Chapter 50: Arrival in Japan: Hidden Intentions

Days later, at Jiangcheng International Airport.

Sunlight streamed through the massive glass windows, scattering bright patches of light across the polished floor.

A procession of black sedans slowly approached from the end of the street, coming to a smooth stop at the airport’s entrance.

One by one, the car doors opened, and a squad of impeccably trained bodyguards, clad in black suits, emerged.

With their upright postures and sharp gazes, they formed an impenetrable perimeter, anticipating the arrival of an important figure.

Moments later, Zi Yanran stepped out of one of the cars, dressed in a wine-red office ensemble. Donning sunglasses, she exuded an aura of mature elegance.

Several secretaries, all from the CEO’s office, followed closely behind her. Zhou Xiaodie was among them, quietly reporting, “Ms. Zi, the private jet is ready and can depart for Japan at any time.”

Zi Yanran nodded lightly, a flicker of anticipation in her eyes.

With a sweeping gesture, she led her entourage of bodyguards and secretaries, striding with undeniable presence into the airport terminal.

However, a familiar figure seemed to be missing from this formidable group: Bai Mengqi.

It was perplexing. As Zi Yanran’s personal bodyguard, dedicated secretary, and partner, Bai Mengqi’s presence was crucial for this vital trip to Japan. How could she be absent?

Clearly, absence was out of the question. Indeed, shortly after Zi Yanran and her group entered the airport, a cloaked figure quietly appeared at the edge of the premises.

It was a silver-haired girl wearing a baseball cap, denim shorts, and a black T-shirt. Her cap was pulled low, obscuring most of her face.

In truth, such a disguise was superfluous; her extraordinary, ethereal aura was impossible to conceal. This was undoubtedly Bai Mengqi.

Yesterday, Bai Mengqi and Zi Yanran had finalized their plan: Bai Mengqi would remain hidden in the shadows, accompanying Zi Yanran to Japan.

This approach offered numerous advantages. Firstly, should Zi Yanran encounter trouble or danger in Japan, Bai Mengqi could swiftly intervene without revealing her identity, thereby avoiding international disputes.

After all, deploying one’s power on foreign soil was fraught with risks.

By keeping her identity concealed, she could act as she pleased. However, if she were to openly follow, she would undoubtedly be investigated by relevant Japanese authorities, which would only tie her hands.

“Invisibility spell,” Bai Mengqi murmured softly, her fingers rapidly forming a hand seal.

Instantly, her body seemed to merge with the void, becoming completely imperceptible.

Once invisible, she effortlessly scaled the airport fence, entering the facility like a phantom, undetected by anyone.

With her status and strength as a cultivator, the technological means of Earth’s civilization were utterly incapable of tracing her presence.

Bai Mengqi patiently waited inside the airport for Zi Yanran and her companions to arrive.

As Zi Yanran’s group boarded their private jet, the aircraft slowly began to taxi, preparing for takeoff.

At that moment, Bai Mengqi leaped, landing gracefully on top of the plane, where she sat cross-legged.

She closed her eyes, focusing her mind and adjusting her breathing, making thorough preparations for the journey ahead.

At Zi Yanran’s command, the private jet roared as it soared into the blue sky.

For ordinary people, sitting outside an airplane would be an impossible fantasy.

Yet, in the eyes of Bai Mengqi, a cultivator, this was merely a trivial matter.

She clung to the fuselage like an ancient tree’s roots, and as the plane steadily climbed, she gradually dispelled her invisibility. Spreading her arms wide, she allowed the strong high-altitude currents to buffet her, a look of ineffable comfort and freedom gracing her face.

“Ah, this is comfortable,” Bai Mengqi exclaimed.

Meanwhile, in distant Tokyo, Japan, Matsushita Suguru stood before the floor-to-ceiling window of his office, his gaze fixed on the horizon.

Upon receiving news of Zi Yanran’s impending arrival, he immediately turned to a woman dressed in a miko outfit before him. “Ms. Kyoko, the target has departed. This time, it’s all up to you. I hope you can execute this cleanly and discreetly, leaving no trace whatsoever.”

The miko named Kyoko smiled confidently at his words.

She bowed slightly. “Rest assured, Mr. Matsushita. Since they dared to come to Japan, I have ways to ensure their ‘natural’ demise, quietly and without suspicion.”

With that, she turned and left the office to prepare for the upcoming operation.

Watching Kyoko’s retreating figure, Matsushita Suguru’s son, Matsushita Shinichi, couldn’t help but ask, “Father, must we really resort to this? Can’t we resolve the issue through more peaceful means?”

Matsushita Suguru’s expression darkened at his words. He spoke coldly, “Silence! You are too soft-hearted! This project not only concerns the interests of our Matsushita Group, but the government has also made it clear that I must secure it. Do you understand its importance?”

Matsushita Shinichi’s face showed helplessness upon hearing this.

Knowing his father’s decision was unchangeable, he sighed and said, “Very well, I’ll head to the airport to await their arrival.”

With that, he turned and left the office, heading to the airport to welcome Zi Yanran and her party.

At this moment, a tense and somber atmosphere permeated Zi Yanran’s private jet.

A female bodyguard approached Zi Yanran, speaking in a low voice, “Ms. Zi, once we enter Japanese territory, please make sure to follow our arrangements. Although this project is outwardly a contest between two companies, it is, in fact, more like a confrontation between two nations. If negotiations fail, they might seize the opportunity to strike a clandestine blow.”

Zi Yanran nodded, indicating her understanding.

She was well aware of the mission’s inherent dangers and had made thorough preparations.

Moreover, she held a secret weapon in her heart: Bai Mengqi.

Having her partner, who was no weaker than an A-rank ability user, by her side filled her with confidence.

Otherwise, if she had to rely solely on the strength of the Ability Bureau’s bodyguards, she truly might not have felt at ease.

The plane continued to soar through the sky, traversing layers of clouds, heading towards Tokyo, Japan.

Inside the cabin, Zi Yanran and the bodyguards maintained a high level of vigilance, constantly ready to respond to any unforeseen circumstances.

Bai Mengqi, meanwhile, remained steadily perched atop the plane, eyes closed in meditation, as if everything were entirely within her grasp.

As time slowly passed, the plane gradually approached Japanese airspace.

The flight from Jiangcheng to Japan took only three hours.

Zi Yanran gazed out the porthole, observing the bustling urban landscape below.

This was her first visit to Japan, and to say she wasn’t apprehensive would be a lie.

Bai Mengqi, too, cast a glance at the island nation below.

‘Such heavy Yin energy. No wonder the myths and legends of Japan are inextricably linked with demons and ghosts,’ Bai Mengqi thought, her eyes flashing with golden light.

Through her vision, the island nation of Japan was saturated with a dense, oppressive Yin energy.

Just then, the plane began its slow descent, preparing to land at Tokyo’s international airport.

Zi Yanran collected her thoughts, adjusting her attire and composure, ready to disembark.

This mission was not only about her personal honor and interests but also about Xia Country’s standing and dignity on the international stage.

Bai Mengqi once again cast her invisibility spell, flying down from the plane ahead of time. Like a bird soaring through the sky, she flew directly out of Tokyo Airport and landed in a secluded,无人 corner outside the airport.

She could fly, though it consumed a considerable amount of energy.

The plane finally settled smoothly onto the tarmac.

The cabin door opened, and Zi Yanran, accompanied by her bodyguards and secretaries, disembarked.

As soon as they exited the airport terminal, they saw a group of people waiting for them outside.

The leader was none other than Matsushita Shinichi.

“Ms. Zi, welcome to Japan.” Matsushita Shinichi greeted her with a fluent smile in Chinese, shaking her hand and exchanging pleasantries.

Zi Yanran offered a faint smile in return. “I hope our cooperation this time will be smooth and pleasant.”
