Chapter 130 : Side Story 8 The Art of Commercial Practice

“Am I wrong?”

“No, you have a point. Let’s go together. But on one condition.”

“What? Don’t display my ‘bad personality’?”

“Yeah, look at you knowing yourself so well.”

“Why would I display a bad personality to a client? We’ll just go and listen. I won’t nitpick over minor details.”

Lee Chae blinked. Just moments ago, his face screamed absolute disbelief, but he seemed to be gradually coming around.

“I’ve changed a lot. I don’t act like that in public anymore.”

“True. Your public image is actually quite good, Hyung. I guess I was worrying over nothing. Sorry.”

“It’s only natural for you to worry, considering how I’ve behaved in the past.”

Hae-jin let out those words without meaning a single bit of them, shamelessly steering their path toward the advertising agency. As the country’s top-ranked firm, its scale was immense, forcing them to cross paths with dozens of employees on their way to the conference room.

However, it felt like every single person was staring exclusively at Jung Lee Chae, souring Hae-jin’s mood before the meeting could even officially begin.

If I knew it would be like this, I should have dressed him in less flattering clothes or rubbed coal dust over his face…

Then again, doing that wouldn’t make a beautiful person look any less beautiful. It was a futile thought.

Upon entering the conference room, Jang Min-jae, the CEO of the agency, stood up to greet them. Hae-jin gave him a lukewarm, analytical look from head to toe. Even upon a second glance, the man was a distinctively polished, handsome guy.

Honestly, as the head of an advertising firm, he should have a bit of a belly or a receding hairline, yet he looked unnecessarily like a model himself. To make matters worse, he was wearing a neat suit—the exact style Lee Chae favored. Hae-jin’s mood plummeted instantly.

“Welcome, Director Jung! I’ve been eagerly waiting for you. And… Representative Cha has joined as well. This is truly an honor.”

Just hearing an opening greeting that so heavily favored Lee Chae was enough to expose how black that bastard’s hidden intentions truly were.

Jang Min-jae extended a hand toward Lee Chae. Recognizing the move, Hae-jin quickly intercepted it, gripping Min-jae’s hand with significant force. In his heart, he wanted to crush the man’s fingerbones to splinters, but he restrained himself because he was in front of Jung Lee Chae.

“The honor is mine.”

Polite words that entirely contradicted his actions slipped from his mouth. Jang Min-jae withdrew his hand with an awkward laugh. He then acted as if nothing had happened, introducing the other staff members present.

Was it a Director Kim and a Team Leader Park? They rambled on quite a bit, but because Hae-jin was hyper-focused on monitoring Jang Min-jae’s constant glances at Lee Chae, he couldn’t register a single word of the conversation.

Taking their seats directly opposite the agency team, a man prepared to present today’s proposal projected a screen onto the front wall. A brief storyboard appeared alongside photos of the new vehicle model manufactured by the Legion. The presenter seemed to possess an excellent voice, weaving humor into a solid delivery, but none of it registered with Hae-jin. His gaze remained locked entirely on Jang Min-jae.

Look at that. He’s not even looking at the front screen; he’s only looking at Jung Lee Chae. And people say I’m delusional? I’d bet my own manhood that this bastard is getting hard right now. f*ck.

As he spat curses internally, the presenter suddenly called out to him.

“Um, Representative Cha.”

“Yes.”

“Did I happen to make a mistake…?”

“You must have misunderstood. I was listening very intently. Because my natural expression is rather cold, I frequently get asked if I’m angry when I remain quiet. My apologies if I made you uncomfortable.”

Since the presenter hadn’t looked at Lee Chae once, Hae-jin could afford to treat him with generosity. There was no need to stir up unnecessary trouble. His polite apology caused the presenter to counter with an apology of his own, stating he was sorry for misunderstanding.

Hae-jin flashed a thoroughly genial smile, but the moment the presentation resumed, his gaze pivoted right back toward Jang Min-jae. Suddenly feeling a stinging stare from his side, he tilted his head slightly, only to find Lee Chae glaring daggers at him.

Gasp.

He didn’t let the sharp intake of breath escape out loud, but he was genuinely startled. Seizing the moment beneath the table, Lee Chae delivered a vicious pinch to Hae-jin’s thigh. Because they were surrounded by people, Hae-jin couldn’t even make a display of the pain, forcing himself to look unbothered. However, having been caught red-handed staring down Jang Min-jae, he was secretly worried about the lecture awaiting him.

“…And that concludes the presentation.”

Before he knew it, the pitch was over. Jang Min-jae peeked at Hae-jin with an anxious look, while Hae-jin peeked at Lee Chae. In the midst of the silence, Lee Chae was the first to speak.

“On our end, we fully trust Representative Jang’s creative capabilities. You’ve produced many famous campaigns and consistently deliver strong revenue. However…”

“Is there a particular element of the storyboard that didn’t sit well with you?”

“I’m not sure if this was an intentional direction… but it feels like the commercial relies far too heavily on s*x appeal.”

Hae-jin’s eyes widened at Lee Chae’s assessment. Because he had spent the entire presentation monitoring whether the CEO was drooling over his partner, he hadn’t processed the actual content, leaving him entirely unaware that the commercial carried such themes.

s*x appeal? Thank goodness I insisted on co-starring. If I had let Lee Chae come alone, it would have been a disaster.

Representative Jang flashed a smooth smile toward Lee Chae. Why was he smiling like that when he just needed to answer the question? Seriously, there wasn’t a single thing about this guy that Hae-jin liked. And yet…

If Lee Chae and I are going to be displaying s*x appeal together in a commercial, I suppose I can let it slide this once.

With that thought, Hae-jin focused entirely on the CEO’s explanation.

“As an ardent fan of Guide Jung Lee Chae, it pains my heart slightly, but…”

At that statement, Hae-jin’s eyes flared with an aggressive intensity. Feeling the sharp gaze, Jang Min-jae looked over at Hae-jin but continued unfazed.

“The public’s immense fascination with you two will serve as an incredible marketing asset.”

“But a s*x appeal that is too overt might compromise our product’s luxury image…”

What on earth is this hamster talking about?

Hae-jin couldn’t comprehend why Lee Chae was resisting the sensual concept. The vehicles constructed from dungeon materials carried an astronomical price tag, automatically positioning them in the premium tier. Furthermore, the performance metrics were unmatched. Equipped with defensive capabilities to withstand enemy attacks and functions to suppress an Esper’s rampaging energy to keep civilians safe, the primary target demographic was naturally Espers. Specifically, Espers who were absolutely starved for guiding and s*x.

Therefore, the reason Hae-jin favored the commercial concept wasn’t just because he wanted to broadcast sensual scenes with Lee Chae nationwide, but also because the agency had captured the selling point perfectly.

“It’s brilliant. As the client, I find the content highly satisfactory. Now I see why L Planning holds the number one spot in the nation.”

At Hae-jin’s declaration, Lee Chae’s face crumpled completely, while Representative Jang let out a delighted laugh.

“Representative Cha truly knows how to read a campaign. To recognize its value just from a storyboard—I was secretly worried, but this is a relief. Prior to launching the commercial, our agency plans to generate massive buzz by pre-releasing the news of your joint appearance.”

No matter what Jang Min-jae babbled about, it all sounded like music to Hae-jin’s ears.

“Yes, yes, you absolutely should. Pre-promoting the ad—what a magnificent strategy.”

While you’re at it, don’t just stop at basic s*x appeal; car s*x sounds even better…

Fortunately, keeping Lee Chae’s oversight in mind, he left that particular thought safely locked away in his mind. Jang Min-jae extended a hand for a closing handshake.

“Then we will proceed with this direction.”

Hae-jin shook his hand, applying slightly less crushing force than before. Suddenly, Lee Chae cut in.

“Is there anything specific we should prepare ahead of the shooting date? If there are specific poses we need to practice, please let us know in advance.”

Look at this model student…

The theme was s*x appeal, yet he wanted to practice… Wait. Practice?

The moment a brilliant realization struck him, Hae-jin’s lips began to curl into a wicked grin, only for Jang Min-jae to instantly kill the vibe.

“Given that both of your physiques are already exceptional, and most of the heavy lifting will be achieved through camera movements and editing techniques, you don’t need to worry.”

“Still, wouldn’t it be better to aim for perfection? We don’t have any prior modeling experience.”

At Lee Chae’s words, Hae-jin eagerly chimed in.

“Director Jung is absolutely correct. Once the detailed script is finalized, please email it to us immediately.”

Faced with Hae-jin’s sudden, drastic shift in attitude, Jang Min-jae stroked his chin with a thoroughly bewildered expression, offering a polite thank you for their enthusiasm. It was only natural to be surprised, as clients were rarely this cooperative regarding such instructions.

Hae-jin silently resolved that, for the future of the Legion and the success of the new vehicle launch, he would practice the sensual concepts with Jung Lee Chae more diligently than anyone else on earth.

On the drive back from the meeting, Lee Chae cast a highly suspicious look at Hae-jin, who had been humming an unidentifiable tune while focusing on the road.

During the actual presentation, the man’s face had been covered in clear discontent, yet the sudden spike in his mood could only mean he was plotting something. Still, Lee Chae was relieved that despite forcing his way along to monitor Representative Jang and himself, Hae-jin hadn’t caused any real scenes before the meeting concluded.

“Hyung, you didn’t manage your facial expressions very well today, but thank you for helping us finish up smoothly. Even though we had that fight… I appreciate that you yielded to me.”

Hae-jin let out a highly satisfied laugh as he navigated a turn. Blue veins stood out prominently against the back of his hand gripping the steering wheel. The formal suit tailored for the meeting and the blue cufflinks—which Hae-jin had personally crafted from dungeon materials and gifted to him—gleamed under the light.

Perhaps, with every passing day, he gets more…

As they cleared the congested roads and hit a red light, Hae-jin turned his head.

“I should be the one thanking you. Just in case you misunderstand, our eyes meeting earlier was pure coincidence.”

“Right, right, of course it was. You’re definitely not the type of person to glare down a client’s CEO. Right?”

“Exactly.”

Liar… There’s definitely an underlying plot here. What is it?

Hinged on uncovering Hae-jin’s hidden thoughts, Lee Chae placed a hand on his thigh. However, before he could even attempt to read his emotions, Hae-jin snatched his hand.

“If you want to shoot an adult film right in the middle of the road, feel free to keep going.”

Startled, Lee Chae quickly yanked his hand back and checked Hae-jin’s lap. The front of his trousers was already prominently tented. If his hand had strayed even an inch higher, he would have made direct contact.

Ultimately, Lee Chae decided to abandon his quest to uncover Hae-jin’s scheme. Whatever he was plotting, the commercial was locked in to proceed as scheduled, so he figured nothing too disastrous could happen.

As the car drew closer to the Legion headquarters, Hae-jin’s humming didn’t stop for a single second.
