Chapter 112: The Confluence of Calamity

On Wanghai Cliff, True Monarch Xuanming was resting with his eyes closed, enjoying the ocean breeze.

Suddenly!

Boom—!!!!

A deafening, utterly alien roar, as if emanating from the deepest reaches of the East Sea, caused the entire Penglai Immortal Palace—this colossal island suspended above the sea of clouds—to violently shudder.

True Monarch Xuanming’s eyes snapped open, filled with astonishment.

“What’s happening?!” he roared. “No! It’s the array!”

He abruptly looked up, his gaze fixed on the multicolored mist enshrouding the Immortal Palace. “The Myriad Misty Waves Array.”

The array’s shimmering barrier, once ethereal and radiant with auspicious light, now twisted and rippled violently, as if clutched by an unseen giant hand. Multicolored light flashed erratically, dimming and brightening, emitting a strained, buzzing lament.

Simultaneously, an incredibly pure and terrifying will, even through the grand array, violently assailed the divine souls of every Penglai disciple.

“What is that?!”

It wasn’t spiritual energy, nor was it a spell. It was a concept—the very essence of “destruction,” manifested.

“Enemy attack!!!”

Piercing alarm bells echoed throughout the entire Penglai Immortal Palace.

Countless streaks of light shot up from various parts of the Immortal Palace, their gazes filled with alarm and uncertainty, fixed on the direction of the mountain gate.

True Monarch Xuanming’s face turned ashen in that instant.

Shame!

This was an utter humiliation! An enemy had reached their doorstep, yet he, the Elder of Enforcement, hadn’t even glimpsed their shadow.

“What petty scoundrel dares to challenge the heavenly might of my Penglai?”

True Monarch Xuanming bellowed, his figure blurring as he instantly appeared at the edge of the Myriad Misty Waves Array’s barrier. The divine light in his eyes surged, piercing through layers of mist towards the source of that terrifying pressure.

With just a single glance, his pupils contracted to pinpricks.

Far off on the distant horizon, a scorched, dark mountain island, which had appeared at some unknown time, was erupting furiously. Apocalyptic crimson lava dyed the sky blood red.

Between that boiling black ocean and the volcano, a black army stood silently.

Thirty-six thousand heavily armored demonic guards converged, forming a silent jungle of steel.

Above them, a snow-white figure hovered between heaven and earth. Her frost-white hair, blood-red eyes, and the pitch-black demonic weapon that made the entire cultivation world tremble, marked her.

Ling Shuangjue!

“Myriad Flower Blood Palace…” True Monarch Xuanming squeezed the words through clenched teeth, his horror immeasurable.

How had they arrived?!

Cross-domain teleportation?! Impossible! Such a massive teleportation could only be achieved by the Heavenly Derivation Pavilion’s Star Track Array, and even then, at an immense cost.

“Penglai bumpkins, come out and die.”

Moshu’s cold, contemptuous voice resounded directly in True Monarch Xuanming’s mind. He didn’t even bother to converse with True Monarch Xuanming, merely relaying his Venerable’s will.

True Monarch Xuanming had never suffered such humiliation. He trembled with rage, his knotted muscles straining against his enforcement robes.

“A mere remnant of the demonic path, daring to clamor here!” He channeled all his spiritual energy, his voice thundering, attempting to push back the opponent’s demonic might. “Today, this venerable one shall ensure you never return, using your demonic souls to sacrifice to my Penglai’s mountain-guarding divine beast.”

However, his only response was a sneer of utter mockery from Ling Shuangjue’s lips.

She slowly raised the Abyssal Slaughter Sword in her hand, its black tip pointing distantly towards Penglai.

An even more terrifying and concentrated world-ending sword intent, far surpassing the previous one, began to gather at the sword’s tip. Even if the Myriad Misty Waves Array didn’t shatter, it would undoubtedly suffer severe damage.

This madwoman! She truly intended to flatten Penglai single-handedly.

Just as the tension mounted and a great battle was on the verge of erupting—

Clang!!!

A clear, melodious sword cry, utterly without warning, rang out from another direction.

This sword cry was neither loud nor high, yet it carried an absolute “coldness” and “sharpness” that seemed to freeze all emotions.

An invisible sword intent, imperceptible to the naked eye and only discernible by divine soul, tore through the sky—dyed blood-red by demonic energy—like an aurora descending from the nine heavens. It precisely struck Ling Shuangjue’s nascent sword intent, just as she was about to unleash it.

Boom!!!!

Two vastly different, yet equally domineering wills, collided fiercely above the Penglai Immortal Palace.

The sky, it seemed, was violently torn open!

Ling Shuangjue’s eyes, burning with fury, slowly turned for the first time, looking towards the direction from which the sword intent originated.

True Monarch Xuanming also looked over, filled with shock and uncertainty.

There, on the eastern horizon, a small skiff rode the wind and waves.

Qingyun Sect, Gu Chang’an.

“Tsk, the Qingyun Sect arrived so late.” Ling Shuangjue’s lips curved into an even colder smile.

However, before she could raise her sword intent again, a third, entirely different aura descended with a rumble from the southern clouds.

“Caw—!!!”

A piercing cry, sharp enough to cleave metal and stone, echoed through the heavens. The southern sky instantly transformed into a dazzling golden-red.

A gigantic Golden Crow divine bird, with a wingspan exceeding a hundred zhang, bathed in raging solar true fire, tore through the clouds and appeared before everyone.

Upon the Golden Crow’s back, a young woman in a golden feathered robe stood gracefully. Her amber eyes burned with undisguised fury and possessiveness, fixed intently on the Penglai Immortal Palace.

“Good…” Yuange, gazing at the scene before her, laughed instead of growing angry, revealing two sharp little fangs. “My prey now dares to steal from a bunch of pill-refining cauldrons?!”

“Hand her over!!!”

Three voices, three languages, yet at the same moment, they all uttered the same sentence!

Demonic energy, sword intent, and demonic power wildly intertwined, collided, and tore at each other above Penglai, churning that sky into a chaotic, multicolored porridge.

The Myriad Misty Waves Array, caught between these three forces, let out a mournful cry, on the verge of shattering.

On Wanghai Cliff, True Monarch Xuanming was utterly dumbfounded.

He stared blankly at the scene before him, a sight capable of destroying heaven and earth, his mind a complete blank.

‘Who am I? Where am I? What happened?’

‘Why have the Demonic Venerable of the Myriad Flower Blood Palace, the Chief Sword Immortal of the Qingyun Sect, and the Imperial Princess of the Myriad Demon Kingdom all arrived at my Penglai’s gates at the same time, as if by prior arrangement?’

‘And by the looks of it, they all seem to be… looking for the same person?’

True Monarch Xuanming suddenly felt that Penglai might be doomed today.

****

The sensation of passing through the Myriad Misty Waves Array was peculiar. It was like plunging into warm molten glass, enveloped by dazzling light and shadow, with all sounds and perceptions infinitely stretched and distorted.

When vision finally cleared, the sight before them was enough to leave any newcomer utterly entranced.

The sky was a clear, azure blue, without a single cloud.

Beneath their feet lay countless immortal mountains floating above a sea of clouds, connected by rainbow bridges. Immortal cranes flew in flocks, leaving behind clear, melodious cries.

The air was permeated with spiritual energy so dense it almost solidified. A single deep breath felt as though it loosened cultivation bottlenecks by a third, not to mention the ubiquitous, refreshing, faint medicinal fragrance, as if even breathing itself was nurturing life.

The immortal skiff docked on a massive white jade plaza.

This, of course, assumed one entered by peaceful means.
