Chapter 43: The Magic Temple and the Hero Princess

“Ruolin.”

“Ruolin?”

“Huh?” Ruolin suddenly awoke, realizing it was Lu Yuan calling her name.

Lu Yuan inquired, “What exactly is this Magic Temple you just mentioned?”

“Magic Temple?” Ruolin looked utterly bewildered.

“Didn’t you say you were going to that Magic Temple for some kind of test?”

“Huh?” Ruolin scratched her head. “Did I really say that?”

Lu Yuan frowned, a hint of displeasure in his expression. “You just said it yourself. You’re going to the Magic Temple, and since we’re heading the same way, you could give us a ride.”

“Is that right?” Ruolin was somewhat disoriented, but she still nodded. “Alright, I suppose?”

“Tch.”

Whether it was her imagination or not, Ruolin felt as though the little girl opposite her had clicked her tongue.

“Oh, that’s right, Lei Yin!” Ruolin suddenly recalled something and quickly spoke. “There’s something I need to tell you. I didn’t get a chance to say it in the apothecary, but after the qualification assessment ended, I tried to find you. I couldn’t, and Risdo told me you’d gone to see Guild Master Stella. I waited for you for ages, but you never came down. Now that you’re here, I absolutely must tell you.”

“What is it?” Lu Yuan asked.

“Uhm…” Ruolin, on the verge of speaking, started to stammer again. “Don’t get angry with me after I tell you, okay?”

“Just say it,” Lu Yuan’s tone was tinged with impatience.

Ruolin took a deep breath. “That… that… Secevi asked me to tell you she’s sorry, should I ever meet you!”

Lu Yuan stared at her, an expression typically reserved for imbeciles etched onto his face. “…”

Ruolin: “???” ‘What do you mean? Give me some reaction!’

“You’ve already said it,” Lu Yuan stated.

“Huh? Already said it?” Ruolin was stunned. “When did I say that?”

“Just now.” Lu Yuan’s reply was concise.

“Just now?” Ruolin’s mind raced for a moment, and then she understood.

He was toying with her!

Her face immediately showed her displeasure. “Stop messing around! I’m not in the mood for jokes!”

Lu Yuan’s expression, as if he were staring at an imbecile, became even more pronounced.

Ruolin realized that arguing with him was pointless. She then demanded, “Speaking of which, why are you two in my carriage?”

“To the Magic Temple,” Lu Yuan’s words were as succinct as ever.

“What are you going to the Magic Temple for?” Ruolin asked, baffled.

“To play,” Lu Yuan replied. “And to watch you take that… test.”

Only then did Ruolin remember that she had felt her magic growing significantly over the past few days, enough to potentially challenge for a higher-ranking magic title.

She had indeed considered going to the Magic Temple to assess her magical cultivation. But how did this man know? These were her private matters.

Moreover, he actually said he was going to the Magic Temple to ‘play’? What did he take the Magic Temple for? An amusement park?

As these thoughts swirled, Ruolin felt a surge of anger. “Do you even know what the Magic Temple is?!”

The Magic Temple, in essence, was an organization akin to the Pharmacist Guild.

However, unlike the pharmacists managed by their guild, the Magic Temple governed the mages, who were the continent’s predominant cultivators.

Beyond mages, this otherworldly continent boasted numerous other cultivators, such as knights and warriors. And among them, there was one exceptionally unique type of practitioner.

****

—A Hero.

These cultivators, with the exception of Heroes, all possessed their own professional guilds.

Heroes, due to their exceptionally unique genesis, were exceedingly rare. Lei Yin himself had never encountered one.

Little Meilin seemed quite interested in magic. When Lu Yuan used his immortal essence to heal the injuries on her hand, she had mistakenly perceived it as magic.

Because of this, Lu Yuan had also developed a certain interest in this world’s so-called mages.

“Ruolin, do you know who this ‘eldest princess’ they speak of is?” Lu Yuan asked.

Seeing that Lu Yuan not only failed to respond to her words but also changed the topic entirely, Ruolin was absolutely fuming. Still, she maintained a stern expression and replied, “Are you asking about the Eldest Princess Royal of our Sollefer Kingdom?”

“Probably?” Lu Yuan mused. The others had simply mentioned the Eldest Princess Royal had returned, without providing further details. But in Usutal City, could there be any other Eldest Princess Royal?

“Since you asked so sincerely,” Ruolin cleared her throat, “then I shall reluctantly inform you. The Eldest Princess Royal of the Sollefer Kingdom, of course, refers to our nation’s foremost powerhouse, the current commander of the Foreign Expeditionary Army, Her Royal Highness Princess Lelia, the Hero!”

“Oh,” Lu Yuan replied thoughtfully. “I heard she struck down a white whale last night.”

“Your rumors are quite well-informed, aren’t they?” Ruolin crossed her arms. “Indeed, a magical beast, a white whale, was brought down from above the royal capital last night. Only Her Royal Highness Princess Lelia in the entire capital possesses such strength.”

“She’s a Hero? Not a mage?” Lu Yuan raised an eyebrow. He had initially assumed that only mages, with powers akin to his Daoist arts, would possess the ability to strike down a demon beast of the Tribulation Transcending stage.

But to his surprise, it was a Hero.

Among the cultivators of this world, the profession of Hero seemed to be the most revered, much like the Sword Cultivators in his previous life’s cultivation world.

At once, Lu Yuan grew even more curious about the cultivators of this world.
