Chapter 2 Part 2: Admission Test

‘Let’s see. Which way should I go from here?’

I immediately turned on my phone and pulled up the map.

The academy was great and all, but it had to use a large site.

Thanks to that, I had to take a bus for about an hour from where I lived.

I knew that would be the case, so I set my alarm early, but it was still a bit annoying.

“Ah, there it is.”

Luckily, there was an intercity bus near my house that went to the academy.

I immediately started walking towards the intercity bus, but I noticed something strange.

I mean, there were other students wearing the academy uniform.

Well, I guess I can’t say it’s strange.

Those students must be going to the academy too.

I slowly looked around, walked to the bus stop, and leaned against a corner.

If I spoke first in this appearance, I thought they would be wary of me.

Honestly, I would be too.

If a thug-like person suddenly spoke to me, I would be a little flustered.

So, I decided not to say anything until they spoke first and focused my attention on my phone.

Just in time, I had a paper sent by Uncle Ceylon.

I couldn’t understand half of the content, but reading something was enjoyable.

So, for a while, I fixed my gaze on the paper that dealt with the characteristics that appear when a snake-type Beastman manifests.

How long had I waited like that?

The intercity bus had just arrived, and I was walking to get on.

“Ah, Oppa! What are we going to do if we’re late because of you!”

“Well… I told you it would be quick if we ran.”

“Then you run to the academy!”

Two students were running from afar.

They looked alike, so they must be siblings.

The younger sister had her black hair tied in a ponytail and, unusually, had heterochromia.

The older brother seemed to have heterochromia too, but the eye colors were reversed.

The younger sister had a blue left eye and a yellow right eye.

And the older brother had a yellow left eye and a blue right eye.

I looked at the two for a moment, then hurriedly got on the bus.

I couldn’t stand in the entrance for long.

After scanning my card, I sat in the front seat and waited for the two students.

I thought those two students would make me have fun.

Like my other uncles and aunts used to say.

They said observing something was quite fun.

So, I decided to observe the two students, just like I was observed when I was young.

Both of them ran so loudly, the bus driver was waiting for them.

Not long after, the two students came in, calling each other’s names.

“Seriously, Sia, you need to stop overreacting. We arrived before we were late.”

“Stop talking nonsense. If you keep this up, I’ll leave you behind, Siwoo.”

“Huh? You’re not calling me Oppa?”

“Do I have to act like an Oppa to be called Oppa?”

“…Students. Are you going to get on or not?”

“We’re sorry!”

“Ah, sorry!”

I smiled slightly, covering my face with my phone.

Honestly, no one could say anything if I laughed… but I thought it would be rude to laugh in front of them.

And I hoped the younger sister was a first-year student.

If both of us passed the academy entrance exam, I thought we could become close for a while.

Then, I managed my expression again.

The two students didn’t go to the back seats, but sat in the empty front seats.

I mean, they sat right next to me.

I slowly crossed my legs slightly and turned my head as if I had no interest in the seat next to me.

But all my nerves were focused on the seat next to me.

I was planning to talk to them later based on what I learned now.

Anyway, I liked that the characteristics of a snake-type Beastman were faint in times like this.

If it weren’t for that, I would have suffered from weak hearing.

The two students soon started talking.

The voices were rather small, but there was no problem eavesdropping.

I pretended to focus my attention on my phone again and concentrated on their conversation.

“Seriously, are you going to overreact?”

“Do you want to die?”

“What kind of way is that to talk to your Oppa?”

“I was born a few minutes earlier.”

“Two minutes.”

“Yeah, you forget everything else, but you remember things like that well.”

“…Do you really want to die?”

“What kind of way is that to talk to your younger sister?”

“You, let’s see during the entrance exam.”

“That’s what I want to say.”

I held back my laughter for a moment and organized the information I had obtained.

So, I thought those students were probably twins.

And both of them seemed to be taking the entrance exam today.

If that was the case, I might meet them while taking the exam today.

The academy’s exam changed every time, so I didn’t know what it would be like…

But it would be really nice if I could meet them.

There’s a superstition that a connection made on the first day of the entrance exam lasts until the end.

Unfortunately, the two students didn’t speak anymore.

After glaring at each other, both of them focused their attention on their phones.

So I stopped eavesdropping and focused my attention on the paper again.

Luckily, I could understand about 80% of this paper.

And at this point, I thought I could understand the remaining 20% by grasping the context.

So I tried to understand the paper all the way on the intercity bus.

In the end, I couldn’t understand it until I arrived at the academy.

But since I wasn’t bored while coming, the paper did its job.

I scanned my transportation card as I got off, and looked at the scenery of the academy for a moment.

The academy was much wider than any university, and the buildings were magnificent.

It was so huge that I could say I was overwhelmed by the sense of intimidation.

So, after getting off, I stared blankly at the academy for a while.

This was one of the few academies in Korea that fostered heroes and hunters.

The Busan International Academy, which I had heard about from my uncles and aunts.

“I don’t think I should push myself.”

I smiled wryly, thinking of the narcotic painkiller in my pocket.

To enter a place like this, the exam would obviously be very difficult.

I passed the written test, but there was no guarantee that I would pass the practical test.

So, I would have to fight even if I had to push myself a little, but honestly, I had no confidence that I wouldn’t go on a rampage.

I was sure I would manifest severely and roll around in pain.

As expected, Aunt Ailey was really competent.

From her time as a researcher until now.

She always surprised me, in a good way or a bad way.

“Hey, you new academy students!”

It was the moment I was spacing out like that.

A teacher in a gym suit approached us from afar, pointed to the arrows on the wall, and said.

“Do you see those arrows? Follow them to the auditorium! If you don’t, you won’t even be able to take the entrance exam!”

I slowly nodded and followed the arrows.

At the same time, I looked around to see what the other two students who had been sitting in the front seats were doing.

The two students… were fighting each other.

The older brother, Siwoo, said they should walk slowly.

On the other hand, the younger sister, Sia, said they should hurry up and get a seat.

Naturally, their opinions diverged, and they seemed to be fighting.

Luckily, there was someone to stop their fight this time.

I moved on after seeing the gym teacher scold the two students furiously.

Anyway, if you arrived at the academy by this time, it wouldn’t take long to get to the auditorium.

That’s what the teacher told me when I took the written test.

He said that before taking the written test, they always give instructions for the practical test.

That male teacher. He seemed very kind.

I hoped to meet that teacher later, too, and continued to walk.

While walking, I kept looking around.

There were a lot of students like me around.

There were also students with different colors of ties or ribbons.

They were probably second-year or third-year students at the academy.

I recalled the information I had heard from Aunt Camilla.

She said that after graduating from this academy, I could go to the workplace I wanted and train.

The one I thought would definitely appear when I was a test subject.

I was so excited to think that I could become a wonderful hunter or hero like that.

But I tried not to show it too much.

If I got too excited now, I might make a mistake.

It wasn’t too late to get excited after passing the exam.

I managed to arrive at the auditorium without getting lost.

And following the instructions of other seniors, I sat in a suitable chair and looked around the auditorium.

The auditorium was very large. It was several times larger than the auditorium of any high school.

It was said that close to several thousand students could all fit in, so it was natural that it was big…

Then, as if it was time, the lights in the auditorium went out.

And the lights illuminating the front of the auditorium turned on.

I could feel the students who were buzzing quietly.

I swallowed and looked forward.

I was very curious about which teacher would come out and start the speech.

“Hello, students! The proud students who passed the written test of Busan International Academy… I’m so glad! I’m so glad!”

I felt uneasy here.

The expression of the female teacher on the podium was the expression of my aunts looking at me.

So, I reflexively stood up from my chair, and the surroundings began to change.

“I’m glad there’s no one among you who knows illusion magic well!”

I hurriedly looked around.

This was… not the auditorium. It must have been the outside pretending to be the auditorium.

Otherwise, the building couldn’t have disappeared so suddenly.

The chairs rattled. The things that decorated the auditorium swirled and fell to the floor.

And soon they became one huge wall.

I looked at the maze that appeared in front of me and tried to smile wryly.

“Well, the entrance exam starts now!”

As the female teacher said, the entrance exam was just beginning.
