Chapter 91: A Desperate Craving and a Shocking Revelation

Whenever a major demonic disaster struck, residents typically sought refuge in shelters.

If the calamity threatened to engulf the entire city, they would evacuate en masse from their homes.

Yet, there were always those rebellious souls who believed themselves utterly fearless.

They would wander the deserted streets, convinced that the entire area belonged to them.

Should the monsters be sufficiently distant, these individuals would defiantly flip them off.

They would shout insults, or perhaps rush to someone’s window, throwing stones to shatter the glass, reveling in their mockery.

Now that the monstrous demons wreaking havoc had been dealt with by the Cat Demon Guild, their audacity only grew.

They indulged in the quiet streets, savoring the tranquility before the bustle returned.

Mistaking her for one of their own, the leader of the hooligans certainly wouldn’t let such a prime opportunity slip by.

He immediately greeted the young woman.

“Are you also one to seek thrills? You seem quite frightened.”

The hooligan leader maintained his jovial smile.

“It’s alright. We’ve got your back now. How about we go have some fun? Let’s forget all your worries, shall we?”

Mo Qiu offered no reply, instead lifting her gaze to them. Her face was pallid.

Her lips were tightly pressed, and her pace was so slow, she seemed to take three rests for every step. No matter how one looked at it, she appeared a terrified little rabbit, radiating vulnerability that stirred a sense of pity.

The moment their eyes met, the hooligan leader’s heart gave a sudden lurch.

‘This girl isn’t bad at all.’

‘The streets are empty, and we outnumber her.’

“Hey there, pretty lady, what’s your name? Let’s be friends.”

The hooligan leader stepped forward, approaching her and attempting to place his hand on her slender shoulder.

Just then, someone else seized the hooligan leader’s shoulder first.

“Don’t bother me. Can’t you see I’m busy?”

Far from releasing him, the grip tightened further.

“Boss…”

“B-behind you!”

The hooligan leader shrieked, spinning around to look, his face draining of color in horror.

The hand clutching his shoulder had inexplicably emerged from the glass window of the shop next door!

It was as if a fissure in the world had opened, and a hunter had ensnared its prey.

The faces of the hooligans instantly turned ashen, particularly the leader, who frantically tried to shake off the black-robed figure’s hand.

“Monster! Don’t touch me!”

“Mommy, help me!”

“I don’t want to die yet!”

His underlings scattered like mice, leaving only the hooligan leader, who stumbled to the ground, unable to break free from the iron-vice grip.

Mo Qiu detected a foul odor and noticed the ground beneath his buttocks was wet.

“No, please don’t kill me…”

The hooligan leader gasped for breath, then his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed, foaming at the mouth.

Those who put on airs often possess the most fragile spirits.

Mo Qiu savored his fear.

Only then did the black-robed figure release his grip, bowing to the young woman before vanishing into the bay window.

‘He was utterly useless, though. I barely tasted anything before he passed out.’

Mo Qiu rubbed her stomach, still feeling hungry. At the very least, it had alleviated the Erosion Syndrome, granting her enough energy to rush home.

Upon reaching the ground floor of her apartment building, Mo Qiu bumped into the landlord.

“Mo Qiu, why are you still outside? It’s dangerous!”

“No… I’m fine.”

“Good, Mo Qiu?”

Mo Qiu couldn’t be bothered with small talk, her sole desire to ascend the stairs quickly and completely dispel the effects of the Erosion Syndrome.

The overwhelming surge of extreme emotions quickly dwindled, and Mo Qiu, standing before her door, found her legs growing weak, almost causing her to collapse.

It took a considerable effort for her to insert the key into the lock.

As she pushed the door open, the young woman tumbled heavily to the floor, panting with narrowed eyes.

‘It hurts so much. My chest hitting the ground was excruciating.’

‘I’m so tired, so hungry, I’m about to faint. I can’t even move a single finger.’

Her consciousness nearly plunged into an abyss; losing control of her body at such a critical juncture would inevitably transform her into a mindless monster.

‘Then I would hunt humans madly, just like a true demon.’

‘Either I’d die from physical exhaustion, or at the hands of demon hunters.’

‘Bai Chen would discover my true form, and perhaps he would kill me without hesitation.’

‘If I were the most important person to him, perhaps my death could transform him into a demon bane, one who would never fear the living.’

‘But our emotional bond isn’t strong enough yet. Bai Chen is still seeing other women, even with me around. Even if I died by his hand, he’d probably only feel guilty for a few months, then find solace in another woman’s arms.’

The mere thought invigorated Mo Qiu considerably. Bai Chen, with another woman? Unforgivable!

‘How dare someone try to steal *my* person—and such an important person at that!’

‘This entire charade revolves around Bai Chen. A charade without Bai Chen is like going to the bathroom without toilet paper, or eating instant noodles without the seasoning packet—what’s the point?’

Mo Qiu propped herself up, attempting to stand but failing. She resorted to crawling forward, slowly making her way into her room.

‘Where is it? Where did I put it?’

Mo Qiu reached under her bed, retrieved her secret treasure box, and rummaged through it after opening it.

She decided to use whatever she found, glancing at the “Rich Woman’s Pleasure Egg” in her hand.

She struggled to climb onto the bed, then lay prone, grabbing at her trousers.

Her white stockings felt utterly inconvenient at such a moment, so she simply pulled them off.

Then she picked up the pink pleasure egg.

The young woman shifted her position, gritted her teeth, and then grabbed the remote control from the bed.

Just then, she heard hurried footsteps outside.

– Mo Qiu? Mo Qiu! Are you there?

‘Oh no!’

‘At least wait until I can speak normally again…’

From the bed to the bedroom door, the closing door almost collided with Bai Chen’s face.

What’s going on? Bai Chen froze in place.

Out of concern for her, Bai Chen still spoke loudly:

“Mo Qiu, are you alright? Can you open the door?”

‘Open the door?’

‘If Bai Chen discovers I have Erosion Syndrome, it’s all over. I must find a way to make him leave.’

‘No, that would only arouse suspicion. I’ll just have to gamble.’

‘If I win, perhaps Bai Chen will care for me even more and leave that wretched woman.’

‘If I lose, my identity will be exposed, and all my plans will be ruined.’

The young woman first hid the pleasure egg.

“Bai Chen, you can come in.”

“Alright.”

Bai Chen pushed the door open and entered, not seeing Mo Qiu but noticing the bed’s comforter rolled into a ball.

“Mo Qiu, what’s wrong?”

Hearing his voice, the young woman turned, her peculiar complexion causing a pang in Bai Chen’s heart.

Her fair skin was morbidly pale, her lips utterly devoid of color.

She appeared to be enduring some profound pain.

Bai Chen approached slowly, fearing that any sudden movement might make her bolt like a small animal.

Mo Qiu lifted her head and, without a word, lunged into his embrace.

Bai Chen was stunned; upon realizing her body was trembling uncontrollably, he too gently wrapped his arms around her shoulders.

“Mo Qiu, is there anything I can do to help you?”

Mo Qiu pulled away from his embrace, her lips parting slightly.

“I need… your arm.”

“Alright.”

Bai Chen immediately rolled up his sleeve, extending his arm towards her.

‘To approach an injured small beast, one must first let it know there’s no hostility.’

Mo Qiu seized his arm, opened her mouth to reveal her pristine white teeth, and then directly bit down.

Even though he had prepared himself, Bai Chen’s expression drastically changed, his features rapidly twisting in pain.

Bai Chen, who had never cried out even when injured in battle, now let out the most agonizing scream of his life. However, he quickly shut his mouth, grabbing the comforter beside him, attempting to divert his pain.

Mo Qiu, like a famished python, bit down fiercely on his arm, refusing to let go, absorbing his emotions.

Demons feed in two ways: one is to directly absorb emotional fluctuations from the air, which is convenient when there are many prey, but its drawback is that it cannot fully absorb them.

The other method is to absorb an individual’s emotions directly through bodily fluid contact.

This method is slow, but it allows for the complete savoring of the prey’s essence.

This was Bai Chen’s taste, a blend of worry, surprise, and panic—emotions that proved utterly delicious.

Even the metallic taste of blood in her mouth seemed to acquire a unique flavor due to his intense emotions, not a single trace of it going unnoticed. As the Erosion Syndrome receded, Mo Qiu’s expression gradually shifted from agony to pure enjoyment.

‘I’m feeding on Bai Chen’s emotions, and he’s even actively offering them to me.’

The mere thought made the young woman involuntarily clench her thighs, her cheeks flushing as she bit down even harder.

After an indeterminate amount of time, a thoroughly satisfied Mo Qiu finally released her bite, a crimson thread of saliva stretching between them.

As for Bai Chen, he already looked like a dead man; it took several calls from Mo Qiu before he finally reacted.

“Mo Qiu, are you alright now?”

“Mhm.”

To say he was fine would be a lie. Bai Chen felt exceptionally weak, his spirit far from lively.

The young woman had reverted to her usual doll-like expression; had it not been for the fine sweat still clinging to her cheeks, Bai Chen might have believed everything that just happened was an illusion.

On Bai Chen’s arm, a row of teeth marks stood out, stark and horrifying; the pain had long since morphed into numbness.

“What happened to you, and what was with that phone call earlier…?”

“Someone broke in,” Mo Qiu began, purposefully moving closer to him. “Luckily, you answered the phone.”

“Were you scared?”

Her hand was still trembling, and Bai Chen’s eyes widened.

“Did it remind you of the past?”

“Mhm.”

‘Damn those people to hell.’

Bai Chen recalled Mo Qiu mentioning the lingering trauma of being bullied frequently in school.

‘Horrifying.’

‘To think someone would attempt a home invasion while Windchime City was in chaos!’

As someone who also carried immense psychological scars from the past, Bai Chen understood perfectly how agonizing it was when old traumas were triggered.

‘Even though the person had fled, Mo Qiu was terrified, desperately needing someone to soothe her fear. Thankfully, I returned in time; being bitten was worth it.’

“It’s alright, it’s alright,” Bai Chen murmured, gently embracing her. “You don’t need to be afraid anymore.”

“No, I still am, a little.”

“Want another bite? It’s fine, whatever you wish, I’m okay with it.”

As Bai Chen spoke, he rolled up the sleeve of his other arm.

“Whatever you wish…” Mo Qiu’s eyes narrowed slightly.

She didn’t look at his arm; instead, she bent down and retrieved something hidden beneath the pillow.

For a fleeting moment, Bai Chen thought she would pull out a dagger from under the pillow.

However, upon seeing the oval-shaped pink object and a remote control in her palm, he gasped internally: ‘This is arguably *worse* than a dagger!’

The pink, oval-shaped plastic toy was damp, covered in an unknown liquid.

“You said you’d be willing if it was me,” Mo Qiu stated, spreading her palm open.

Bai Chen immediately wanted to retract his previous words.
