“Students, please settle down. This is our new classmate, transferring from Aofeng Private High School. Please introduce yourself.”
Ji Wenyan watched as the balding homeroom teacher, chalk duster in hand, smacked it against the desk. A cloud of dust billowed, prompting Ji Wenyan to instinctively step back a few paces.
Ji Wenyan felt no particular apprehension about transferring schools.
He had already died once.
What was there to fear about a mere transfer?
Besides, now wasn’t the time to worry about such trivialities. His priority was finding Bai Mengze.
Without her, once the ‘Tree of Vitality’ reached zero, he would die again.
Ever since learning about the ‘Vitality Points’, Ji Wenyan had cast all other concerns aside. His sole focus now was to find Bai Mengze and enhance her attributes.
It turned out that signing the contract was merely the beginning. Only by cultivating the chosen individual into a ‘Divine Beauty’ could he truly escape the threat of death.
To become a Divine Beauty, five attributes—Beauty, Intelligence, Physique, Talent, and Aesthetics—all had to reach a ‘Divine’ level.
These levels progressed from Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Master, Perfect, to Divine.
Currently, however, Bai Mengze’s five attributes hadn’t even reached Novice. They were merely at the basic ‘Entry-level’.
Advancing from Entry-level to Novice required 100 experience points.
From Novice to Intermediate, it was 1,000 points.
Intermediate to Advanced demanded 10,000 points, and so on. Reaching the Divine level would require a staggering ten million experience points.
As the system enlightened him on these details, Ji Wenyan couldn’t help but feel that the journey ahead was long and arduous.
Yet, there was still a glimmer of hope.
As long as he cultivated Bai Mengze into a Divine Beauty, he would finally be free!
“Hello everyone, my name is Ji Wenyan. I…”
Snapping out of his thoughts, Ji Wenyan looked up at the students seated below the podium. Just as he uttered his name, his expression suddenly froze.
The girl sitting by the window—wasn’t that Bai Mengze, the very person he had been searching for?
This was nothing short of a destined encounter!
“Wow, he’s so handsome! Compared to him, all the boys in our class are just rejects!” – “And he’s rich too! Aofeng Private High School is an elite academy; you can’t get in without money or influence.” – “I want to have his babies!” – “This man, I’ve got my eyes on him.”
As Ji Wenyan remained momentarily stunned, the girls in the class, captivated by his handsome features and affluent background, immediately gazed at him with hearts in their eyes. They unanimously thought that such a high-quality man must be snatched up quickly.
Otherwise, if another woman got to him first, they would regret it immensely.
“Ahem, perhaps Ji-同學 is a bit nervous. Alright! Stop staring, all of you. Now, let me see where Ji-同學 should sit…”
Seeing that Ji Wenyan hadn’t spoken again for a while, the balding homeroom teacher didn’t press the issue. Instead, he pondered the best seating arrangement for him.
It was uncommon for students to transfer in their final year of high school.
Even rarer were transfers from Aofeng Private High School.
After all, most people were scrambling to get into Aofeng Private High School, yet Ji Wenyan had done the exact opposite, a move that was truly unfathomable.
As the homeroom teacher, he had the authority to review Ji Wenyan’s student file.
Ji Wenyan hadn’t been expelled or disciplined by his previous school; he had transferred voluntarily!
Regardless, a rich second-generation like him was not someone to easily provoke.
Take Shen Hua from their class, for instance; he didn’t even dare to manage him, fearing he might suddenly lose his position.
“Teacher, Ji Wenyan wants to sit next to Bai Mengze! Bai Mengze doesn’t have a deskmate, so just let him sit there!”
No sooner had he thought of Shen Hua than Shen Hua’s voice rang out.
Upon hearing Bai Mengze’s name, the homeroom teacher’s face registered a hint of surprise. He wondered why she had been mentioned by Shen Hua.
The homeroom teacher felt immense sympathy for Bai Mengze, who had once been the top student in the entire school, especially after the tragic events her family had endured.
Sympathy, however, was one thing.
He couldn’t risk his job for Bai Mengze, so it was better to simply let her endure the slight inconvenience.
He couldn’t afford to ignore Shen Hua’s words.
“Ahem, in that case, Ji-同學, please sit next to Bai Mengze!”
“Alright.”
Hearing the homeroom teacher’s voice, Ji Wenyan felt it was nothing short of divine music.
At the same time, he cast a grateful look towards Shen Hua.
Such an overt and undisguised expression made Shen Hua frown slightly. He had originally suggested Ji Wenyan sit next to Bai Mengze purely out of a desire to watch the drama unfold.
Now, however, he suddenly regretted it.
He had a distinct feeling he had merely paved the way for Ji Wenyan’s success.
