Chapter 68: Unexpected Allies and the Azure Wolf Cavalry

Almost simultaneously, the two women beside her moved.

“Heavenly Frost, Ten Thousand Miles!”

Gu Chang’an cried out, her voice a sharp, clear command. The Frostbright Sword flew from her grasp, unleashing streams of stark white sword qi that shot skyward.

In an instant, a frost domain, woven from sword qi, materialized before them, causing the air temperature to plummet. Innumerable snowflakes condensed from thin air, each one a sharp, formidable sword intent.

Fen Yu crashed headlong into the sword domain, her speed immediately faltering. The burning azure flames that enveloped her body were visibly suppressed by the extreme cold of the sword intent, dimming considerably.

Yet, she was a Soul Transformation Realm great demon, after all. Even on the verge of death, she was not one to be easily trapped by a Void Returning cultivator.

“Break for this Venerable One… break!”

Fen Yu roared in fury, the remnants of her demonic energy erupting with a thunderous force. She actually used sheer brute strength to tear open a rift in the icy sword domain.

Just as this critical moment unfolded, a blood-red phantom appeared behind Fen Yu, moving like a ghost.

“Myriad Flower… Overthrow the World!”

Ling Shuangjue’s voice was devoid of emotion, utterly indifferent.

With a gentle flick of the Abyssal Slaughter Sword, a terrifying crimson light surged forth, momentarily engulfing the heavens.

Countless blood-red roses, forged from the purest killing intent, bloomed from the void, instantly submerging Fen Yu’s figure.

One was cold, the other hot; one still, the other dynamic.

One was like ten-thousand-year-old profound ice, sealing the world, while the other resembled an abyssal sea of blood, devouring all living things.

The Qingyun Sect’s Supreme Forgetfulness Sword Art and the Myriad Flower Blood Palace’s Myriad Flower Blood Scripture, two supreme cultivation methods that should have been mortal enemies, displayed an almost perfect synergy in this moment.

The frost sword domain slowed and weakened, while the myriad flower demonic domain crushed and annihilated.

“Ahhh—!!!”

Trapped in the heart of the two domains, Fen Yu let out a bloodcurdling shriek.

Her protective demonic flames were weakened layer by layer by the sword qi, and her body was continuously shredded by the endless blood-red petals. Deep, bone-revealing wounds constantly appeared on her charred body.

It was effective!

Shen Zhaoqing’s eyes lit up. She held the warm Yuange in her arms, nervously observing the battle.

Although she couldn’t offer direct help, her divine consciousness, subtly transformed by the Dao Source Body, possessed an extraordinary sensitivity to the flow of life force and energy.

In her eyes, Fen Yu was a conglomerate of rampant energy. Where the core lay, where the weak points were, where energy was gathering, or where old power had waned and new power had yet to arise—all of this was clearer to her than ever before.

“Three inches below her left wing! Her demonic energy flow there is obstructed—it’s an old injury!”

Shen Zhaoqing blurted it out almost instinctively.

Gu Chang’an, who was fully focused on maintaining the sword domain, heard her. Her eyes flashed, and without hesitation, she willed it.

*Clang!*

A most inconspicuous snowflake sword qi suddenly accelerated, piercing precisely at that spot below Fen Yu’s left wing from an extremely tricky angle.

*Pfft!*

With a soft sound, the sword qi effortlessly breached Fen Yu’s defense, leaving a bone-deep wound on her body!

“Roar!”

Fen Yu roared in pain and fury, her assault thrown into disarray.

Ling Shuangjue immediately seized the opportunity. The sea of blood-red roses violently contracted, instantly tearing off large chunks of flesh from Fen Yu’s body.

It really worked.

Shen Zhaoqing was overjoyed, feeling as if she had discovered a new purpose in life.

“Senior Sister, be careful! She’s about to condense demonic fire!”

Upon hearing this, Gu Chang’an instinctively shifted her body. A scorching pillar of azure fire shot past, almost grazing her nose, melting a massive crater in the distant snow.

Gu Chang’an’s back was instantly drenched in cold sweat. She glanced at Shen Zhaoqing, her expression complex.

“Ling Shuangjue! Her right knee is a demonic energy node—hit there!”

Ling Shuangjue’s blood-red eyes narrowed. The myriad blood-red petals in the sky suddenly converged into a blood-colored longsword, which, with the force of a thunderclap, ruthlessly struck Fen Yu’s right knee.

*Clang!*

Fen Yu struggled to block with her broken spear, but the immense force sent her reeling backward, her right leg visibly weakening, almost causing her to collapse to her knees.

The dynamics of the battlefield grew incredibly bizarre. An Qi Induction Realm ‘idler,’ holding an unconscious demon princess, shouted commands and moved frantically at the edge of the battle.

Those she commanded were none other than the foremost Sword Immortal of the Immortal Dao and the Supreme of the Demonic Dao.

Both were immensely proud individuals. Normally, anyone daring to bark orders at them would have been cleaved in two by a sword. Yet, these two peak powerhouses were now genuinely following Shen Zhaoqing’s rhythm, coordinating their attacks.

Gu Chang’an took charge of control, continuously applying slowing effects to Fen Yu with her frost sword domain.

Ling Shuangjue spearheaded the offense, unleashing devastating demonic flames, her every strike aimed at the vital points Shen Zhaoqing called out.

With a glance, a movement, their cooperation grew increasingly seamless.

‘I’m… truly a genius,’ Shen Zhaoqing thought, giving herself an internal thumbs-up. ‘Once this is over, I’ll set up a stall outside the Heavenly Derivation Pavilion: professional battlefield commander, fortune-telling and divination, money back if not accurate.’

Watching Fen Yu steadily retreat, her aura weakening under the combined assault of the two powerhouses and Shen Zhaoqing’s ‘god-tier commanding,’ no one noticed a pair of malevolent eyes watching the leaping figure in the center of the battle from behind a pile of rubble stirred up by the battle’s aftermath.

Yuanchao had not died in the self-detonation; he had merely lost an arm, his appearance utterly wretched. He watched his sister being held in the human woman’s arms, and an extreme jealousy and madness instantly consumed his reason.

Why did that b*tch Yuange get all the good things?! If he couldn’t have it… then no one else would either.

He stared intently at Shen Zhaoqing. If he could just capture her… if he could just seize her as a hostage, he would have a chance to turn the tables.

The opportunity had arrived!

“Come!”

Yuanchao roared, pouring all his remaining demonic energy into his sole remaining left arm. He erupted from the rubble like a black cannonball.

“Junior Sister, watch out!”

Gu Chang’an reacted first, shouting sharply, instinctively preparing to recall her sword for rescue.

Shen Zhaoqing felt a foul wind rush towards her, and every hair on her body stood on end.

*Damn it! Again?!*

*Can you guys stop always targeting me, the support? That’s not honorable!*

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

The earth trembled violently, without warning. A torrent of iron and bloodlust, like a bursting dam, swept in from the other side of the battlefield.

“What is that?!”

Yuanchao’s face changed drastically, and his attack on Shen Zhaoqing involuntarily slowed by half a beat.

In the distance, at the edge of the snowfield, a black torrent appeared. It was… an army!

A heavy cavalry unit, entirely clad in profound iron armor, wielding long, horse-slaying sabers, and riding ferocious giant wolves.

Their numbers were not vast, perhaps only a thousand, but their charge was unified, their towering martial spirit and killing intent subtly coalescing into a towering phantom of an Azure Wolf, reaching to the heavens.

The Azure Wolf Iron Cavalry. They were the ace of the Yan State in the northern territories.

At the very front of this army, a tall, imposing figure, draped in an Azure Wolf battle cloak, led the charge. She wielded a massive battle saber, like a door panel, her silver-white hair wildly dancing in the wind. Her phoenix eyes, even from a great distance, locked onto Yuanchao like a drawn sword.

“How dare you run rampant within my nation’s borders!” A clear, metallic shout echoed across the battlefield.

“Those who violate my Yan State shall be slain, no matter how powerful!”
