I wonder if it’s because of the medication.
I felt unusually good, unlike my usual self.
If I were to describe it, it felt like floating on a fluffy cloud.
Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy the otherwise boring class.
Normally, I just space out during class.
The content is all stuff I already know, and even group activities are boring.
But today, the activities were so fulfilling that I felt elated.
“Yeji, are you having a good day?”
“Yeah.”
“Your smiling face is pretty.”
“Oh, thank you.”
It was to the point where even a classmate I’d never met before spoke to me.
It made me realize the importance of smiling.
I guess I can continue my school life like this, taking the medication.
“Alright, everyone, if you’re all here, let’s start assigning dorms.”
And in the remaining time, we, the special training candidates, were assigned dorms.
The teacher with glasses kept adjusting them as he verbally informed us.
There were two types of dorms, rooms for four and rooms for six, and I was assigned to a room for four.
Kim Aram, Jang Yuna, Kang Sia. And me, making four.
When I first heard it, I thought I was lucky.
All three of them were on good terms with me.
Not to mention Kang Sia, Kim Aram and Jang Yuna were people I often hung out with.
And the next thought I had was that it was unexpected.
Honestly, considering Kang Sia’s family background, it would have been strange for her not to participate.
She probably eagerly applied along with Kang Siwoo.
On the other hand, Kim Aram and Jang Yuna didn’t seem to have deep concerns about their career paths.
It felt more like they were trying it out because they had the talent, rather than having a definite goal.
So I thought they wouldn’t do the special training, but it doesn’t matter.
The important thing is that I can live with my friends.
So, I glanced at the others who were objecting and then stepped back.
And I immediately called my aunt.
“Hey, Aunt. I got my dorm assignment.”
As soon as I said that, my aunt’s questions poured out.
And most of the questions were exactly what I expected.
What are the talents of the friends I was assigned with?
Are they friends worth keeping close to, and so on.
Most of them were extremely unpleasant questions that judged the students as raw stones from my aunt’s perspective.
It made me want to intentionally address her as ‘older sister’ to get her attention.
‘I wish she would be careful with her words and actions on her own.’
“Anyway, please pack my things. There’s a lot to pack, so pay attention.”
I ended the call with that.
Considering my aunt’s personality, she would definitely pack very efficiently, but I didn’t stop her.
I didn’t have much to pack anyway.
And it wasn’t like it was inefficient, so there was no need to stop her.
More than anything, it was almost dinner time, and I didn’t want to ruin my appetite.
And my choice was indeed valid.
“Wow, Yeji! Today’s dinner is the best!”
“Eat slowly. It’s self-serve.”
“Ha, Yeji, you don’t know? Because it’s self-serve, nothing will be left.”
Saying that, Jang Yuna munched on the steak that filled her plate.
I exchanged a glance with Kim Aram for a moment and decided to think positively.
Because right in front of us, two siblings were engaged in a fierce battle.
“You brat! Are you so hungry that you’re stealing your brother’s meat!?”
“What? Brat? Instead of offering it to your younger sister, you took the pudding first!?”
“Being so petty over a pudding?”
“Pudding is one per person… but meat isn’t?”
Their argument ended when I, unable to watch any longer, offered them a pudding.
I looked at Kang Sia, who was smiling as if they hadn’t been fighting a moment ago, and spoke.
“I’m sorry, Aram.”
“No, there’s nothing to be sorry about.”
Kim Aram quietly moved her chopsticks and added.
“I knew it would be a mess anyway.”
“Haha…”
“It won’t be boring living in the dorm.”
I nodded in agreement, and at that moment, the three of them stood up simultaneously.
Their plates were already empty, so I assumed they were all going for more food.
I was also hungry, so I got up, ignoring Kim Aram’s seemingly fed-up look.
I’m not usually one to overeat, but, well.
Today’s meal is delicious, and I’ll be using my body a lot from now on.
The fat will naturally come off or go to my chest with the special training, so I let loose and overate today.
And the thought that I would lose weight with the special training was not wrong.
As soon as I entered a gymnasium-like place wearing a tracksuit, I saw a familiar face.
“Invisible Man!”
As soon as I shouted happily, he grinned and replied.
“That’s right, it’s me! Invisible Man!”
Instantly, everyone’s attention turned to him.
He slowly looked at the students’ faces and then spoke as if he had been waiting.
“Students! You fought with me during the entrance exam, right? Special training is no different.”
Invisible Man said that and started explaining.
Each special training session builds practical experience in a different way.
Sometimes they engage in urban warfare, sometimes they fight against giant monsters, and they also practice interpersonal combat.
“And after every fight, be sure to review and think about how to improve your abilities!”
“Why is that?”
“The student who asked ‘why’, well done! If you only have one card, it’s easy to be seen through! You always have to create other moves!”
Invisible Man’s words were correct.
As the Red Queen told Alice, if you don’t run, you’ll fall behind.
Ability is your weapon, so honing it is not a choice but a necessity.
So I was trying to listen carefully to Invisible Man’s words.
But suddenly, he closed his mouth and looked at us.
“Ah.”
With a short exclamation, I hurriedly stepped back.
I thought I knew what Invisible Man was thinking.
Right after that, Invisible Man rushed forward, and a reenactment of the entrance exam unfolded.
No, it wasn’t a complete reenactment.
Unlike before, Invisible Man wasn’t just engaging in close combat.
Invisible Ball.
A secret technique that condenses the energy in the body into a sphere and throws it.
Even a hard-thrown baseball hurts, so throwing energy was difficult to deal with.
And of course, it was transparent, so it was hard to predict its trajectory.
If my memory is correct, he could twist the trajectory of the Invisible Ball several times.
Of course, since it’s training now, he’ll probably just throw it in a straight line.
And my thoughts weren’t wrong, but in a way, they were.
Unlike the entrance exam, he completely concealed his presence and only threw Invisible Balls.
As a result, most of the students were helplessly hit.
Most of the students couldn’t detect Invisible Man in the first place.
Naturally, they couldn’t detect the Invisible Balls he threw either.
They just stood there blankly, got hit in the head with a sphere, and that was it.
So, I thought it would be a one-sided slaughter.
But it wasn’t.
“Everyone, gather! Let’s give it a try!”
“The teacher seems to be over there! Everyone, use your abilities carefully!”
“Avoid friendly fire! If we overlap here, we’re wiped out!”
The students who had been hit a few times started to gather, full of determination.
Some students summoned monsters to block the spheres, while others deployed barriers or hardened their bodies.
In addition, Kang Siwoo and Kang Sia seemed to be able to detect the Invisible Balls, skillfully slicing through them.
So I thought about joining them, but something felt strange.
…Since when did I think Invisible Man would go easy on us?
As soon as I realized that, the students at the center of the group began to be subdued.
Did they not think that Invisible Man would be in the group?
The students were noticeably flustered and started friendly fire.
An enraged oni swung its flame-engulfed arm.
Someone, half-lost in reason, was randomly attacking the students around them.
As a result, most of the students collapsed soon after.
It wasn’t strange.
They haven’t received proper training yet, so they have a long way to go.
And I probably have a long way to go too.
“…Ugh!”
“Haha, student! Thanks for waiting!”
There was no time to respond.
I could sense the movement with my pit organs, but I couldn’t completely defend, perhaps.
Even though I was just lightly kicked in the leg, it was hard to move.
“Can I play a little longer?”
Invisible Man said that, partially revealing himself.
He must have thought that it didn’t matter whether he hid or not.
And it was actually true, so I wasn’t upset.
A hero with long experience and a rookie like me can’t be on the same level.
So I was slowly trying to resist, but something was strange.
I couldn’t feel anything… that could be called an emotion.
