Join the ServerSu Yun was startled. She stared at Lei Yan, her face a mask of disbelief.
“M-master,” Su Yun stammered, “You… you went with us too?”
Lei Yan offered no denial. Indeed, he had been there, witnessing Su Yun and Fan Yang’s every move. He had gone at Jiang Shengming’s behest, specifically to protect Lin Xue.
It seemed Jiang Shengming had anticipated trouble at the site. As the sect master, however, it was inconvenient for him to go personally. And when it came to sending others, Jiang Shengming found himself uneasy.
The reason was simple: apart from Lei Yan, the other six elders all posed potential security risks.
“You still haven’t answered me,” Lei Yan pressed. “Why did you try to kill Deng Wenqing? Don’t tell me about any schemes Deng Wenqing might have to harm Lin Xue; that’s an entirely separate matter.”
Su Yun felt a sudden headache. How could she possibly explain this? How long had she even been a disciple of Spirit Sword Mountain? What animosity could she possibly harbor towards Deng Wenqing?
Or, for that matter, how could her relationship with Lin Xue and Lin Shuang have grown so deep, so quickly? Lei Yan was utterly perplexed by Su Yun’s actions.
One could only conclude that the older ginger was spicier. Su Yun might have thought herself clever, but how could she compare to Lei Yan and the other old monsters who had lived for hundreds of years?
After a moment of hesitation, Su Yun looked at Lei Yan once more.
“Master, your disciple has some unspeakable secrets, secrets that concern Lin Shuang and Lin Xue. As for why I wanted to kill Deng Wenqing, I can only say that I sensed he intended to harm the two sisters. Therefore, I deliberately kept an eye on his whereabouts and any potential incidents within the sect recently.”
“Moreover, Deng Wenqing deserved to die,” Su Yun declared with a serious expression.
Listening to Su Yun’s words, brimming with killing intent, Lei Yan couldn’t help but freeze. He suddenly realized he might have underestimated her. Su Yun was not the mere young girl he had perceived her to be.
“Unspeakable secrets? And they involve Lin Shuang and Lin Xue? Very well. As long as it doesn’t concern the sect’s interests, you may keep your silence, and I won’t pry. After all, everyone has their own secrets.”
“However, Yun’er, you must be more cautious in your actions from now on. Your plan seemed flawless, yet you apparently never considered that others might also have more powerful cultivators secretly protecting them. If Deng Wenqing had been guarded by other Foundation Establishment cultivators, do you know what the outcome would have been?” Lei Yan asked gravely.
Truthfully, Su Yun had never considered this question, but Lei Yan’s reminder served as a stark warning.
“This disciple understands. However, Master, this Deng Wenqing absolutely must die,” Su Yun reiterated, her voice still filled with murderous intent.
Her words were a clear declaration to Lei Yan: she still intended to kill Deng Wenqing.
Lei Yan chuckled softly.
“To kill him is certainly not a problem. But he cannot die within Spirit Sword Mountain. After all, the Deng family, to which he belongs, is not a weak force, and his great-grandfather is Deng Taiyan. His death here would cause numerous complications. In truth, if you hadn’t intervened at Yunfeng Ridge today, Deng Wenqing wouldn’t have returned at all,” Lei Yan said with a cold laugh.
Su Yun froze. She finally understood Lei Yan’s meaning. If she hadn’t killed Deng Wenqing today, Lei Yan would likely have ensured his demise at Yunfeng Ridge.
She had, in a way, disrupted Jiang Shengming’s plan.
“Then, why didn’t you eliminate him along the way, Master?” Su Yun asked again.
Lei Yan shook his head.
“I merely thought that since you intended to kill him, why not grant you the opportunity? Cultivators, too, need to temper their minds through slaughter. Rest assured, I will help you conceal this matter. As for Deng Wenqing’s life, I leave it to you,” Lei Yan said, smiling.
Su Yun asked no further questions. Instead, she assured Lei Yan that she would indeed eliminate Deng Wenqing, and she would do so under circumstances that completely distanced Spirit Sword Mountain from the act.

Soon after, Su Yun departed from Artifact Forging Peak and returned to her residence. However, no sooner had she arrived than Lin Shuang, who had suddenly darted out from within, grabbed her wrist before she could even enter her room.
“Eh? Sister Lin Shuang, what are you doing?” Su Yun exclaimed.
Lin Shuang ignored Su Yun’s question, instead dragging her into her own living quarters.
Upon entering, Su Yun discovered Lin Xue was also present. The two sisters immediately cornered Su Yun against the wall, their faces stern as they gazed at her.
Seeing the intense look in both their eyes, Su Yun felt a surge of panic. After all, isn’t that how someone with a guilty conscience behaves?
“Sisters, let’s talk this through properly. What’s wrong?” Su Yun chuckled awkwardly.
Lin Shuang suddenly slammed her hand against the wall, her eyes fixed on Su Yun with a dangerous intensity.
“Junior Sister Su, I’m very curious. How did you know my sister might be in danger? Also, why did you do it? Are our relations truly that close?” Lin Shuang demanded.
Lin Shuang’s nose was almost touching Su Yun’s. The two sisters currently looked as if they were bullying Su Yun.
“This, I…” Su Yun’s eyes began to dart around.
“Stop looking away. I once knew someone who reacted exactly like that when they lied. I can tell at a glance that you’re about to concoct an excuse to fool me,” Lin Shuang said, narrowing her eyes.
In her previous life, Lin Shuang had been misled by the previous life’s Su Yun since childhood.
Su Yun had anticipated that the two girls would question her, and she had mentally prepared herself. After all, a reunion was inevitable, sooner or later.
Moreover, to be honest, she truly couldn’t come up with a convincing reason at the moment.
Yet, she still wanted to struggle a little, or perhaps feign ignorance.
“No, what exactly are you two talking about? I don’t understand,” Su Yun said, her face a picture of innocence. One truly couldn’t tell she was pretending.
Seeing Su Yun appear genuinely clueless, the two girls fell into contemplation.
“Alright then, never mind. You can go back now,” Lin Xue said, feigning disappointment.
Su Yun thought she had successfully bluffed her way through and breathed a sigh of relief, then slowly walked towards the door.
But just as Su Yun was about to step out, Lin Xue suddenly, out of the blue, uttered a sentence.
“Lin Xi, what about that girl who wrote you a love letter in high school?”
This question struck Su Yun’s weakness, causing an instinctive, uncontrollable retort to burst from her.
“Why are you bringing her up again? Haven’t I explained it many times?” Su Yun instinctively turned her head and replied.
It was only after she responded that she realized she had fallen for Lin Xue’s trick, confessing without being directly asked.
The situation was awkward. Lin Xue stood with her arms crossed, looking at Su Yun with an expression of absolute certainty, her gaze clearly indicating she had Su Yun cornered.
“Eh? This… isn’t this too devious?” Su Yun’s mouth twitched.
There were two things in her previous life that were taboo in her heart, and what Lin Xue had just mentioned was one of them.
“You?” Lin Shuang was utterly dumbfounded as well.
After all, if the person before her wasn’t her brother, why would she react so strongly?
“Ah! Fine. I thought our reunion would be much later, but it seems I couldn’t hide it any longer. You little brat, how dare you speak to your brother like that!” Su Yun, realizing her cover was blown, stopped pretending. Her eyes changed, and she stepped forward, reaching out with both hands to pinch the soft flesh of Lin Shuang’s cheeks, speaking fiercely.
Once their relationship was confirmed, the reactions of the two girls were bound to be intense.
Lin Xue stood to the side, her mind buzzing, watching Su Yun, who was pinching Lin Shuang’s cheeks, with an incredulous expression.
“You… you’re really Lin Xi?” Lin Xue asked, disbelievingly.
Lin Shuang was equally astonished. To be honest, the two sisters had considered this possibility but dared not believe the outcome.
“Haha, well, hello, my dear wife, it’s been a long time. I never thought I’d reunite with you and this little brat in this world in such a form,” Su Yun said, giving Lin Xue an awkward smile.
Lin Shuang’s initial impulse had been to escape Su Yun’s attack, but upon hearing Su Yun refer to herself as her brother, her resistance vanished. Her own suspicions certainly couldn’t compare to his direct admission.
“Heh, it seems my earlier feeling was correct. I wondered, how could I feel such a strange sense of familiarity with a woman? It really is you,” Lin Xue said with a wry smile.
Lin Shuang looked at the person before her, both strange and familiar, her eyes gradually reddening. Then, she embraced Su Yun tightly.
“Bad brother, always bullying me! You recognized us long ago, didn’t you? Why didn’t you reveal your identity to us sooner?” Lin Shuang sobbed, clinging to Su Yun.
This little girl usually appeared so strong, but that was merely a facade; in reality, her emotions were quite unstable.
“Eh? Come on, you’ve lived two lives now, can’t you be a bit more composed? Do you think I didn’t want to reunite with you sooner? I was just very conflicted. Besides, at first, I couldn’t even confirm your identities. If you hadn’t gone to Moonfall Sect and seen the bullet I left on the Moon-Gazing Platform, I truly wouldn’t have been able to confirm who you were,” Su Yun explained.
Lin Shuang and Lin Xue were stunned once more by these words.
“Moonfall Sect? That… you were the one who left the bullet at Moonfall Sect? But now you’re back at our Spirit Sword Mountain?” Lin Shuang and Lin Xue were simultaneously confused.
Su Yun certainly wouldn’t conceal these matters from the two of them; there was no need. She trusted that the two girls wouldn’t reveal her secrets. So, she recounted her experiences to them.
After listening, the two girls finally understood what had happened.
“So that’s how it is. Does that mean, Brother, you’re an infiltrator sent by Moonfall Sect to our Spirit Sword Mountain?” Lin Shuang mumbled.
Su Yun rolled her eyes, raising a hand and tapping her on the head.
“What infiltrator? That sounds awful. I’m here for advanced studies, alright? Don’t spread such nonsense,” Su Yun warned.
Lin Xue laughed wryly.
“Don’t worry, we’re not idiots. By the way, are you… are you really a woman in this life?” Lin Xue asked a very serious question.
This question, Su Yun realized, required another explanation.
“Ah! This matter is very complicated. I can only say that I was indeed a man at first, but who knew I’d have such a perverse mother? I’ll briefly explain the whole story to you two, but please, don’t laugh.”
The two girls nodded seriously.
But as Su Yun recounted her background to them, their expressions instantly crumbled, or rather, they couldn’t hold them back. Soon, the room echoed with the uncontrollable laughter of the two girls.
“Haha, this… isn’t this too preposterous, too fantastical? Senior Sister Su Muxue is actually your biological father, and that man-turned-woman from the Ancient Phoenix Clan is your biological mother. Your biological mother turned you into a girl, so now you have two mothers. Am I right?” Lin Xue summarized what she had heard.
Su Yun nodded helplessly. As absurd as it sounded, that was precisely how it was.
