Chapter 59: Strategic Observations and Playful Banter

He Yao was eager to leave, not because she was afraid of being captured, but because she needed to transform back into the magical girl, Ink Crystal, and retrieve the small cake she and Teacher Lin were supposed to share.

After that, she planned to return to the perfect observation spot, the rooftop of the teaching building, to monitor the activities on the playground below.

This strategy was tailored to the Masked People’s incredibly high speed of movement.

If they were too close, their movements would seem like teleportation. However, Teacher Lin, as Kamen Rider or the transformed oddball, appeared to possess dynamic vision capable of tracking their actions.

In summary, observing the scene from the rooftop was a great idea. Whenever the Masked People were up to something, their movements would be easily detectable.

Using Ink Crystal’s intellect, she reasoned that if the Masked People were to appear during the sports meet, they might target a few specific individuals.

Pei Yueming and Teacher Lin—both were captured by the Tiger Mask. From a habitual mindset, they seemed like easy targets, and recapturing them wasn’t impossible.

Another potential target was herself.

According to Teacher Lin, the Ox Mask seemed to be a scientist. It was crucial to assume they had the ability to steal information. Based on this, she was an ideal capture, though she wasn’t sure if they knew her magical girl identity. Since the Tiger Mask had captured Pei Yueming, it was safe to assume they didn’t know about the magical girls.

As the son of the wealthy He family, she could also be a target.

To test this, she intentionally walked around the playground in her true identity, but no one seemed to follow or attack her.

Another potential target was… Si Kou Ting.

Honestly, He Yao didn’t have a strong impression of this girl.

Though Pei Yueming mentioned she was one of the top ten school beauties and had strong combat skills, Ink Crystal saw her as no different from the daughters of many officials she had met.

She was always polite, with a fake smile plastered on her face, the kind of girl often praised as ‘someone else’s child.’

There was nothing remarkable about her. Ink Crystal had no interest in such falsities and paid little attention to her.

But today was different.

Si Kou Ting was just a minor issue in the school, but her father, the deputy mayor, was present at the academy. Given that Carnelian was also there, it seemed unlikely they weren’t protecting the deputy mayor.

If she were a Masked Person, she would target Si Kou Ting.

After all, Si Kou Ting was likely the most prominent figure in the school besides the deputy mayor and the principal. If someone wanted to achieve a certain goal, capturing her for leverage would make sense.

Of course, Carnelian might be keeping an eye on Si Kou Ting too.

But compared to the deputy mayor and the principal, Si Kou Ting had less robust protection.

Therefore, Ink Crystal decided to keep a closer watch on her. As for the others, didn’t they have Teacher Lin? Plus, Pei Yueming and Liu Yun could transform into magical girls. If a battle broke out, four magical girls and one Kamen Rider would suddenly appear. Even if all the Masked People showed up, they might still stand a chance!

Thinking this, she felt somewhat relieved.

Lin Han was contentedly savoring his matcha cake.

‘By the way, Teacher Lin, why haven’t you been doing your counseling work lately?’

Lin Han put down his cake: ‘Because a new full-time counselor has joined recently. He handles most of the work since I’m part-time.’

‘In that case, isn’t your income lower?’

‘That’s why I agreed to be your sparring partner!’

Ink Crystal pondered: ‘How about this? When I’m fighting monsters or demons, you join me. I’ll split the reward money with you. That way, you won’t be short on cash.’

She offered another suggestion: ‘With your help, I can take on stronger monsters. My reputation as a magical girl will rise, and so will my own strength. It’s like you’re helping me level up by fighting stronger enemies.’

‘That’s a good idea.’

Lin Han agreed. He didn’t intend to get involved, but with his two students as magical girls and his colleague also a magical girl, he couldn’t just stand by.

In the past, when he noticed some magical girls struggling, he would secretly lend a hand.

Those incidents weren’t worth mentioning.

He had already decided to move on from his past and become a teacher. It was only recently that he completed the Kamen Rider suit and mask, allowing him to appear in public.

Previously, he acted in secret, which wasn’t entirely safe for preserving his identity. It was a bit contradictory, but he had worked hard, investing all his monthly income into it.

‘Then it’s settled.’

Ink Crystal smiled: ‘By the way, Si Kou Ting is quite something, and so is Ye Liuyun. Both made it to the top eight.’

She sighed: ‘Teacher Liu is in there too. I really want to see how strong Ye Liuyun is. He might not outperform me in exams, but in combat, he’d definitely beat me.’

‘But I heard that this morning, Ye Liuyun directly challenged Pei Yueming, saying he wanted you to come. He seems to have high hopes for you.’

Ink Crystal spread her hands: ‘Teacher, you’re saying he can’t beat me in exams and wants to prove himself in combat. But honestly, I think he’s just a typical arrogant young genius. His pride won’t let him lose. My combat skills aren’t anywhere near yours. If the battle moved to the bedroom, I might stand a chance.’

Lin Han’s face turned red: ‘You talk as if you have experience.’

‘But if it were in the bedroom, you couldn’t fight back, right? You’d be in all sorts of trouble.’

Her smile was genuine, not forced.

‘Do you think about that all the time?’

Hey~ Teacher, I’m a healthy high school student. If I didn’t think about those things, that would be strange! Actually, if I were you, with someone like Teacher Liu around, I’d go for it without hesitation. Then we could talk about whether to marry her. We’re all adults; it’s not like having s*x means you have to be responsible.’

Lin Han stood up and pinched Ink Crystal’s head: ‘You little brat, where did you get that confidence to talk about adults?’

‘Whoops, my bad!’

Ink Crystal quickly apologized, knowing she was no match for Lin Han.

Lin Han realized that Ink Crystal, or rather He Yao, was incredibly cheeky.

He hadn’t noticed it before because she was always reading novels, watching anime, or tinkering with her motorcycle.

But since she became the magical girl Ink Crystal, she hardly read novels or watched anime anymore. She only occasionally played games, seemingly because she was the ‘alliance leader’ and didn’t want her alliance to disband.

Lately, she seemed to value real-life experiences more.

That’s why she revealed her identity as a wealthy heiress and formed a contractual boyfriend relationship with Pei Yueming. She even discovered that as Ink Crystal, he couldn’t touch her.

So, she felt free to tease him without restraint.

He understood that boys sometimes liked to act cheeky.

It was like when boys in elementary school would untie girls’ bra straps. Those boys weren’t necessarily perverts; they often didn’t understand what they were doing. They just liked seeing girls get angry.

Girls matured earlier and usually had a sense of gender by then, finding such behavior annoying.

This was why many childhood friends didn’t end up together. Boys thought their playfulness showed closeness, but girls saw it as harassment. Their perceptions were entirely different.

But recently, Ink Crystal had become bolder.

Whenever she transformed, she would tease him shamelessly, saying whatever came to mind.

Did she really think he wouldn’t do anything?

Well, Lin Han couldn’t do anything.

His past actions with Pei Yueming already made him feel guilty. Could he do something to Ink Crystal? Would he still be human then?

Thinking this, he could only give up.

‘You… don’t do this to others, okay? If another man saw you like this, they might misinterpret your intentions. I only know your identity, but if you act this way with other men, they really might get the wrong idea.’

Ink Crystal rolled her eyes at Lin Han: ‘Do you think I’m that kind of person? I don’t have the nerve to joke around with strangers like that: I don’t engage in much conversation with them.’

‘Well…’
