Chapter 34: A Call to the Principal

Upon seeing Ji Wenyan, Bai Mengze was somewhat startled. She had only come behind the dorm building because she had been tricked. Yet, how had Ji Wenyan known to find her here?

As Ji Wenyan spoke, his voice was laced with a slight gasp, betraying the haste of his sprint to reach her. A wave of unexpected warmth washed over Bai Mengze.

Ever since her parents’ deaths, her life had been a series of misfortunes—from being detained for assault to selling her home to cover damages. Everyone around her had quietly distanced themselves.

Yet, Ji Wenyan, like a moth drawn to a flame, had flown towards her with unwavering determination. This sudden realization made Bai Mengze feel that her life wasn’t merely a canvas of gray. Ji Wenyan had already begun to infuse it with vibrant hues, slowly spreading across her world.

“Phew,” he exhaled, “It seems even a moment apart and you’re already in danger! Next time, just stay by my side. I’ll protect you!”

Observing the unfamiliar women poised to attack Bai Mengze, Ji Wenyan felt a surge of relief that he had arrived just in time. Another moment’s delay, and his reward would have sprouted wings and flown away!

Bai Mengze’s combat prowess was formidable; three women as thin as bamboo poles were no match for her. If he had waited for Bai Mengze to handle them herself, what would be the point of his intervention?

As Ji Wenyan’s breathing steadied and he reached Bai Mengze’s side, he saw the bewildered expression on her face. He couldn’t help but shake his head with a wry smile, then voiced his inner thoughts.

‘Ever since meeting Bai Mengze, the woman seemed to constantly stumble into all sorts of perilous situations.’

‘This made Ji Wenyan realize his future would certainly not be lacking in missions…’

‘Still, it was a good thing, allowing him to accumulate more vitality and Star Origin points. It was just unfortunate for Bai Mengze.’

“Who are you? This isn’t your place to play the hero. Don’t get in our way!”

“Get in your way? What exactly are you doing right now? Are you trying to bully Bai Mengze?”

“Hmph, what if we are bullying her? My brother is the student council president of First High. If you dare to help Bai Mengze today, you can forget about your academic credits.”

Before Bai Mengze could even utter a word, Xuan Yan, standing nearby, immediately frowned and spoke, clearly displeased with Ji Wenyan’s disruptive appearance.

‘That woman, Bai Mengze, always flirted around, relying on her looks. Not only had she failed to ensnare her brother, but now there were others, too.’

‘This boy in front of her was quite handsome, so how had Bai Mengze managed to reel him in? However, with her brother as the student council president, making life difficult for any student at First High was effortlessly achievable.’

‘The importance of academic credits was something every student at First High understood implicitly. After all, they were a crucial credential for university admission. Even with excellent grades, insufficient credits would prevent many prestigious universities from accepting such a student.’

“Oh, a student council president for a brother? That sounds incredibly impressive!”

“Since you know that, why are you still standing here? Get out of my way before I make you move…”

“Yanyan, stop talking! I know who he is! He’s Ji Wenyan, the new transfer student, a rich second-generation heir. They say his family is incredibly powerful; even Shen Hua has to humble himself before him.”

“What?!”

Ji Wenyan’s face remained impassive; even upon hearing them recognize his identity, he merely curled his lips into a cold smirk. When dealing with those who liked to throw their weight around, he typically believed in giving them a taste of their own medicine.

With that thought, Ji Wenyan pulled his phone from his pocket and directly dialed the First High principal’s number. He then put the call on speakerphone.

“Hello, is this the principal? I’m the new transfer student. Ji Wenlin is my father… Yes, that’s right, I’m his son. I’m currently being threatened by the student council president’s sister; she says she’ll have the student council president deduct my academic credits.”

To get his son into First High, Ji Wenyan’s father had pulled many strings, ultimately arranging for Ji Wenyan to be directly enrolled by the bureau. Such a grand gesture had immediately clued the First High principal into the fact that this transfer student possessed an extraordinary background.

Consequently, upon receiving Ji Wenyan’s call, cold sweat began to stream down the principal’s forehead. If anything were to happen to Ji Wenyan at school, he, as the principal, would certainly not be able to escape responsibility!

“Student Ji, rest assured, the school absolutely will not tolerate such unhealthy trends.”

“Hmm, with the principal’s words, I feel much more at ease! However, I don’t think a student council president with such a sister is a suitable candidate. Perhaps it would be better to select someone else for the role!”

“Oh, and remember to state the reason for his dismissal from the presidency: it’s all because of his wonderful sister.”

As Ji Wenyan uttered these words, a hint of disdain curved his lips, convinced that these women possessed brains akin to pigs. ‘They wished to bully Bai Mengze? Did they truly believe themselves worthy?’

Upon hearing the voice from the other end of the phone, undeniably the principal’s, Xuan Yan and the other two girls instantly turned as white as sheets, realizing they had caused a monumental disaster.
