Chapter 50: The Duty of the Saintess!

After hearing the knights’ description, Hespie’s heart surged like raging waves, unable to calm down any longer.

That golden-haired little girl was clearly the Blood Race Demon King from 30 years ago.

Eve didn’t know, but Hespie remembered it vividly.

Back then, how many powerful titled knights had died at the hands of that Blood Race Demon King!

The records stated seven, but in reality, no fewer than fifteen titled knights had died because of her.

At that time, Hespie himself had only been a Radiant Knight.

As the Pope had said, Alice was at the Saint rank but unable to use holy energy.

Hespie believed there was an 80% chance he could ambush her successfully and rise to glory once again.

But if that Blood Race Demon King had truly returned, then he believed he would have no choice but to flee.

The gap in strength was far too great.

The mountains of corpses back then were the best proof.

Even after being pierced by the holy artifact, the Holy Ring: Heavenly Punishment, for over 24 hours, she had only seemed to be killed.

What did he, Hespie, have to rely on to get involved in something like this?

So he immediately tried to stop Eve’s actions.

If Eve wanted to rush to her death like the previous two Sword Saintesses, that was her choice.

But the cunning Hespie had no such intention.

Eve glanced at the Dark Night Knight behind her, then at the two hesitant knights.

She drew the longsword at her waist, her gaze firm and unquestionable.

Golden energy surged around her body, her aura rising sharply, and her beige skirt fluttered in the wind.

“I, Eve, chosen by my lord and selected by the Holy Church as the Sword Saintess, must use the sword in my hand to eliminate all evil in the name of my lord!”

“How can I ignore such a matter!”

“Come, take me to the Radiant Knight.”

Eve’s face was both heroic and pure, and her words left the two knights unable to refuse.

They quickly stood at attention and saluted.

“Yes, Sword Saintess!”

Hespie watched as Eve followed the two knights away, a fierce glint flashing across his face.

The thin sword hidden beneath his luxurious clothing emitted a faint dark blue glow.

“Tch! A useless saintess without even a holy artifact.”

“Just wait a little longer.”

“When you die at the hands of little Alice… that will be my time to act.”

Suppressing his anger and malice, Hespie’s expression returned to normal as he followed behind them.

.

.

In front of a small town not far from Green City, two massive black serpents faced over a dozen knights with grim expressions.

More than thirty knights lay on the ground nearby, their fates unknown.

Radiant Knight Aisor’s golden armor was already battered and worn.

Clear wounds covered his legs and arms, and blood and sweat had soaked the clothes beneath his armor.

Holding his greatsword, he gathered icy energy upon it and seized the opportunity to charge toward one of the serpents over ten meters away.

Ssssh—

Just as Aisor got within ten meters, the black serpent spewed a dense black mist from its mouth, instantly engulfing him.

“Lord Radiant Knight!”

“Charge! Give it everything!”

The remaining knights roared in anger upon seeing Aisor swallowed by the black mist, his fate unknown.

They rushed toward the serpents without hesitation.

At this moment, life and death no longer seemed important.

Even knowing they were no match, they charged forward just like Aisor.

“Don’t come closer!”

Just as they had taken a few steps, a shout came from within the black mist, forcing them to stop.

“It’s Lord Aisor!”

“He’s still alive!”

“Glory eternal! Lord Aisor will win!”

Amid their excitement, Aisor’s voice rang out again.

“Earth Rank: Domain of Extreme Frost!”

A faint blue light flashed within the black mist.

Then, crystalline cold energy burst outward, spreading in all directions.

The ground froze layer by layer, and icy fog filled the air, dispersing the black mist.

At the same time, the extreme cold enveloped the two serpents, encasing them in thick ice and immobilizing them completely.

The surrounding knights instinctively stepped back.

Their limbs stiffened from the cold, their swords hard to grip, and every breath turned into white mist.

“Lord Aisor will win!”

“Radiant Knight will win!”

“May our lord’s glory endure forever!”

The cold could not suppress the burning passion in their hearts.

They raised their greatswords high and cheered loudly for the knight they admired.

At this moment, Aisor knelt on one knee within the ice, looking up at the frozen serpents.

His face showed unwavering determination.

He pulled his greatsword from the ground and leapt toward the serpent’s head.

Holding the sword with both hands mid-air, he condensed even more icy energy into it.

“Die!”

“I will avenge the knights!”

His eyes were wide with fury as the blade, now over three meters long from condensed frost, slashed down toward the serpent’s head.

“Avenge the knights!”

“Kill the beast!”

The surrounding knights were stirred by his resolve.

They charged forward again, no longer fearing the cold.

But something unexpected happened.

Crack—crack—

Crash—

The thick ice surrounding the serpent suddenly shattered.

Its massive tail swept through the charging knights, sending them flying with screams.

At the same time, the other serpent lunged from behind, wrapping its tail around Aisor mid-air and dragging him in front of its head.

“Ah—!”

Aisor struggled desperately, shouting, but his strength was no match for the serpent.

Even at the same rank, the physical strength of humans was far inferior to magical beasts.

Unable to break free, Aisor glared at the serpent as its massive heads hissed, foul breath washing over him.

He held his breath and stared unflinchingly.

He was the strongest knight in Green City.

If he could not stop them, the other knights would not survive.

No.

No!

Even if I die, I will stop you!

He stopped struggling, clenched his lips, and roared.

“Then let’s die together—Extreme Frost Storm!”

This was a technique that burned his life force, compressing all his energy into a single explosive release.

Even if it could not kill the serpents, it would surely gravely injure them.

“Hahaha, let’s die together!”

As long as he could protect the knights, it was worth it.

Aisor looked into the serpent’s crimson eyes, pride shining in his own.

He was Radiant Knight Aisor.

Even in death, he would not let them pass!

But at that moment, the energy he had been gathering suddenly stalled.

It could no longer be condensed.

Before he could react, a calm voice sounded beside him.

“Rest for now. Leave this to me.”

With a soft whisper from a girl, the crushing pressure around him vanished.

His body began to fall.

In his vision appeared a girl in a beige dress with a single ponytail, holding a sword in one hand as she charged toward the serpents.

“Be careful! Those are Earth-rank magical beasts!”

But before he finished speaking, he was stunned.

The girl moved at incredible speed.

She showed no fear as the serpent lunged at her.

With a flash of her silver sword, a golden light flickered across the serpent’s head.

Without even looking back, she continued toward the second serpent.

Slash—

Thud—

The serpent’s head was cleanly severed, falling heavily to the ground.

Green blood gushed out like a river, forcing Aisor to scramble backward in shock.

The second serpent roared in fury, spewing black mist and lashing its tail wildly.

But the girl’s speed did not slow at all.

She dashed through the mist, effortlessly dodging every strike.

Each flash of her blade cut away large portions of the serpent’s body.

Green blood sprayed everywhere like rain.

Yet not a single drop stained her beige dress.

In an instant, she appeared behind the fleeing serpent.

With another flash of golden light, the serpent’s body was sliced cleanly in half.

It died instantly.

Aisor stared at the girl standing in a sea of green blood, yet untouched by it.

He opened his mouth slightly, admiration filling his eyes.

“This… this girl…”

“Who is she?”

At that moment, the other knights finally caught up and heard his words.

“It’s the Sword Saintess—Lady Eve!”

.

Eve turned back, sheathing her silver sword.

Looking at the dozens of fallen knights around her, she pressed her lips together tightly.

Her brows furrowed deeply, her face filled with guilt.

“I… still…”

“Arrived too late…”
