When Aram immediately bowed her head, realizing her mistake, Seohee shook her head.
“Truly, I was only thinking about the baby in words.”
Wasn’t refusing the IV drip out of fear that something might go wrong with the baby ultimately just selfishness for her own sake?
In reality, she hadn’t paid attention to a single thing for the child.
How could she forget the baby’s prenatal nickname?
Seohee, blaming herself, bit her lip in the end.
Then, she suddenly felt angry.
Wasn’t Leehyun just as guilty for never mentioning a prenatal nickname?
‘How unfair.’
A feeling of petulant resentment poked out maliciously.
Seohee plodded past the main house and stepped into the annex.
The moment the door opened, Leehyun’s faint scent brushed past the tip of her nose.
“Leehyun will be late today too, won’t he?”
Passing through the meeting room with a large desk and entering Leehyun’s study, Seohee hesitated before sitting in his chair.
“I will go check the Representative’s schedule.”
After Seohee nodded and Aram stepped outside, she was the only one left in the room.
“There isn’t even a single photograph.”
The desk was excessively neat.
Not a single scrap of paper lay scattered about, and the only thing resting there was a fountain pen at most.
There really wasn’t a single photograph.
She found it absurd that feelings of hurt kept surging over such trivial matters.
“A prenatal nickname?”
Stroking her belly with her right hand and stretching her left arm across the desk, Seohee slumped down sideways.
‘When he cared so much about the medical checkups.’
‘When he made such a fuss even over washing a single lemon, how could he forget a prenatal nickname?’
As if forgetting that Leehyun didn’t even have time to eat, she swallowed her complaints with a sigh.
Knock, knock.
Aram entered along with the knocking sound, but Seohee remained lying down without getting up.
“Madam, are you hurting somewhere?”
“No, it’s nothing.”
As Seohee slowly lifted her upper body, Aram patted her chest in relief.
“The Representative canceled his evening schedule today and said he would be home around seven.”
“Yes, thank you.”
“I’ll stay here a little longer before heading out.”
“Please go and rest, Aram.”
Aram and Seungho resided in the annex.
It was something Leehyun had told her when Seohee worried about the two of them always retiring late and appearing at the crack of dawn.
From then on, Seohee often urged Aram to go and rest, and after refusing a few times, Aram, realizing that Seohee would not back down, would retreat while telling her to call if needed.
“Please call me right away if you need anything.”
After sitting in Leehyun’s chair for quite a while even after Aram left, Seohee was just about to leave the study when Seungho opened the door.
“Chief Jung.”
When Seohee greeted him with familiarity, Seungho bowed his head politely.
“The Representative is scheduled to arrive home within an hour.”
Checking his wristwatch, Seungho added a concise explanation, and Seohee nodded.
“Does Leehyun eat while he works?”
There were so many things she wanted to ask, but seeing Seungho alone, the question that ultimately burst out was about Leehyun’s meals.
Finding it absurd even after asking, Seohee chuckled softly.
“Yes.”
“He had a simple sandwich after the luncheon meeting.”
Despite it being a luncheon meeting, he had clearly eaten nothing during the conference itself.
To think he had only eaten a single sandwich afterward.
Truly, she had no idea who was supposed to be telling whom to take care of their body.
As Seohee’s expression hardened, Seungho hurriedly added.
“The Representative originally does not eat much.”
At the remark intended to ease her worry, Seohee’s expression turned even darker.
“Before I lost my memory, did he only eat about one meal a day too?”
Seungho was momentarily flustered.
Seohee did not miss that subtle change.
“Please tell me the truth.”
After hesitating for a long while, he avoided Seohee’s gaze and spoke.
“You always prepared breakfast and dinner, Madam.”
“When the Representative had time, he would leave work early and eat together with you.”
It was the truth.
Leehyun, who had never bothered about meals, had started returning home in time for dinner whenever possible at some point.
Seungho had thought that such a change in Leehyun wasn’t a bad thing.
At Seungho’s answer, Seohee’s face darkened completely.
It meant that because her memory loss combined with morning sickness had prevented her from preparing Leehyun’s meals properly, his eating habits had grown even worse.
Yet despite that, wasn’t he the one who had worried only about her all night yesterday?
‘Who is worrying about whom, really?’
Knowing the desperate look in his eyes as he watched her throw up even water, she felt all the more heartbroken.
Hadn’t Leehyun missed dinner yesterday because of her too?
‘I shouldn’t have acted so spoiled.’
She felt she had been far too harsh on a man who had returned after an exhausting day of work.
Her heart felt heavy, feeling that she had failed to take proper care of both the baby and Leehyun.
“Thank you, Chief Jung.”
Passing Seungho, Seohee went into the main house and began preparing dinner.
Just as she was heating soup and taking out a few side dishes, Leehyun walked in.
“You’re back?”
“……Yes.”
Leehyun stopped dead in his tracks and stared quietly at Seohee.
“What are you doing?”
The gaze watching her bustle around the dining room more busily than usual was filled with worry.
Unspoken words asking if her body was alright and if the morning sickness was bearable were conveyed through his eyes.
“I’m setting up dinner.”
“Because I feel a bit better right now.”
Even though she phrased it obliquely to mean her nausea had subsided, Leehyun understood immediately.
A subtle light flickered in his eyes, which had been dark for days.
“That’s the best news I’ve heard in a while.”
As Leehyun strode over, gently wrapped his arms around her waist, and pressed his lips against the nape of her neck, a soft gasp escaped Seohee’s lips.
Before she could even process the sudden rush of sensation, Leehyun disappeared into the bedroom.
“I’ll wash up quickly and be right back.”
His low, monotonous voice was so strangely seductive that force entered the hand gripping the edge of the dining table.
Along with the thudding sound of her racing heart, her lips went dry.
To manage her heart that was beating as fast as if she had been running, Seohee exhaled a long breath.
“Ah, underwear.”
Since she was looking after him anyway, she wanted to do it properly.
Stepping in with brisk little steps, she heard the sound of water as Leehyun showered.
Where was it?
She thought it would be somewhere in the dressing room, but she couldn’t remember at all.
‘Did I never take care of things like this?’
As she tilted her head in wonder, she sensed a presence behind her.
“What are you looking for?”
When Leehyun embraced her from behind, rubbing his lips against the nape of her neck as he spoke, she ran short of breath on her own.
Just then, her head turned back and met Leehyun’s face squarely.
At a precarious distance where their lips might touch at any second, a droplet of water trickling from Leehyun’s hair fell onto Seohee’s lips.
“Ah—”
“Seohee.”
A deeply strained voice and eyes yearning for her as if to swallow her whole.
A tingle shot through her lower abdomen, and she gulped down dry saliva.
Her strength drained away as if she might melt at any moment.
As she stared blankly at Leehyun, his thumb grazed across her lips.
Damp hair, eyes seized with desire and heat, sensuously parted lips, a solid jawline, and broad shoulders.
Unable to tear her eyes away from any part of him, her breathing grew progressively ragged.
Gently rubbing over her pulsing wrist, Leehyun asked.
“Can I kiss you?”
Was he really asking for her permission right now, after pressing his lips so close that the slightest nod would have them devoured?
She had merely lowered her chin slightly, yet Seohee’s lower lip brushed against Leehyun’s.
As if taking that as permission, Leehyun turned her around without hesitation.
When his tongue, having thoroughly explored her lower and upper lips, suddenly invaded with swift speed, Seohee took a step backward.
Fearing she might flee, Leehyun gripped her waist firmly and pushed her backward.
“Mmm.”
With one hand on her waist and the other on her thigh, Leehyun repeatedly plunged his tongue deep inside and drew it back, over and over again.
That single simple act made heat rush violently through her.
Her lower abdomen and lower body burned with a sharp tingle, and her breathing turned wild.
As if unleashing the pent-up desires he had been unable to satisfy, Leehyun’s tongue moved without restraint.
After tantalizing her as if playing with her, he ultimately took her tongue into his mouth and bit down gently.
Simultaneously, their upper bodies pressed flush against each other.
Ah.
An unimaginable sensation rushed over her, as if monochrome and brilliant colors danced in turns.
Her face burned, knowing what the hard object pressing against her lower belly was even without looking.
Shy of meeting his eyes, she turned her head slightly, but Leehyun tangled his tongue with hers again and again as if to say there was no chance.
“Ah, mmph!”
Her legs lost their strength under the warmth that swept over her as if crushing her heart.
When she slid down as if clinging to him, Leehyun caught her with solid support and lifted her onto the makeup vanity in one smooth motion.
At her suddenly elevated vantage point, Seohee hastily swallowed her saliva.
As he nibbled her earlobe and bit at her pulsing neck, her upper body arched backward, spilling a decadent moan.
What should she do?
Seohee could hardly keep her senses intact.
Her body relaxed as if welcoming his familiar touch, greeting Leehyun.
As she blinked hazily, Leehyun met her gaze.
His lips, softly curving as if pleased, glistened with her saliva.
Under Leehyun’s touch creeping further up the inside of her thighs, a dizzying sensation swirled over her like standing under the scorching summer sun.
Every time Leehyun gently stroked her thigh with his index finger, her legs shook uncontrollably.
After teasing her thighs as if playing piano keys, Leehyun sucked hard on her lips and let go.
“Seohee, press your thighs tightly together.”
He commanded in a thick, deeply strained voice.
His black pupils were flushed red with heat.
