Divine Food Sacrifice? Kill Monsters?

Xi Yu was dumbfounded.

Although he had been filled with anticipation regarding his new Food Sacrifice ability, and had even wondered if a Divine Food Sacrifice could truly be born, when a Divine Food Sacrifice was right before his eyes, he found it hard to believe instead.

This was simply incomprehensible.

He actually possessed a Divine Food Sacrifice?

This was his first time encountering a Divine Food Sacrifice across two lifetimes, and it had actually manifested on his own person.

He recalled the anomaly in the white dragon’s inner world earlier—could it be because of that? Or was it related to the Blood-Jade Rabbit’s blood?

After pondering for a while, Xi Yu stopped dwelling on it; the key was that he truly possessed a Divine Food Sacrifice now.

He finally couldn’t restrain his excitement.

After a moment, Xi Yu calmed himself down to sense the specific capabilities of [Kill Monsters], and soon a series of realizations dawned in his mind.

At first glance, this ability didn’t seem particularly powerful, failing to match the title of [Divine Food Sacrifice], but the more he studied it, the more Xi Yu felt this ability was genuinely absurd.

Because the targets he could summon weren’t limited to ordinary ghosts; he could even summon Food Sequence Lords and divine wonders.

At this moment, as he activated the ability to kill monsters, every living entity he had encountered in the past appeared before his eyes.

Among them were the Lord of the Abyss and [No. 23 Hospital].

As long as he wished, Xi Yu could pull them over completely.

For a split second, Xi Yu genuinely felt an impulse to pull [No. 23 Hospital] over, but ultimately maintained his composure.

Even if his Food Sacrifice ability could reduce that divine wonder’s combat power by one-fifth, he didn’t feel he was a match for a divine wonder.

If the summoning failed, so be it, but if it succeeded, he felt he might be beaten to death by the divine wonder instead.

As for the Lord of the Abyss, thinking about it was enough; he might win, or he might lose.

However, in his spare time in the future, he could summon the Lord of the Abyss to test it out—after all, neither side would die, nor would there be any real losses.

On the contrary, if the Lord of the Abyss died in the virtual space, he might even acquire a piece of loot.

This made him very happy.

It was just that the timing wasn’t right now, as he lacked the time and had to wait for the next opportunity.

Next time, he would definitely prepare well, and then pull the Lord of the Abyss over to “exchange feelings.”

After studying it for a bit, Xi Yu relaxed.

Only now did he realize that more than a day had passed; this upgrade was the longest in duration, but also the most rewarding.

Leaping to A-class in one step, he felt more than a hundred times stronger than before.

At this moment, his body was filled with explosive power, as if a single punch could shatter a mountain.

This was merely an illusion, but his current strength was indeed far superior to before.

Even if Ding Ren stood before him right now, he felt he could suppress him in a fight.

Just thinking about it, he was quite expectant.

However, Xi Yu felt uncomfortable currently.

His physical strength had surged so massively that although he appeared fine on the surface, it was all due to the support of the white dragon’s power.

Even so, while feeling his body’s immense strength, he also felt exceptionally empty and weak.

At this moment, the power in his body felt as if it didn’t belong to him, impossible to control perfectly.

With even a slight movement, he felt his body swell uncomfortably.

This feeling made him very uncomfortable.

Xi Yu couldn’t help but want to transform into the white dragon again, feeling that being the white dragon might be much better than his current human state.

Letting out a long breath, Xi Yu was still very happy despite this.

Progressing so fast was naturally a good thing.

He was no longer worried about ascending to S-class.

He had only used a tiny portion of the Blood-Jade Rabbit’s blood, with a large glob remaining, enough for him to ascend to S-class, or perhaps even SS-class.

If someone else’s blood was this useful, what about the white dragon’s own?

Xi Yu was merely thinking about it; when he had time, he could test it out, but he wouldn’t experiment now, as both originated from the same source, and if it accidentally triggered a full transformation back into the white dragon at a critical moment, that would be disastrous.

Xi Yu sat on his bed, completely unwilling to move.

Digesting the power on his person would likely take some time, but he had work to do and couldn’t rest, needing to wait two more days.

Counting today, there were still two days until the promised date for bringing rain, and he had to prepare for this matter during these two days.

Initially, Xi Yu hadn’t wanted to clash with the Black Demon Lord and his allies, intending to see if he could find a large water source in the underground world.

Based on the distribution of water sources on Kun Star, underground water and surface water were roughly equal.

And the bowl world was extremely similar to Kun Star, so the underground water reserves were likely equally abundant.

However, upon discovering his new Food Sacrifice ability, Xi Yu immediately changed his mind.

Was there any way to obtain water easier than getting it from the ocean?

Furthermore, he might not even need to act personally this time.

He looked at the [Kill Monsters] ability.

This was his first time using a Divine Food Sacrifice, and Xi Yu found himself slightly nervous.

After a moment, Xi Yu calmed down and activated the ability.

[Summon.]

***

East Demon Island was one of the sacred lands of the Celestial Palace Realm.

It was the residence of the Black Demon Lord, one of the seven Lords of the Beyond in the Celestial Palace Realm.

The Black Demon Lord was a universally acknowledged demon sovereign, bloodthirsty and infamous.

Had it not been for the other Lords of the Beyond contending against him, all cultivators in the Celestial Palace Realm believed he would have devoured every living being in the world.

Even so, East Demon Island was lively daily, with thousands of demonic cultivators gathering here.

The Black Demon Cult’s headquarters sat on East Demon Island.

However, the Black Demon Lord didn’t reside at the headquarters, living instead where his main body had grown—a place called the Demon Forest, which was a forbidden area to the cultists.

Generally, unless delivering blood sacrifices, the cult members didn’t dare approach.

Especially since the Black Demon Lord had been in a very poor mood recently.

The cult members knew why his mood was poor, making them even more fearful of disturbing him.

More than half a month had passed, but whenever he recalled it, a surge of killing intent welled up in the Black Demon Lord’s heart.

An otherworldly white dragon had nearly wounded him.

What enraged and alarmed the Black Demon Lord was that he knew clearly he was no match for the white dragon.

This was simply unacceptable to him; a few local Lords of the Beyond were already stronger than him, and now another had arrived.

A powerful killing intent blazed in his eyes, alongside immense greed—if he could devour the white dragon, could he surpass the strongest Lord of the Beyond, the Sun Sovereign, and become the new supreme entity?

At that point, couldn’t he devour whomever he wished in the entire world?

Unfortunately, the Black Demon Lord knew this was merely his delusional fantasy.

If he could devour the white dragon, he would have likely wiped out the other Lords of the Beyond long ago.

Let alone the white dragon, he was currently helpless even against the weakest Lord of the Beyond.

Reaching the Beyond meant transcending the mundane, making it exceedingly difficult to deal with them.

However, it was precisely because of the white dragon that the Black Demon Lord made a new discovery.

Previously, he had perceived that the Kuitian Sword Master’s state was somewhat abnormal, and upon discovering this, he contacted the Extreme Ice Sacred King of the north to create a massive drought in the Kuitian Sword Sect’s territory, wanting to force the Sword Master out to inspect his state.

However, over the past year, the Kuitian Sword Master had never appeared, and they didn’t dare act rashly.

While it was highly likely that the Kuitian Sword Master had truly suffered an accident, he might also be turning their plot to his advantage, in which case their end would not be good.

Who knew if the Kuitian Sword Master truly cared about the lives of ordinary humans or was merely putting on a show of righteousness?

Then the otherworldly white dragon arrived and directly entered the Kuitian Sword Sect’s territory, yet the Kuitian Sword Master still hadn’t appeared.

This finally made the Black Demon Lord increasingly certain that the Kuitian Sword Master had indeed encountered a major issue.

Even if the Kuitian Sword Master were generous, he couldn’t possibly allow another Lord of the Beyond to move freely in his territory without reaction.

Every Lord of the Beyond possessed their own domain, and within this scope, another Lord’s arrival could never escape their notice.

This was why he had discovered the white dragon immediately upon his arrival.

Of course, he didn’t act on impulse, instead sending cannon fodder to the Kuitian Sword Sect’s territory for probing.

If they caused chaos and the Kuitian Sword Master still didn’t appear, it meant the probability of him having encountered a major issue was immense.

At that time!

A fierce and greedy look erupted in the Black Demon Lord’s eyes.

He would naturally ditch the Extreme Ice Sacred King and capture and devour the Kuitian Sword Master alone.

Once his strength increased massively, he could capture the white dragon that had made a fool of him, and then it would depend on his mood whether he killed and ate him or tortured him for a while.

“Hmph, white dragon, O white dragon.”

The Black Demon Lord sneered. “You likely have no idea that your appearance actually did me a massive favor. Once I achieve total success, I will surely thank you properly.”

Just then, the Black Demon Lord suddenly felt something was off.

The next moment, he felt the world before his eyes spin wildly, yet in the face of this situation, he was completely unable to struggle, and to his shock, he discovered his strength had been weakened significantly!

When everything came to a halt, he found himself in an unknown, unfamiliar environment.

This was a mountain peak with giant trees nearby—a place he had never visited before.

“Where is this?!”

Even with his status as a Lord of the Beyond, he couldn’t help but feel panic at this moment.

What he was experiencing was far too terrifying—who could silently transport him to this place and even weaken his strength?!

With such power, killing him would likely be as easy as turning a hand over.

An unprecedented sense of dread erupted in the Black Demon Lord’s heart.

He was afraid.

Just then, a white light appeared before his eyes, and he saw a familiar figure he could never have anticipated.

“White dragon?!” The Black Demon Lord’s eyes nearly split as he blurted out, “Was it you who brought me here?!”

***

Seeing that he had truly summoned the Black Demon Lord over, Xi Yu was deeply shaken.

The capability of [Kill Monsters] was truly powerful, worthy of being a Divine Food Sacrifice.

Then, he also discovered that this ability possessed limitations and was not truly invincible.

Summoning consumed energy, and pulling the Black Demon Lord over had instantly drained one-tenth of his body’s power.

He had originally felt his internal power was swelling uncomfortably, but now he felt genuinely depleted, and an intense hunger erupted in his body.

Of course, consuming so much power was due to the Black Demon Lord’s immense strength; summoning a weaker target wouldn’t consume as much.

The stronger the target, the greater the consumption.

He temporarily set aside his thoughts of summoning Food Sequence Lords, estimating that if he truly succeeded in summoning one, he would be drained into a dry corpse.

Fortunately, during the summoning, [Kill Monsters] would inform him roughly how much power was required, so it wouldn’t truly drain him dry upon a successful summon.

Furthermore, the duration of the summoning was limited, also judged according to the target’s strength.

However, as long as he possessed sufficient energy, he could extend the duration indefinitely.

Though there were many limitations, this ability was indisputably powerful.

Xi Yu didn’t plan on fighting the Black Demon Lord relying purely on his human form; although his strength was progressing rapidly, he was still far behind the Black Demon Lord.

As for the virtual space, he didn’t need to create it himself; selecting any random location allowed him to establish it.

It was just that everything inside was virtual, causing no harm to the physical world.

After studying the [Kill Monsters] ability for a bit, Xi Yu no longer hesitated, transforming into the White Dragon and lunging toward the Black Demon Lord.

Seeing the White Dragon, the Black Demon Lord was shocked and enraged, unable to fathom that the person who brought him to this mysterious place was actually the dragon.

He hadn’t even gone looking for trouble with the dragon, yet the dragon had come looking for him instead.

However, he had no time to think further, as the dragon surged over, forcing him to meet the attack with all his might.

BOOM!

A massive rumble echoed, and the Black Demon Lord’s body flew backward, his heart sinking simultaneously.

In this moment, he recognized with absolute clarity that the White Dragon’s power far exceeded his own; he simply couldn’t withstand it.

What left him even more hopeless was that this space was far too small, leaving him with nowhere to hide, forced to endure the dragon’s terrifying strength head-on.

His only hope now was to hold out for a bit longer.

Thud.

Soon, the Black Demon Lord was beaten by the White Dragon, sent flying continuously.

He had never been so helpless, beaten to one side by the dragon, and then sent flying to the other side the next moment, completely unable to resist.

He produced his weapons one by one, even pulling out the Black Demon Staff—a supreme artifact refined from a portion of his own main body—but it was useless. It couldn’t even break through the dragon’s defenses, completely incapable of affecting the dragon.

Transforming into his main body made things even worse; his massive physical body simply served as a punching bag.

No matter how he tried to flee, it was useless; he couldn’t escape this space, forced to face the dragon’s attacks.

“White dragon, stop! Know when to stop!” the Black Demon Lord roared. “Push me further, and don’t blame me for taking us both down! The desperate counter-attack of a Lord of the Beyond is something you definitely won’t enjoy!”

“Very well, it is indeed time to end this.” The White Dragon’s body expanded dramatically in an instant.

He had merely been probing previously, wanting to know what stage the current Black Demon Lord’s strength belonged to, so he hadn’t attacked with full power.

Now, he had seen clearly: the Black Demon Lord, possessing only one-fifth of his original strength, was still significantly stronger than an SS-class, and killing five or six SS-classes would be no trouble for him.

Such strength wasn’t weak, but compared to a true Calamity Lord, Xi Yu felt the Black Demon Lord was likely far behind.

Xi Yu compared the Black Demon Lord to the white dragon power he could currently feel; at full power, defeating a dozen weakened Black Demon Lords would pose no problem. Even against five or six full-power Black Demon Lords, he could likely fight them, assuming they didn’t entangle him in prolonged combat.

This also meant the White Dragon could truly walk unimpeded through the Celestial Palace Realm.

Having determined the gap in their strength, Xi Yu no longer intended to waste time.

Suddenly, the White Dragon’s colossal claw slammed down toward the Black Demon Lord.

“Ahhh, you forced my hand!” the Black Demon Lord bellowed.

Suddenly, a massive black light erupted from his body; without a word, he actually intended to self-detonate!

BOOM!

However, the White Dragon’s speed accelerated sharply, crushing him into a pulp with a single claw before he could self-detonate.

The next moment, a black streak flashed, and the remains of the Black Demon Lord vanished completely.

Then, two items were left behind in the space.

The White Dragon transformed back into human form and picked up the items.

One was a crystalline, deep blue orb, and the other was a black wooden staff.

Xi Yu touched the orb to sense it, and was immediately taken aback. “So EXP refers to essences! Indeed powerful.”

He had been curious about what EXP referred to in the [Kill Monsters] ability, and this was quite unexpected.

The deep blue essence was a Soul Essence, and as for its grade, [I Can See the Quality of Ingredients] couldn’t determine it, leading Xi Yu to suspect it was an SSS-class Soul Essence.

Its value was immense, though Xi Yu couldn’t use it for the time being.

This Soul Essence wasn’t large—only the size of a soybean—but its preciousness was beyond doubt. Xi Yu put it away carefully, knowing it would be useful in the future.

At worst, he could consume it directly like the Blood-Jade Rabbit’s blood, relying on the dragon power to digest it for him.

As for the other black wooden staff, it was filled with vast energy. When he transformed into the White Dragon to fight the Black Demon Lord, he had touched this staff and confirmed it was an SSS-class skeletal gear weapon.

He had wondered if he could drop this weapon as loot, controlling his force out of fear of destroying it, and he hadn’t expected it to actually drop.

Xi Yu was excited; while this weapon couldn’t unleash the combat power of a Calamity Lord in his hands, it could still boost his strength significantly, and a single strike from it would make an SS-class ghost weep.

“Again! Again!” Xi Yu’s blood boiled as he rubbed his hands together.

A single harvest was this massive—what about two or three times? Xi Yu felt he was addicted.

He quickly exited the virtual space, preparing to summon the Black Demon Lord again.

However, as soon as he exited, an intense sense of weakness flooded his body, causing Xi Yu to nearly stumble and fall. He simply sat on the ground, unable to help but laugh.

“I truly was greedy,” Xi Yu laughed, not minding it.

A single summon consumed so much power, so summoning an entity of the Black Demon Lord’s level without limits was indeed impossible.

However, it wasn’t a major issue; after resting for a while and eating some food to replenish his nutrients, his power would recover, and launching another summon would definitely be possible.

Straightaway, Xi Yu pulled out cooked food from his space and began to devour it; although the energy contained within these foods wasn’t much, it could help to some degree.

***

On East Demon Island, in the Demon Forest.

A streak of black light flashed, and the silhouette of the Black Demon Lord appeared once more.

Looking at the familiar scene before him, the Black Demon Lord’s eyes widened. “Am I not dead?!”

He quickly touched his face and patted his body.

He was alive and well.

Even as a sharp pain echoed in his mind, he didn’t care at all, feeling an immense wave of joy erupt in his heart. “Hahaha, I’m still alive!”

The Black Demon Lord laughed in delight.

“Did I transmigrate back?!” the Black Demon Lord thought in ecstatic joy. “What time is it now? Could I have transmigrated back to before the white dragon arrived in this world?”

“No, I must quickly go into hiding! I fear no one in the Celestial Palace Realm knows that a terrifying demon dragon is about to descend upon our world. This time, I must absolutely not provoke him, and it’s best to hide forever without showing my face. This demon dragon is far too terrifying!” the Black Demon Lord thought with lingering fear.

When he discovered the white dragon had arrived in the Celestial Palace Realm, he had tested his strength without a second thought, intending to devour him if he was weak, never imagining he would bring disaster upon himself. Who could have thought the white dragon possessed such incomprehensible abilities?

He never expected the white dragon to be so vindictive.

The Black Demon Lord didn’t dare delay for a second, not even gathering his belongings, and bolted out.

However, after a short while, the Black Demon Lord returned with a face full of shock.

He hadn’t transmigrated back!

Today was still the day he had been dragged into that mysterious space by the white dragon!

Only at this moment did the Black Demon Lord discover that his body’s cultivation had suffered a permanent loss, and at the same time, the Black Demon Staff he had spent countless years refining using a portion of his main body had vanished!

“Ahhh!”

The Black Demon Lord let out a furious roar, his voice causing a massive vibration across the entire East Demon Island, instantly throwing the island into chaos.

“White dragon! White dragon!” the Black Demon Lord gritted his teeth.

However, fear welled up in his heart.

He was no match for the white dragon to begin with, and now that the white dragon possessed such a terrifying method of pulling him to his side, his strength would be weakened every time.

Not only was he vindictive, but he was also this cautious!

This white dragon was far too terrifying.

The Black Demon Lord truly felt an indescribable regret now.

Why had he provoked the white dragon in the first place? But regret was too late now.

Why hadn’t the dragon truly killed him, though? The Black Demon Lord was utterly puzzled. ‘Could his ability have some limitation? Or is he intentionally playing with me?’

Regardless of the reason, the Black Demon Lord was truly afraid now.

“It’s best to hide first,” the Black Demon Lord thought with lingering fear. “Perhaps if I hide, the white dragon won’t be able to find me.”

“Lord Sovereign, are you alright?” At that moment, several figures called out with concern from outside the Demon Forest.

The Black Demon Lord’s heart stirred. ‘My location is extremely secluded; even other Lords of the Beyond wouldn’t find me so easily. How did the white dragon find me?’

His gaze turned outside the forest, filled with icy intent. ‘Could someone have betrayed me?’

Just then, he suddenly felt something was off, and a familiar sensation surged into his mind once more.

“Oh no, not again!” the Black Demon Lord was horrified.

Sure enough, the world spun, and the next moment, he appeared in the same mysterious space once more, and then he watched as the white dragon charged toward him again.

“Spare me!” The Black Demon Lord felt a chill run straight to his lungs, quickly pleading for mercy.

However, the white dragon ignored him, continuing to launch lethal attacks against him.

“You go too far!” The Black Demon Lord fought the white dragon with all his might in a rage.

BOOM!

In a few minutes, he was beaten to a pulp by the white dragon once again.

“Ahhh!” In the Demon Forest, the Black Demon Lord let out a shrill, miserable wail.

The previous time, he had been submerged in the joy of believing he had transmigrated back, so he hadn’t felt much pain in his mind. But now, he thoroughly experienced the bone-deep pain of losing a portion of his power.

Compared to the physical pain, the dread coming from the white dragon made him even more terrified.

He was certain now: regardless of whether the white dragon did it intentionally or had no choice, every time he was pulled over, he wouldn’t truly die. But his strength was genuinely being lost, and he had lost another treasure this time.

Losing treasures was one thing, but if his physical strength continued to decrease with every cycle, he would sooner or later fall from the rank of a Lord of the Beyond. At that point, let alone other Lords of the Beyond, even the fellows on East Demon Island wouldn’t spare him.

“It must be these fellows!” An unprecedented urge to kill rose in the Black Demon Lord’s heart.

He hadn’t been gone for long, and the people outside the Demon Forest were still there—his disciples and followers calling out to him with concern.

However, the Black Demon Lord had already seen through their true faces.

“These scoundrels!” The Black Demon Lord’s eyes turned red. “Saying one thing to my face and another behind my back—they actually dared to betray me! It must be them who betrayed me, otherwise how could the white dragon know my location so precisely?!”

“A bunch of ungrateful heartless things, die for me!” the Black Demon Lord roared.

BOOM!

Countless massive black shadows rose into the sky from beneath East Demon Island, and the next moment, the Black Demon Lord controlled his main body’s root system to wrap around every living being on the island.

He would rather kill ten thousand by mistake than let one slip; he didn’t care who had betrayed him to the white dragon, he had no intention of sparing any of them, even members of the Black Demon Cult.

Otherwise, when his strength dropped, these fellows would surely want to rebel.

Naturally, these people were also his blood sacrifices; he had raised them for so many years, and now was the time for them to repay him.

In this moment, an unprecedented nightmare descended upon East Demon Island.

They had once been the nightmare of all living beings in the East Demon Sea region, and countless beings could only watch helplessly as they were slaughtered. But now, they never imagined that judgment day would fall upon themselves, and the person acting was the very entity they worshipped as a deity.

They felt an indescribable regret, but the terror descended regardless.

The Black Demon Lord was exceptionally ruthless and decisive, acting without mercy.

Afterward, he didn’t dare delay for a second, wanting to quickly find a place to hide, believing the white dragon wouldn’t be able to find him then.

***

On the other side, Xi Yu, who knew nothing of the upheaval on East Demon Island, was currently catching his breath.

He had obtained another SSS-class Mutation Essence, along with a blue jade pendant.

[Soul Skeletal Gear: Barely counts as a Sequence 4 level; if you don’t want it, you can give it to me.]

An A-class Soul Skeletal Gear! This was a good item, and Xi Yu was highly satisfied. Although it couldn’t compare to the black wooden staff, it was perfectly suited for his use.

Xi Yu quickly put the soul jade pendant away.

He felt a bit of regret; although he wanted to continue summoning the Black Demon Lord, his body truly couldn’t handle it, as two summons had essentially drained him dry.

He could only endure it for now.

However, thinking about it, the Black Demon Lord surely wouldn’t dare to block him the day after tomorrow.

He would take a proper rest today and continue tomorrow.

A sharpened axe cuts wood faster.

***

The Black Demon Lord waited cautiously for half a day, and seeing that he indeed hadn’t been summoned by the white dragon again, he couldn’t help but laugh loudly toward the sky. “As I thought, there were traitors!”

“Hmph, white dragon, don’t think you can ever find me again from now on!”

The Black Demon Lord decided to hide for several good years before emerging. By the time the white dragon left this world, it wouldn’t be too late for him to show his face. His greatest capability was his long lifespan.

***

Wuyou Peak.

Jiang Shaomu had been imprisoned in a stone cave for a full day; he had thought about many things throughout the night and hadn’t slept at all.

The place he lived in now was decent, the environment wasn’t poor, and Dai Zhendao hadn’t intentionally made things difficult for him. However, the restrictive array leading outside had been activated, so he couldn’t leave for now.

However, the stone cave wasn’t large, and after staying for just one day, Jiang Shaomu found himself unable to bear it.

In the past, when he went into secluded cultivation, it would be for several months, and he hadn’t felt anything. But now, he simply couldn’t calm his mind, completely unwilling to sit in meditation.

Currently, Jiang Shaomu felt a bit bitter; since arriving at this place, not a single person had visited him. He knew in his heart that the Sect Master had likely forbidden them from coming, though he still believed his junior brothers and sisters wouldn’t distance themselves from him because of this.

However, how long would he have to stay here alone, and how long would he have to endure?

“I hope the Sword Master emerges from secluded cultivation soon,” Jiang Shaomu prayed in his heart, as long as he emerged, even if there were issues on his person, the Sword Master could surely help him resolve them, and then he could live as he used to.

Jiang Shaomu decided to try meditating again.

However, after several hours, he gave up once more, completely unable to calm his mind.

By now, darkness had fallen, and the sky was a fiery red, exceptionally beautiful. Jiang Shaomu looked outside through the window, unable to help but feel a sense of yearning. Previously, he had never felt the sky’s scenery was beautiful, but now he realized the scene was truly magnificent.

However, the darkness gradually deepened, and the scenery in the sky eventually vanished.

From his direction, he could only see a few stars flickering occasionally, and aside from that, it was pitch black.

Jiang Shaomu let out a sigh, deciding to attempt meditation once more.

Just then, he suddenly noticed a strange sound inside the room.

Jiang Shaomu was startled, quickly looking toward the source of the sound.

The sound was actually coming from beneath a prayer mat.

There weren’t many items in the stone cave—aside from a table and a few prayer mats, there was nothing else. Because of this, the commotion coming from the prayer mat truly gave Jiang Shaomu a massive fright.

He hadn’t detected any issues beneath the prayer mat yesterday.

He quickly walked over and pulled the prayer mat aside.

Then, a pitch-black passage appeared in his vision.

The passage went very deep, and a blast of cold air drifted out from within.

Jiang Shaomu couldn’t see the end of the passage at all, and looking around, he felt highly puzzled—where was the cover for this passage? It had vanished out of thin air.

After hesitating for a moment, he covered the passage with the prayer mat again and stepped away from it.

Jiang Shaomu watched the prayer mat from a distance, feeling a bit nervous.

Wuyou Peak had been designated a forbidden area by the Kuitian Sword Sect, but including him, many people didn’t know why it was designated as such.

Dai Zhendao surely knew, but why had he imprisoned him in this place?

Even a fool would know something was wrong.

At this moment, in another location on Wuyou Peak, Dai Zhendao and Hong Qianfan were present, and every move of Jiang Shaomu was in their eyes.

Seeing that Jiang Shaomu wasn’t curious about the situation inside the passage, both frowned slightly.

“Nephew Jiang is indeed exceptionally cautious,” Dai Zhendao said with a tone that was hard to tell if it was praise or regret.

“He is indeed good talent,” Hong Qianfan’s voice carried no discernable emotion.

“Let’s wait a bit longer,” Dai Zhendao sighed. “Had we not been worried about drawing the otherworldly dragon’s guard, we wouldn’t have needed to be so cautious. Now, being a bit more cautious is better. Sending Jiang Shaomu to the place where that Lord of the Beyond is imprisoned beneath Wuyou Peak is best done by having him walk in unknowingly on his own.”

Hong Qianfan nodded.

Dai Zhendao couldn’t help but ask, “Senior Brother Sect Master, do you think the otherworldly dragon will truly suffer a mutual destruction with that Lord of the Beyond?”

“Regardless of whether they suffer a mutual destruction, as long as one is injured, it is a good thing for us. It’s a pity the Sword Master didn’t slay this Lord of the Beyond back then, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to catch his breath and start trying to break free now,” Hong Qianfan sighed. “Nephew Jiang was destined for this calamity; even if the otherworldly dragon truly has no issues, we must use his power to help us suppress that Lord of the Beyond.”

Suddenly, the expressions of both changed as they discovered the array restricting Wuyou Peak was loosening.

“Hmph,” Hong Qianfan let out a cold snort. “I knew she would come. Some sacrifices are unavoidable for the greater good of the sect; why can’t she understand?”

“Sigh,” Dai Zhendao let out a sigh, looking at Hong Qianfan with cupped hands. “I hope Senior Brother shows mercy; Junior Sister is, after all, a deeply affectionate person, and it’s natural for her to be unable to bear it.”

Hong Qianfan turned and departed, offering no response.

“Master!”

When Jiang Shaomu noticed something was wrong, he saw Miao Luohua’s figure appearing outside Wuyou Peak. Then he quickly realized something was off: his master was actually breaking the Wuyou Peak array.

Suddenly, an immense light enveloped Miao Luohua.

“Master, be careful!” Jiang Shaomu shouted anxiously.

“Junior Sister, you are so unwise.” Hong Qianfan flicked his sleeve, and the sleeve turned into a sky full of starlight that swept toward Miao Luohua.

“I only know that you cannot touch my disciple!” Miao Luohua’s peerlessly beautiful face was filled with fierce killing intent in that moment. “Senior Brother, if you try to block me today, don’t blame me for being unpolite!”

A red light soared into the sky, blocking the sky-covering starlight, and Miao Luohua’s eyes were filled with resolve and coldness.

Hong Qianfan shook his head and smiled lightly. “Junior Sister, even if I allow you to act, what can you do? Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Flying Immortal, Beyond—the gap between every major realm is like heaven and earth. I am a Flying Immortal, and you are a Nascent Soul; how can you cross this vast divide?”

He raised his hand and pressed down.

The sky-covering starlight suddenly turned into a starlight palm, slamming down onto the red light, and the red light let out a wail, turning into a red flying sword that fell toward Miao Luohua. But Miao Luohua grabbed the red sword, suddenly turning into a streak of red light that pierced through the starlight palm and charged toward Hong Qianfan.

“Unity of Human and Sword?!” Hong Qianfan’s expression finally turned solemn.

BOOM!

A massive sound echoed from outside Wuyou Peak, but Jiang Shaomu could see nothing anymore.

Jiang Shaomu was frantic with anxiety, yet could do nothing.

Just then, Jiang Shaomu’s heart shook, and an unexpected figure suddenly appeared before his eyes.

“Uncle Hua?!” Jiang Shaomu said in surprise.

The visitor was actually Hua Yuanxian, the peak master of Yuchen Peak, one of the seven peaks of the Kuitian Sword Sect, though he had never had much of a relationship with this Uncle Hua.

“Follow me quickly!” Hua Yuanxian sliced through the room’s restriction with one sword strike, then appeared before Jiang Shaomu.

“Uncle Hua, what on earth is going on? My master won’t be in danger, right?” Jiang Shaomu asked hurriedly.

“You only need to know that staying here will mean losing your life,” Hua Yuanxian grabbed him and flew toward the foot of the mountain from the other side of Wuyou Peak, saying anxiously, “Your master told me to tell you never to return in the future, and if you can stay with the divine dragon, then stay there. Don’t delay, don’t ask why, and don’t let your master’s efforts go to waste!”

Jiang Shaomu’s heart clutched.

He knew the severity of the situation, his mind filled with doubts, and he wanted to ask what on earth was going on. But in that moment, he forced himself to hold back, looking at the light in the sky—that was his master fighting—and Jiang Shaomu took a deep breath, following closely behind Hua Yuanxian.

Descending all the way, Jiang Shaomu saw a glowing circle at the foot of the mountain.

Hua Yuanxian brought him through the circle, successfully passing through the Wuyou Peak array. But the next moment, they saw a red-clad figure plummeting toward the ground before them.

“Master!”

“Junior Sister!”

Two figures charged toward the red-clad figure simultaneously, grabbing her.

“Master!” Jiang Shaomu’s eyes turned red, his heart throbbing. “Master, are you alright?!”

Miao Luohua’s mouth was covered in blood, and she reached up to wipe it away, looking at the sky.

Just then, Hong Qianfan’s figure appeared before them with a dark expression, looking at the three, and then said coldly, “Good, Junior Brother Hua, I truly didn’t expect you to join in her foolishness as well.”

“Senior Brother, can’t you just let Shaomu go? I’ll have him never return to the Kuitian Sword Sect, is that not enough?!” Miao Luohua pleaded.

Hong Qianfan didn’t look at her, his gaze calmly fixed on Jiang Shaomu. “Nephew Shaomu, do you know that your existence now concerns the survival of our Kuitian Sword Sect? If you truly held a heart for protecting the sect, you shouldn’t be thinking of escaping right now.”

He extended his hand.

BOOM!

An unimaginable force erupted from his body, sweeping toward Jiang Shaomu and the other two, and Hua Yuanxian and Miao Luohua were unable to resist the force, carried backward.

“Master!” Jiang Shaomu’s hands went empty, and he could only watch as Miao Luohua drifted away from him.

“Nephew Shaomu, everything today was caused by you; stop struggling,” Hong Qianfan said softly.

Jiang Shaomu’s heart felt desolate, and in that moment, a realization finally dawned in his mind, though it was too late, and he likely had no more chances.

Hong Qianfan waved his hand casually, and a deep blue light shot toward Jiang Shaomu. At this moment, he no longer hesitated, launching a lethal strike, preparing to take Jiang Shaomu into the deep underground beneath Wuyou Peak where the entity was suppressed.

Jiang Shaomu closed his eyes.

Suddenly, he felt his body shudder violently, and then he was pulled in a circle, and a warm body collapsed into his embrace.

In an instant, Jiang Shaomu found his hands wet.

He opened his eyes quickly, seeing Miao Luohua lying in his arms, her body covered in blood, which quickly stained his own clothes as well.

In that critical moment, Miao Luohua had appeared before Jiang Shaomu at incredible speed, pushing him away, though her own body was pierced by the blue light.

Miao Luohua raised her head to look at Jiang Shaomu, wanting to say something, but in the end, she said nothing. She merely smiled at Jiang Shaomu, then reached out with her blood-stained hand to stroke his cheek.

Jiang Shaomu’s mind went blank for an instant, feeling as if his soul was frozen.

“Ahhh!” He could only howl out instinctively.

The next moment, his body was likewise pierced by the blue light.
