Chapter 2: The Dragon Takes Flight

In his previous life, there was one mystery Xi Yu could never quite solve.

Initially, no one should have known what he looked like as a human; as long as he was careful, his identity should have remained hidden forever.

Yet, he was eventually exposed.

Xi Yu was certain that the Drance Federation wasn’t the first to discover his identity; otherwise, they never would have allowed him to hide in the base for three days in the first place.

After his rebirth, this remained a massive hidden threat.

Taking advantage of this second chance, Xi Yu wanted to see if he could find an answer within the base, and to his surprise, he actually did.

This base was secretly imprisoning an Ogaso person.

That the Drance base would secretly hold an Ogaso captive didn’t surprise Xi Yu at all.

The integrity of this nation was likely thinner than a sheet of blank paper.

The crucial issue, however, was that this Ogaso person’s soul fluctuations were exactly the same as one of his greatest enemies from his previous life.

Though their physical appearances differed, he could never mistake those identical soul fluctuations.

If not for his rebirth, he never would have known that a puppet body belonging to that great enemy had been captured by the Drance Federation and was being held right here in this base.

Thinking back, while he hadn’t been discovered by the Drance Federation when he transformed into a human in his past life, he must have been spotted by this individual.

In the end, his existence had nowhere to hide.

‘To think that the one who triggered my tragic fate in my previous life was actually him—Ao Lan, one of the Ogaso survivors.’

Ao Lan was an Ogaso who had always presented himself to the people of Kun Star as an ordinary person with unremarkable abilities.

While the Ogaso people were credited with helping Kun Star survive the invasion of the Three Great Catastrophes, the reborn Xi Yu knew very well that their arrival on Kun Star was no accident.

Furthermore, they concealed a considerably mysterious and powerful force on Kun Star.

Even though Xi Yu had learned this secret in his previous life, it hadn’t meant much back then.

Regardless of what the Ogaso people intended to do, they had already brought overwhelming disaster to Kun Star.

Xi Yu knew it wasn’t easy for the Ogaso Empire to reach Kun Star, but perhaps Ao Lan still held powerful trump cards that even Xi Yu didn’t know about.

A total showdown might not necessarily be a good thing for Kun Star.

Moreover, the other nations of Kun Star might not even believe him.

But for himself, this discovery was of paramount importance.

In his previous life, he was in the light while they were in the dark, but in this life, the roles would be reversed.

In his past life, although the hidden forces of these Ogaso people didn’t take action often, every move they made brought immense upheaval to Kun Star and the Middle Continent.

Now that he possessed this information in advance, he naturally wouldn’t let them have their way in this life.

If an opportunity arose, he would certainly pay them back in full.

Two hours had passed.

The commotion caused by the white dragon could no longer be concealed, so Xi Yu hurried to continue his exploration of other areas.

Subsequently, he discovered even more captives.

There were not only lifeforms from the Three Great Catastrophes but also many humans imprisoned here.

They had all become test subjects for the base; some had already undergone various inhumane experiments, resulting in mutations that even he found horrifying.

Xi Yu was truly not surprised by the lack of a moral baseline in the Drance Federation.

Finally, his spirit jolted again—he had actually discovered the Drance Federation’s database within this base, which contained documentation on anti-gravity technology.

‘They actually have this?’

Upon seeing this data, Xi Yu finally could not restrain his emotions.

This technology, which surpassed the current era, was already mastered by the Drance Federation.

It was precisely because of this technology that the Drance Federation had built super battleships capable of levitation, allowing them to travel anywhere on Kun Star despite the ghosts and ferocious beasts everywhere.

In the future, when Kun Star would be utterly unable to withstand the increasingly powerful horrors, they could even abandon their native planetary home for interstellar migration.

Xi Yu didn’t care how the Drance Federation had obtained this technology.

He only knew what this information would mean for the Middle Continent; he had to take it with him.

Having a second life, he similarly lacked the confidence to prevent Kun Star from falling.

But with this technology, perhaps more sparks of hope could be preserved for the Middle Continent and Kun Star.

Thump, thump, thump.

The phenomena surrounding the white dragon grew exceptionally intense.

Its absorption of Mutation Particles directly triggered an energy storm within the base, which was gradually radiating toward other sections.

“Quickly, notify Lord Acrylic!”

The researchers in white coats, who had spent quite some time locating the source, arrived and were left dumbfounded.

The white dragon, which they had initially viewed as a mere corpse, now saw its scales shimmering with a bright luster.

Its once lifeless body was now radiating a renewed vitality.

It looked as if the white dragon was truly coming back to life!

This sudden turn of events instinctively filled them with terror.

The “King of Twin Cannons,” Acrylic!

Xi Yu could have escaped right then, but he held out, waiting for this super-expert of the Drance Federation to arrive.

As one of the strongest B-class individuals in the Drance Federation, he had caused Xi Yu no shortage of trouble in his previous life.

Now, it was his turn to give Acrylic a surprise.

****

“I’m here.”

Stationed in Jiao’an, the King of Twin Cannons was a world-class powerhouse who single-handedly occupied the attention of the Middle Continent’s leadership.

He rushed over immediately after discovering the abnormal concentration of Mutation Particles in the base.

Like the others, he had spent extra time searching because he hadn’t realized the source was the white dragon.

He was stunned when he saw the transformation of the dragon’s body.

Standing closer, Acrylic could more clearly sense a powerful force condensing within the white dragon.

[Sequence 5: Anomalous Class—nothing much to say, he is just an ordinary human.]

At that moment, everyone saw the white dragon open its eyes, its cold gaze fixed upon him.

Vroom—

A dragon’s roar shook the heavens and earth.

After the fall of Jiao’an, the Middle Continent was forced to establish a base there as well due to the presence of the Drance Federation.

The Middle Continent held the north, while the Drance Federation held the south.

Facing the continuous invasion of the Three Great Catastrophes, although the six major nations of Kun Star had all endured, the global situation was becoming increasingly grim.

More and more small nations had either perished or were on the brink of extinction.

Even so, the relationship between the Middle Continent and the Drance Federation had become increasingly hostile in recent years.

With their strength surpassing the Middle Continent and the advantage of floating battleships, the Drance Federation ignored the dire situation within their own borders and constantly provoked and crossed boundaries.

In response, the Middle Continent did not yield and struck back with strength.

Ding Ren had always considered himself a bit mad, but in comparison, he felt he was nothing compared to the entire Drance Federation.

The domestic environment in the Middle Continent was currently very poor, but he didn’t believe the Drance Federation was faring much better.

Despite this, the Drance Federation still wanted to suppress the Middle Continent.

The ghosts and beasts of Kun Star were growing stronger by the day; if the Middle Continent fell, what good would that do for the Drance Federation?

Even if they could flee to other parts of the universe in the future, who could guarantee that nothing would go wrong?

At this moment, Ding Ren’s gaze was calm as he looked at the Drance Federation base not far away.

However, in his heart, he truly wanted to challenge the “King of Twin Cannons,” Acrylic.

Facing one of the strongest humans, he—at a mere C-class—was naturally no match.

But if he could survive a fight with Acrylic, the gains would undoubtedly be immense.

Ultimately, he didn’t act on impulse; going there now would be pure suicide, and he didn’t want to die a worthless death.

However, the fact that he was carrying a nuclear warhead meant he felt no fear whatsoever.

Even on the few occasions when Acrylic had discovered his trail, the other man had restrained himself from attacking.

Below B-class, no one in the Jiao’an base was his match; they could only endure his provocations and investigations.

Ding Ren knew where to draw the line and did not cross Acrylic’s bottom line.

Currently, he was suspicious; three days ago, this base had suddenly made a major move.

Nearly the entire base had been mobilized, which naturally put the Middle Continent on high alert.

After observing for three days, Ding Ren had yet to find anything abnormal; he only knew that the Drance Federation had transported a massive object into the base.

That object had to be incredibly important; otherwise, the Drance Federation would never have made such a grand display.

Ding Ren was already debating whether to truly risk entering the base for an investigation—what if this object affected the fate of the Middle Continent?

Just then, an earth-shattering sound erupted from deep within the base.

****

At a high-end banquet in the capital of the Drance Federation, an Ogaso person was mingling with the federation’s elite.

Ao Lan suddenly paused, a sharp pain lancing through his head.

The puppet body he had imprisoned in the Drance base in Jiao’an had been destroyed.

However, he had already intended to discard that body.

Over the years, he had used that body to gradually leak more advanced Ogaso Empire technology to the Drance Federation, solely to destabilize the balance of power among the nations of Kun Star.

That was the value of the puppet body.

But the Drance Federation hadn’t finished squeezing out its value yet; they should have waited a while longer before destroying it.

Though slightly surprised, Ao Lan didn’t dwell on it; if it was destroyed, so be it.

In fact, this was a good thing; it saved him the trouble of pitting his wits against the Drance Federation.

He was just a bit curious—had the Drance Federation’s base in Jiao’an been hit by a nuclear strike?

Otherwise, his puppet wouldn’t have been lost before he could even react.

Had the Middle Continent and the Drance Federation gone to war so soon?

That was truly unexpected!

Ao Lan’s heart surged with excitement.

If the Middle Continent and Drance really started fighting, it would be a good thing for him regardless of which nation perished.

In the future, he might actually have the chance to take the world of Kun Star for himself.

Thinking of this, Ao Lan felt that even the severe trauma caused by the loss of his soul fragment didn’t seem so painful anymore.

Xi Yu actively and completely merged his spiritual power into the white dragon’s body.

At this moment, he finally became one with the dragon; in an instant, he felt as if he possessed power capable of destroying the heavens and earth.

This was not an illusion, but the experienced Xi Yu did not lose himself in this intoxicating sense of power.

In this instant, the white dragon’s body was fully revived.

It was truly alive.

The Mutation Particles between heaven and earth were instantly drawn as if by a fatal attraction, surging even more frantically into the dragon’s body.

Xi Yu couldn’t help but let out a dragon’s roar.

Suddenly, he lashed out with a claw toward Acrylic.

As one of the strongest B-class individuals in the world, Acrylic’s reactions were incredibly fast.

The sudden transformation shocked him and caught him off guard, but his response was not slow at all.

Facing the terrifying dragon claw, he instinctively retreated frantically while firing a cannon blast without hesitation.

BOOM!

CRASH!

With a gentle shake, the chains on Xi Yu’s body shattered into fragments, shooting in all directions.

Simultaneously, Acrylic’s cannon blast exploded against his claw, but Xi Yu felt only a slight sting.

However, his strike missed its mark, merely carving a massive rift into the ground.

But a fragment of the iron chain struck Acrylic’s shoulder directly; the immense force sent him flying, and a large chunk of flesh was torn from his left arm, rendering it useless.

Immediately after, the lingering force of the dragon’s claw swiped Acrylic again, making him cough up blood.

Still, Acrylic managed to evade the fatal blow.

Ignoring the surge of blood within him, he turned and fled, not daring to risk his life against the white dragon.

Though he hadn’t succeeded in killing Acrylic, Xi Yu was satisfied.

Heaving Acrylic into a state of heavy injury was already beyond his expectations.

He had only just merged with the dragon’s body, and the power he could control was limited.

A B-class expert was not so easily killed; B-class currently represented the peak combat power of every nation, and even among the ghosts, an A-class had yet to appear.

Acrylic was as cunning as a fox and had valued his life above all else in his previous life.

At the first sign of trouble, he would immediately flee.

It was only because he was completely caught off guard that Xi Yu was able to ambush him, but given his personality, Acrylic definitely wouldn’t dare to show his face again for at least several months after this hit.

And that was enough.

Xi Yu didn’t choose to pursue Acrylic; although he could do it now, the consequence would surely be losing control.

He had more important things to do; Acrylic wasn’t worth wasting one of his “lives.”

Controlling the white dragon, he crashed through the walls until he reached the room adjacent to where Ao Lan’s puppet was held.

Then, with a single swipe, he tore the entire room to shreds, not even sparing the puppet’s soul.

Only then did Xi Yu finally breathe a sigh of relief—the hidden threat was completely resolved.

The white dragon’s revival was destined to be impossible to hide, but the fact that he could turn into a human absolutely could not be discovered by the Ogaso people.

By eliminating him, Xi Yu wouldn’t have to worry about his identity being exposed to the Ogaso for at least a few days, allowing him to return to the Middle Continent in peace.

Xi Yu didn’t waste time; he immediately rushed to the records room and swallowed all the data concerning anti-gravity technology.

His stomach was like a small world, capable of holding a vast amount of things.

Then, the white dragon began to display its divine might.

Charging and rampaging, it tore through the Drance base with irresistible force, turning everything upside down.

Throughout it all, Acrylic remained hidden heaven knows where, never showing his head.

By now, the draconic instincts within the dragon’s body had reached a peak, and the Mutation Particles were surging into the body with increasing violence.

Xi Yu finally stopped lingering.

He easily broke through the base and soared into the sky.

However, as he was leaving the base, Xi Yu unexpectedly spotted seven Middle Continent Realm Guards nearby who were quite familiar to him from his previous life.

Xi Yu’s movements paused, and he immediately decided to change his plan.

He violently churned the Mutation Particles in the surrounding atmosphere.

Simultaneously, the sky and earth were filled with flying sand and stones, turning the world dark and obscuring all sight from the direction of the base.

At that moment, Xi Yu used his powerful willpower to force a transformation.

A flash of white light streaked through the air.

The white dragon vanished, and Xi Yu returned to his human form.

However, he could no longer control his body and plummeted from mid-air.

“Is that… a dragon?”

Zhang Qingyuan and his companions were dumbfounded.

They had personally witnessed a divine dragon, resembling the legends of the Middle Continent, fly out from the subterranean Drance Federation base in Jiao’an.

And then, they watched it turn into a human and fall from the sky.

Zhang Qingyuan was stunned, and his teammates were equally bewildered.

Who would have thought that not only were dragons real, but they could also fall from the sky?

“What do we do? Do we pick him up?”
