Chapter 52: The MV’s Invisible Wings

Even without actively seeking information, Lin Ziyao easily learned the full extent of the commotion Zhang Ming’s speech at *The Singer’s* press conference had caused from various online articles.

It was safe to say she had been caught in the crossfire this time, inadvertently harmed by Zhang Ming.

Years of experience had taught her that the best approach in such situations was to remain calm and observe. Moreover, as her manager, Li Xinan was no pushover; she swiftly arranged for her staff to constantly monitor public opinion, ensuring the flames wouldn’t reach them.

As a newcomer who had just begun to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry, it was truly unsuitable to get entangled in such a storm. Developing quietly was the most crucial task at hand.

Thanks to Li Xinan’s efforts, although Lin Ziyao’s Weibo comment section still contained many pleas for her to participate in *The Singer’s*, at least the basic narrative hadn’t been twisted, remaining focused on discussing Lin Ziyao herself.

“You’ve worked hard these past few days, Manager Nan!”

Closing the screen after self-searching her official Weibo with a burner account, Lin Ziyao placed her phone back into her handbag. She sat in the back seat of the commercial van, chatting idly with Li Xinan beside her.

Several days had passed since the filming of *Star’s Week* concluded. The post-production work for the remaining episodes had been completed faster than Director Chen had anticipated, which meant the MV shoot was now ahead of schedule.

They were currently on their way to the villa to meet with Director Chen, preparing to finalize the MV’s script together. Tomorrow, they would officially head to the MV’s filming location.

“Managing comments on one’s own comment section is merely a basic skill for a manager.”

Li Xinan set down her tablet, observing the recent surge in Lin Ziyao’s followers. Although the second episode wouldn’t air until the day after tomorrow, ever since the first episode broadcast, the number of followers on the studio’s Weibo account had reached an astonishing level.

Despite her newfound success, Lin Ziyao showed no hint of a celebrity’s arrogance, maintaining her gentle demeanor. This was a rare and precious quality, remarkably similar to Qin Yu.

“I’ve received several invitations for variety shows. I wonder if you’re interested in participating?” Li Xinan brought up the numerous invitations sent to the studio by various production teams and handed her the tablet.

Lin Ziyao took it, eager to look through them. However, as she read, her brows furrowed, and a troubled expression crossed her face.

There were many types of variety show invitations: comedy, detective, and even obstacle course shows had sent her offers.

She glanced at her slender arms and legs. Her strength was currently even less than that of an average girl; she estimated she wouldn’t even pass the first stage of an obstacle course variety show.

“Manager Nan, please decline all these shows for me,” she said with a wry smile, returning the tablet to Li Xinan.

“Actually, the moment I saw them, I figured you wouldn’t be interested,” Li Xinan replied, taking it back and teasing Lin Ziyao. “But just in case, I still had to show you. Who knows, maybe something would catch your eye?”

Just as she finished speaking, the car pulled up to the villa’s entrance. Hearing the commotion, Director Chen came out to greet them.

“Welcome, welcome!” Director Chen hurried to meet Lin Ziyao.

Upon seeing Director Chen, she walked to the side with a clear look of distaste and asked, “Director Chen, what exactly have you been doing these past few days?”

Director Chen still looked as though he hadn’t slept, as if he paid no mind to his appearance whenever he wasn’t actively filming. A strong mixture of tobacco and coffee fumes wafted from him, continuously reaching Lin Ziyao’s position. She instinctively took another step back, increasing the distance between them.

She hadn’t realized before how unpleasant the smell of tobacco was, but now her heightened senses couldn’t tolerate even the slightest irritation.

“I’ve been busy with editing and post-production these past few days. We’ve even been relying solely on takeout for our meals.”

Lin Ziyao’s gaze fell upon the villa’s trash can, which was overflowing with various takeout containers. This circumstantial evidence confirmed Director Chen’s words.

Following Director Chen into the villa, Lin Ziyao resettled on the living room sofa. Last time, Qin Yu had been sitting beside her, but this time, her side was empty. Thinking of Qin Yu, she felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of loss.

“Now, let’s discuss serious matters.”

After serving tea to both of them, Director Chen sat down and began.

“I have an idea for this MV shoot…”

Director Chen truly lived up to his background as an MV director. His understanding of the song and its visual representation shared a fundamentally similar approach to the MV Lin Ziyao had seen in her previous life. Coupled with her own desire to recreate the MV for *Invisible Wings* from her past life, the two of them instantly clicked, quickly finalizing the MV’s core concept.

“Ziyao, if I didn’t know the MV hadn’t been filmed yet, I’d think you already had the finished product in your mind,” Director Chen joked, holding the initial draft of the MV script they had discussed together.

To this, she could only offer a vague smile. After all, she couldn’t exactly tell Director Chen that there really was an MV already complete in her mind.

During the process of Director Chen finalizing the main concept and script, she offered many suggestions. Each suggestion she made gave Director Chen a feeling of clarity, as if a fog had lifted.

‘Could it be that she had already envisioned how the MV should be filmed when she wrote this song?’

Director Chen was stunned by this sudden thought. If Lin Ziyao had indeed thought through the entire MV’s filming process, then only the word ‘genius’ could describe her performance.

Soon, Director Chen dismissed this exaggerated notion from his mind.

“It’s getting late, Director Chen. We should be going.”

The sun outside had already reached its zenith, and it was time for Lin Ziyao to go to the hospital to have dinner with her grandmother. She bid Director Chen farewell.

Ever since she returned from recording the show, she had gone to the hospital every day to share a meal with her grandmother. Sometimes she cooked and brought food, and other times they ate the meals ordered from the hospital.

“Manager Nan, you can drop me off here.”

Donning her hat and sunglasses, she stepped into the elevator under Li Xinan’s watchful gaze. With the broadcast of her songs and programs, many people had come to know the name Lin Ziyao.

She had learned her lesson after one incident where she forgot to wear sunglasses and was surrounded by fans for half an hour. Now, she always carried a handbag when she went out, ensuring it contained at least a pair of sunglasses, even if she didn’t have a hat.

Meanwhile, Li Xinan closed the car door and received a call from the studio.

Manager Nan, this is bad. The public opinion regarding *The Singer’s* is starting to go in the wrong direction. Someone is deliberately trying to stir up trouble and direct it towards us.

The staff member remaining at the studio anxiously reported to Li Xinan over the phone that a new wave of public opinion had begun on Weibo this morning, escalating rapidly and threatening to spread throughout the entire music industry.
