cold sweat covering her back, her heart pounding against her chest.

To be honest, Ephnel was really angry.

But in her arms, Yukina just smiled at her foolishly.

In her current banished form, Ephnel looked like a silver-haired loli who was a head shorter than Yukina.

Even her angry expression seemed particularly unthreatening.

“Naoko, I knew it.”

“You didn’t know!”

Ephnel shouted loudly and forcefully, “I’m really angry!”

“Mmm…”

Although Ephnel’s voice was really cute at the moment, sounding like she was pouting, Yukina could still feel the anger in her tone.

“I’m sorry… Naoko, I’ll never do this again, I was wrong…” she humbled herself, begging for forgiveness.

“I’ll make it up to you…”

As she spoke, she wrapped her arms around Ephnel’s neck, looked at the silver-haired loli before her, and made a gesture to kiss her.

But this time, Ephnel turned her head and dodged it.

“Three days.”

Ephnel gritted her teeth, panting sullenly.

“For three days, you’re not allowed to touch me!”

“Onee-chan~ I’m sorry…”

“Go away!”

Ephnel mercilessly slapped away the hands that were about to hang on her neck.

Sitting opposite them was a man dressed in black.

He watched the performance between the two sisters with an awkward expression on his face.

Although he had long heard that Ephnel had a younger sister in high school and that Ephnel doted on her very much, he never expected this younger sister to be so reckless.

If Ephnel hadn’t saved her just now, she would have undoubtedly died.

This pair of sisters, one was the strongest chief-level Agent, and the other was a hidden “Absolute Accommodator,” and their personalities were so… hard to describe.

It had to be said, they were truly a family.

“Please don’t… Onee-chan… I was wrong…”

Yukina’s soft apology came from beside her ear.

Yukina rubbed against Ephnel’s shoulder pitifully, but Ephnel remained unmoved.

Her dim gaze was fixed on the window.

The city’s night view and the stars in the night sky complemented each other, creating a beautiful sight.

But Ephnel was in no mood to appreciate it at the moment.

The light from the universe had been distorted countless times in the vast expanse of time and space before reaching Earth, and then it was obscured by the White Hole Erosion before falling into people’s eyes, having lost its original brilliance.

It was indistinguishable to the naked eye, but research showed that a “part” of them had been taken away.

They were no longer the original starlight.

Ephnel was very scared that the White Hole Erosion would take a part of her away.

Take away her Yukina.

Ephnel was really angry, yet she couldn’t help but feel sad.

She sighed.

Beep beep—

Just then, a sound came from the earpiece.

It was a communication from Masaki Hinaki.
