Chapter 39: The Sparrow

Something was kneading my thigh. The hand seemed to be gradually moving upward—and my consciousness snapped awake in an instant. Where are you touching, you pervert bastard?!

“AAAAAHHH!”

For a moment, time seemed to stand still. Both Jung Saebin, who’d been kneading my thigh, and me, who’d woken up screaming from some unpleasant dream, stared at each other and went mute.

Question 1: Why is he here?

Question 2: Why is he kneading my thigh here?

Question 3: Why is the hand that was kneading my thigh slowly moving upward at this very moment?

Question 4: Why is the hand that was groping its way up my thigh turning sideways right there?

As I reached the fourth question, I freaked out and smacked his hand away. He looked at me with the pitiful eyes of an abandoned puppy.

Not a single thing about this situation made any sense—I was dumbfounded. No, I do understand one thing: that goddamn locksmith is definitely handing out copies of my house key to everyone.

“Sparrow.”

“…Huh?”

The bastard, who’d been frozen silent, finally opened his mouth. It was a ridiculous nickname, but since it seemed to be directed at me, I answered—and a blush rose on his cheeks.

“As expected.”

I couldn’t stand hearing that. What do you mean “as expected”? I slowly, very slowly, moved away from the bed, not knowing what crazy thing this lunatic might do next. Fortunately, he stayed still, looking at his own hands—the ones that had been greedily kneading my thigh—until I was standing upright looking down at him.

I was grateful he’d woken me from what seemed like a nightmare—but kneading my thigh until it ached was anything but welcome. Seeing I was still in my suit, I took off my tie and jacket and unbuttoned my shirt. It felt stifling after waking up—I just wanted to make myself comfortable. It absolutely had nothing to do with what that bastard was saying.

“How did you know I wanted to bite your nipples?”

Ignore him, ignore. He’s always been like that. I turned around and rebuttoned the half-opened buttons. That should be fine. Wiping the sweat from my forehead, I turned back—and this time, after watching me sway my hips, he said he wanted to bite my ass.

Suddenly the twins came to mind. Birds of a feather flock together—they’re a perfect match.

“Look, sunbae.”

I held back all the questions I wanted to fire at him, forcing a smile. The situation was worse than with the twins. The phone that had shown a 15% battery warning last night had probably been dead for a while, and the landline was too far away.

Judging by this lunatic’s vibe, if I ran, he’d chase me down like a ghost in a horror movie—so I couldn’t move recklessly. Calling for backup was impossible. And judging by the recoil when I’d smacked his hand away and the lingering ache in my thigh, overpowering him by force wasn’t an option either.

I wiped my cold sweat without even having time to seriously contemplate why I, with zero attractive qualities, was facing a threat to my chastity. Unlike the twins, it’s not like he was trying to annoy me out of spite—so why was he acting like this?

His gaze, turned toward me in response to my soft call, was incredibly intense. Why aren’t his eyes vacant now? Why are they so clear instead? Watching his subtly smiling blank expression, I opened my mouth to speak. Yes. To speak. But instead, I used my slightly open mouth to gape in shock.

“How much does your d*ck swing?”

“…Huh?”

“Sparrows hop, so does it hop-hop-swing every time you walk?”

“…Excuse me?”

“Then you’re Hop-Hop? Hey Hop-Hop, I want to chew. Won’t you spread your hole for me?”

As if possessed, I flipped him off. I didn’t want to curse out loud, but I desperately wanted to give him some kind of insult. Jung Saebin looked at my hand, then tilted his head to meet my eyes.

“Got it.”

He said that with a smirk, so I thought he understood after all. But soon I realized that was a grave misunderstanding. The moment I lowered my hand, the crazy bastard lunged at me, laid me down, and pulled down both my pants and underwear in one go.

“Ar—, are you crazy?! What are you doing?!”

Ignoring my scream, he tossed my pants and underwear far away, grabbed my thighs, and spread them wide. Flustered and stammering, I felt hot breath on my lower half.

“Su—, sunbae, wait. Sunbae!”

I naturally flinched and grabbed the back of his head. But as the breath grew closer, I used my other hand to push his forehead away. Jung Saebin lifted his head slightly and met my eyes.

“Hop-Hop, what’s this? Why are you pushing? Move it, okay?”

“No, why would I move it? Would you move it if you were me?”

At that, he frowned and tried to lower his head again. I pulled harder on the hand gripping his hair.

“Wai—, wait. Wait…”

He ignored my protests and tried to lower his head—but stopped. Taking that chance to push him away completely, I moved the hand on his forehead to his cheek. Jung Saebin grabbed the wrist of the hand holding his hair.

“Ow!”

For someone who looked so frail, he was incredibly strong—a sharp pain shot up from my caught wrist. It hurt so much I couldn’t even think of twisting free; I just stayed captured.

“Hop-Hop, are you teasing me?”

With one cheek pushed in, half his face squished, he was still smiling. The sight was like a scene from a horror movie—it gave me chills. I instinctively backed away. Jung Saebin, wiping the smile off his face, raised his other hand and grabbed the wrist of the hand pushing his cheek. The moment I felt the intense pain, the strength left my arm. With both wrists captured, he brought his face right up to mine.

“Are you teasing me?”

“Wh—, what?”

“I haven’t even properly smelled your cunt yet—why are you acting like this?”

His words were absurd, but his face looked like the most wronged person in the world—so pitiful I wanted to hug him. I shook my head to snap myself out of it. Don’t get swept up. Don’t get swept up.

As I muttered that, Jung Saebin pushed me—half-sitting—all the way down, then grabbed my hip with the hand that had been holding my right wrist.

“Wah!”

I screamed in surprise. And purely on instinct, I swung my hand and slammed it into his face.

“Ah.”

With an ominous thud, he let go of me and covered his face. I used that chance to quickly put my clothes back on, ran into the room, and hid in the corner. I’d never really watched thrillers, but I felt like he’d chase after me like a killer from one of those movies.

Hiding alone didn’t seem enough—I looked around for something I could use as a weapon. I spotted a baseball bat scattered under the bed, grabbed it, and crouched back in the corner.

Wow, I actually hit someone. I really hit him. Did I hit him too hard? It must hurt. All sorts of thoughts ran through my head as I clutched the bat—which I’d grabbed for self-defense but had no intention of actually using—and waited for him for what felt like several minutes.

But contrary to my expectations, he didn’t chase me at all—I couldn’t hear anything. I’d just swung impulsively… Could I have hit him somewhere bad? Could he be unconscious?

Suddenly alarmed, I threw down the bat I’d been clutching and ran back to the living room. Jung Saebin was still in the same spot, head lowered. At least he didn’t seem unconscious.

“Hyung, are—, are you okay?”

I quickly sat in front of him and lifted his head. Surprisingly, Jung Saebin—a healthy 29-year-old man—was sobbing. Even more shocking was that it suited him. I was at least relieved he didn’t seem seriously injured.

Letting out a long sigh, I collapsed onto the floor. Looking up at his crying face, I let out a hollow laugh. This is absurd. Seriously, even his crying face is pretty…? As I watched him blankly, I noticed his cheek was swelling alarmingly. I must have hit him pretty hard. Feeling guilty toward the guy who couldn’t even touch his own face because it hurt so much, I sighed.

“Wait here. I’ll get an ice pack.”

I patted his shoulder a couple times and got up. As I headed to the kitchen to make an ice pack, my foot caught on the baseball bat that had rolled out of the room. My trembling self clutching a bat I had no intention of swinging overlapped with Jung Saebin’s face as he sobbed like a child—and I felt my face burn. Ugh… So embarrassing…

“…Hyung.”

“What.”

Jung Saebin, with a pout so obvious anyone could see he was sulking, spoke in clipped tones. After applying the ice pack, he’d stopped crying and entered this state. At first, since I was the one who hit him, I tried to soothe him—but he showed no signs of coming around.

I know I hit him without controlling my strength, but I don’t think he has the right to sulk and snap like this. …Hah, whatever. I feel bad for hitting him and he looks pitiful in pain—but I don’t have the skill to soothe a sulking person….

“Does it hurt a lot?”

“Yeah.”

…His honest answer left me speechless for a moment. I’d applied ice to his red, swollen cheek, so of course it hurt—but usually people say they’re fine, don’t they? I didn’t feel like pointing that out, so I just shut my mouth and brushed his wet hair back.

I did feel bad—he really looked like he was in pain. If he’d just kept his mouth shut, I probably would’ve genuinely apologized regardless of what he’d done to me. Ignoring his pout, I took the ice pack and rubbed it on his cheek—his hair and clothes were getting wet from the condensation.

“I’ll grab a towel.”

Giving up, I got up and brought one.

“Here.”

“Don’t need it.”

I’d brought it all the way here, but he refused without hesitation.

“Hey, if you lean like that, the sofa will get wet! Put this behind you!”

“…No.”

I’d brought the cleanest towel I could find out of consideration—but Jung Saebin just pouted and leaned his wet body against the sofa’s headrest. There’s a limit to turning the tables. If I’m being patient enough to soothe you, shouldn’t you at least apologize? Suppressing my rising anger, I forced a smile and opened my mouth.
