Zenon, noticing the gaze, snapped a threat.
But to Han Hoseong, it sounded like nothing but a last-ditch bluff.
“You told me to look.”
“Your eyes are weird!”
“What about my eyes?”
“F*cking obnoxious.”
“You really have a way with words.”
Zenon entered his password irritably.
His thumbnail clicked against the screen, tap, tap.
“I am logging into other sites.”
“Go ahead.”
Zenon accessed various sites in front of Han Hoseong.
But not one of them let him log in.
Only the message [Incorrect password] kept popping up, infuriatingly.
“This cannot be.”
“I have been hacked!”
“All the sites you are registered on got hacked at the same time?”
“Right now?”
“That is why I am saying this!”
“Someone deliberately did this.”
“My ID is still there, so it is not that the account was deleted.”
“Did they change the password?”
“If I can just find the password……”
“Ah, f*ck.”
“I do not have my phone.”
“No certificate either.”
Zenon glared at the identity verification button with murderous intent, as if it were his parents’ sworn enemy.
“Why does every single thing keep asking me to prove who I am?”
“What is this, Socrates?”
“Ancient Greece?”
“Enough.”
Watching Zenon half in panic was hard in more ways than one.
Han Hoseong was worried about his own future, but he also felt sorry for Zenon.
Only a person suffering from a delusion could be tormented by such real feelings.
Han Hoseong took the phone away.
“Let us go to the hospital when the sun rises.”
“No.”
“Would a doctor believe me?”
“At least you know that much.”
It was a relief that he still had some shred of common sense.
Han Hoseong grabbed Zenon’s hands.
Zenon flinched as both hands were suddenly caught.
Han Hoseong expected him to pull away, but he did not.
“Let us go to the hospital, Zenon.”
“You need professional help.”
He said it while looking into Zenon’s eyes.
Han Hoseong hoped that as their eyes met, maybe their hearts could connect too.
But Zenon just snorted in response.
“Just call a shaman.”
“That would be more helpful.”
For a moment, the thought crossed his mind: ‘Maybe I should really call a shaman and exorcise the bastard said to be possessing Zenon’s body.’
‘Maybe I am the one going crazy too.’
Han Hoseong released Zenon’s hands.
After all, Zenon had not been possessed by someone.
His mind had broken from the shock of a suicide attempt.
Han Hoseong could not let himself be swept into Zenon’s delusions.
“……Maybe we will feel better after we sleep.”
Both he and Zenon needed time to get away from the shock.
Maybe the confusion had been temporary, making Zenon truly believe the nonsense about possession and being Kangmun’s fourth-generation heir.
“It is late too.”
“I have a shoot tomorrow……”
Han Hoseong glanced at the clock and let out a sigh.
He was going to get so little sleep as it was, and now he had lost even that.
“Let us rest for today.”
“……”
“Just asking, but do you remember where your room is?”
“Want me to recite the house address?”
“……Forget it.”
“Get up.”
“I will take you there.”
Han Hoseong helped Zenon up.
He walked through the living room, which was a mess from the earlier outburst, and opened the door to the room.
A sharp, metallic-sweet smell hit his nose.
“Hahk!”
Even Han Hoseong, who was not easily startled, was shocked this time.
After all, anyone would be horrified to find a magic circle drawn on the floor in blood.
Even more so if that room was his own.
“What is all this?”
“Are those candles?”
“How many candles did you light in here?”
“What if the place catches fire?”
“I do not know.”
“Why are you asking me?”
“Go question that guy Zenon.”
“You are Zenon!”
“And what is that?”
“A broken mirror?”
The more he looked around the room, the more his head throbbed.
A practical worry pressed in: ‘When exactly will I clean this all up?’
Han Hoseong pressed his temples.
“Just go to sleep.”
“We will talk tomorrow with clear heads.”
Zenon crawled onto the bed without a word.
Then he yanked the blanket over himself.
He looked like a sulky teenager after fighting with his parents.
Han Hoseong let out a dry laugh at the absurdity and added one thing.
“If something is troubling you, tell me.”
As expected, there was no answer.
Just past midnight.
Lee Jujin returned.
He had been filming recently as the second male lead in a web drama, and today’s shoot seemed to have ended late as well.
“I am back…… Huh?”
“What is all this?”
Lee Jujin flinched as he stepped through the front door.
The living room was in disarray, and his three groupmates sat around with grim faces.
He had every right to be surprised.
“Jujin.”
“Come sit for a second.”
“What, why?”
“You are freaking me out.”
“Did something happen?”
Lee Jujin approached, fidgeting.
Han Hoseong could not bring himself to say, “Nothing happened.”
Instead, he offered a little reassurance.
“Nothing has leaked to the public.”
“Not yet…… Probably will not either.”
“We will make sure it does not.”
Moon Haeil chimed in.
Lee Jujin looked around at the three with a confused expression, then plopped down on a stool next to the sofa.
“I am really anxious, so just tell me already.”
“I thought things were going too smoothly lately.”
“It was about time for something bad……”
Maybe it was because they had gone through their unknown days together.
His way of thinking sounded a lot like his own.
Han Hoseong looked at Lee Jujin with sympathy as he began.
“Something happened to Zenon……”
He explained how Zenon had been found collapsed on a blood-drawn magic circle.
The circumstances suggested a suicide attempt.
And after waking up, he insisted he was “Woo Yeongchan, a fourth-generation chaebol scion.”
Lee Jujin was dumbfounded.
“……What?”
“That is how it ended up.”
“No, what does that even mean?”
“I do not get it at all.”
Lee Jujin turned to Seol Itae.
He believed that Seol Itae, being the logical one, would give a more convincing explanation.
But Seol Itae just sat there blankly.
“Seol Itae’s broken right now.”
“What does that mean?”
“Looked like his brain got overloaded.”
“Hey, stop joking around and explain it straight!”
“It is just as Hoseong hyung said.”
Moon Haeil frowned with his thick eyebrows.
“That guy Kim Jeguk has lost it, plain and simple.”
“His personality changed too, turned violent.”
“He was like a mad dog.”
“N-no, that is impossible.”
“Is this a hidden camera?”
“It is a prank, is it not?”
Lee Jujin whipped his head around looking for a hidden camera, then grabbed his head.
“This is not broadcast TV, and who would make a prank show using a suicide attempt as the material?”
“They would get eaten alive……”
“It is real.”
Han Hoseong said weakly.
Meeting two people in one day who refused to accept reality left him drained.
Of course, in Lee Jujin’s case, he had not witnessed Zenon flying into a rage, so it made sense that he could not believe it.
“I would not question it if it were someone else, but Zenon hyung getting violent?”
“That hyung?”
“Even if the suicide attempt is true……”
Realizing he had said something wrong, Lee Jujin quickly shut his mouth.
Han Hoseong, however, sympathized with him.
Zenon had always been extremely timid.
Not just by idol standards, either.
Even after four years of working together, he still kept his distance from the other members.
“Maybe because he was like that, he finally snapped.”
Seol Itae muttered.
Moon Haeil, sitting next to him, ground his teeth.
“Who cares?”
“There is no need to try and understand.”
“The problem is we spoiled him.”
“We kept cutting him slack, and now he is doing insane things without scruples!”
“Haeil, calm down.”
“What if Zenon hears you?”
“So what?”
“Hyung, honestly, was I wrong?”
“Even the blog thing……”
The moment that incident was brought up, Han Hoseong’s face darkened.
Noticing this, Moon Haeil went quiet.
Whether Zenon heard harsh words or not did not matter, but Han Hoseong being troubled was not acceptable.
“Anyway, let us figure out how to handle this.”
“We do not know the cause, but we cannot just stay in a panic.”
Seizing the silence, Han Hoseong spoke.
Seol Itae answered.
“What about our schedule?”
“If Zenon remembers the choreography and songs, we would be fine, but judging from earlier, I do not think he can do it.”
“Would he even want to work?”
“He always hated working like mad.”
“I think it is not that he cannot, but that he will not.”
Zenon had been driven to the edge psychologically, to the point of a suicide attempt.
Leaving the delusions aside, telling someone like that to stand in front of the public would be cruel.
“Hoseong hyung……”
As if realizing how serious the situation was, Lee Jujin’s shoulders slumped.
“So is Zenon out for now?”
“What do we tell the fans?”
“Let us find a reasonable excuse.”
“Say he got injured during practice.”
“An injury would only stop him from performing on stage, not from doing a live broadcast.”
“How about saying he’s mentally struggling?”
“That is not really a lie……”
“Okay.”
“Let us brainstorm as much as we can and talk to the CEO tomorrow.”
“I will go see him myself.”
His mouth tasted bitter.
Han Hoseong swallowed dryly and went on.
“This is just my personal thought, but I think we should not call out Zenon’s delusion outright for now.”
