There was no way a small local festival event like this would have a rehearsal.
They prepared to go on stage almost immediately after arriving.
Jemin decided to mind-set it as a VIP private event for the few fans who had traveled so far to see them.
“One, two, three! Hello! Everlasting 4ever! We are 4ever!”
The response was absolute zero.
Jemin was flustered.
‘Weren’t we a group that was starting to get some traction, though?’
The few fans who actually came to see them were busier taking photos and videos than cheering.
Some likely kept their mouths firmly shut, fearing their own voices might be recorded.
“It is an honor to come to such a place with great mountains, great water, and great air~”
To the people preoccupied with catching marsh snails, leader Yunbin’s commentary sounded like nothing more than background music.
“We hope that through this festival, you will remember not only the marsh snails but also our group, 4ever. We will now perform our title track, .”
“Ah, what the. They said they were doing follow-up promotions, so why is it again?”
The grumbling of a fansite camera holder was heard all too clearly.
Woohyung, who was checking his microphone, scowled as if he didn’t like the sound quality.
“You know we have to work hard even if it’s not a broadcast, right?”
Before starting the performance, Jemin whispered to Woohyung out of worry.
Woohyung glanced at Jemin and ignored him.
Jemin had a bad feeling about this.
“Yunbin! James! Jemin! Woohyung! Eunhan! Forever! 4ever!”
Even though it was just one person, there was a fan giving them fan chants.
The rest of the people were busy taking photos, making continuous shutter clicks instead of cheering.
Jemin was in a crouching position during the intro, and hearing the chant made him feel strangely touched for no reason.
‘Jung Woohyung is surprisingly putting in effort even when there’s no crowd.’
Looking back, Woohyung had never danced half-heartedly during their few music show appearances either.
Was he genuinely serious about the stage?
Jemin thought he would slack off at a scruffy event like this, but he was doing his absolute best on stage beyond expectation.
For the first time in a while, without cutting out the middle, they were able to perform the full 3-minute-and-40-second stage intact.
To a few dozen people.
And to far more marsh snails than people.
After finishing the stage, they had a brief fan-service moment before starting the next song.
Jemin nudged Woohyung to prompt him to throw heart signs to the fans, but Woohyung merely opened a water bottle.
Since Woohyung wasn’t even drinking the water, Jemin wondered if opening the bottle cap was a subtle gesture that he was going to slice his neck open, so Jemin moved over to stand next to Eunhan.
“Next up is….”
It was the single line assigned to Jemin, but no sound came out of the microphone.
Panicked, Jemin tapped the mic with his palm.
The festival staff members were flustered, scrambling to find a spare mic.
“Hyung, do you want to use mine?”
The only ones in the group who used hand mics were Woohyung and Jemin.
However, the person who spoke those words was not Woohyung.
Eunhan said it playfully while tapping his own ear mic.
Woohyung silently handed his mic over to Jemin, but Jemin looked at Eunhan.
This was an opportunity.
Since there were fans shooting fancams, wouldn’t this be talked about among HanJem shippers as a legendary clip?
Blinded by the desire for popularity, Jemin leaned right up close to Eunhan to say his line.
“The next song is our follow-up track, and this is the first time we’re revealing this stage~”
“Screeech!”
“Crazy!”
Jemin’s line was buried under the fans’ screams.
A performance staff member who hurried onto the stage late handed Jemin a mic.
Jemin passed off the broken mic and grabbed the new one.
“We will now perform . Please give a lot of love to 4ever~”
The title of the follow-up track was , a song written and composed by Woohyung.
Out of the many songs Woohyung had created, this was the single track he barely managed to get onto the album.
It was a song containing the dream that even if it were an ending that others considered the end, to him, it was just the next process to keep moving forward.
Jemin thought, ‘Did Jung Woohyung write these lyrics anticipating that the 1st album would flop?’
‘If he knew it was going to flop, he should have stopped the CEO a bit more actively.’
They waited for the intro to flow out.
Jemin kept his head down, then glanced subtly toward Woohyung.
Rather than having any specific motive, it was just checking while adjusting the formation without much thought.
‘Even Jung Woohyung gets nervous.’
Jemin thought so as he watched Woohyung clench his fists tightly and take a deep breath.
The stage began as Woohyung walked between the seated members.
“Hey, what’s up with Jung Woohyung?”
The choreography for the follow-up track had more movements than the title track, but Woohyung didn’t miss a single small detail.
He danced so powerfully yet expressed it so delicately that one might wonder if his bones or joints were going to snap.
Even while being on the same stage, Jemin’s eyes were stolen by Woohyung.
Even when it wasn’t Woohyung’s part, he possessed a power to command attention.
“I came to film Eunhan, but I recorded Jung Woohyung without even realizing it.”
Applauses erupted as the stage came to an end.
It wasn’t simply applause given because a song was over and the singers were stepping off stage.
Even the fans who had faithfully watched every single one of 4ever’s few music broadcasts felt that something was different.
This is a legendary stage that fans who join the fandom late will stamp their feet in regret over missing.
Everyone shared that exact same feeling simultaneously.
‘Why is he dancing so hard?’
It’s great, though.
It’s cool, though.
Why is he acting like that?
Both the fans and Jemin found it a complete mystery.
Of course, he wasn’t someone who slacked off usually, but this time felt different.
“This has been 4ever! Thank you!”
Jemin felt an overwhelming surge of emotion.
Although he didn’t want to admit it, the quality of the stage had risen thanks to Woohyung.
That served as a positive stimulation.
He also wanted to become an idol who could steal eyes on stage.
Occupied with those thoughts, Jemin consistently threw heart signs to the fans while stepping off the stage.
“Classic Jung Woohyung. Look at him being the first one to walk off the stage.”
“Did you see that bastard not doing any lines or throwing hearts? He just performs and leaves.”
“Hey, but looking at today’s stage, you really can’t bash Jung Woohyung for his skills.”
“That’s why it’s annoying. He’s a jerk, but I can’t trash him.”
Even while getting into the vehicle, Jemin listened closely to the fans’ reactions.
People really all think the same way.
“Do you… like them by any chance?”
As soon as he got into the car, Jemin grabbed Woohyung and asked.
Woohyung furrowed his brow and looked at Jemin.
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m asking if you like marsh snails by any chance.”
“What kind of bullshit is that?”
Unless he danced hard enough to shatter his bones because he loved marsh snails, why on earth?
It was a relief that there were fans who brought cameras at least; if it hadn’t been recorded, Jemin would have felt so frustrated on his behalf.
“You have to row when the tide comes in.”
“Did you happen to lose the oar called fan-service?”
“I do it if it makes sense to me. I just don’t want to fake it unnaturally like some people.”
“Why is it hard to understand? The fans give us money!”
Eunhan, sitting in the passenger seat, interjected.
It was a reason that, even if brushed off, Jung Woohyung’s beliefs could not tolerate.
“Eunhan, look straight ahead.”
Yunbin’s role was desperately mediating between Eunhan, who was thoughtlessly bright, and Woohyung, who was so deep in thought that he was dark.
If those two got serious and fought properly, the atmosphere would turn brutal.
“Please, can everyone just shut their mouth quiet and sleep in the car? Please!”
James shouted while wearing a frog-eyed sleep mask.
Even though they hadn’t been in the car for long, James had already finished preparing for a deep sleep.
“Right. Everyone must be tired. Good job, and let’s make sure to wash up and sleep at the dorm. Especially Eunhan.”
At leader Yunbin’s words, peace returned inside the car.
Woohyung plugged wireless earphones into his ears and leaned his head against the car window.
It was impossible to tell whether he was sleeping or just closing his eyes.
Jemin stole a glance at Woohyung’s expression and pulled out his phone.
Jemin’s search time had begun.
Jemin always made it a habit to check the fans’ reactions after finishing a schedule.
‘It seems like he definitely created a legendary moment today.’
He searched on social media, and within a few hours, so many posts were uploaded that the scroll bar had shrunk significantly.
An account that appeared to be an influencer had posted a link to Woohyung’s fancam.

Isn’t he that fan-hater guy from back then?
Experiencing a three-digit response for the first time, Jemin’s heart grew hot.
Even though it wasn’t his own fancam, but Woohyung’s.
He plugged in his earphones and watched Woohyung’s fancam, and even from Jemin’s perspective, it was a video capable of attracting fans.

They say it’s Eunhan and Jemin, HanJem
Let’s push this ship
Browsing through various sites, Jemin witnessed that even though it wasn’t a performance clip, the moment he shared the mic with Eunhan was triggering a fiery reaction.
‘As expected, they really love stuff like this.’
Eunhan wasn’t the type to intentionally toss out bait while conscious of the fans like himself.
Eunhan’s thoughtless words or actions were simply easy to pair up and enjoy from a third-party perspective.
‘Anyway, it looks like we’ll be able to release a 2nd album after all. Thank goodness.’
Jemin felt it was a pity that they couldn’t promote the follow-up track much, but he thought it was a relief that they managed to generate this kind of response by running so many event schedules.
If they continued to grow step-by-step like this, wouldn’t they eventually move to a new company building?
Even if the next album wasn’t a mega-hit, it felt like it could at least be a decent success.
Jemin closed his eyes and fell asleep while picturing a hopeful future.
Little did Jemin or the members know that while they slept, a response far greater than Jemin could ever imagine was coming.
