Chapter 6: A Perfect Disguise

“Let’s go! Hurry up and follow!”

Watching Black Cat leap two or three meters and clear the bathroom stall door, Lin Qingqiu stood frozen. She looked down at the little skirt she was wearing.

She tugged uneasily at the stockings on her thighs, unsure what to do. After hesitating, she made up her mind and walked out the door.

It’s fine. School is in session now. There won’t be many students or teachers around.

Besides, the current her had nothing in common with the usual cold, unapproachable guy.

Even if she ran around naked, no one would connect her to Lin Qingqiu.

Realizing this, Lin Qingqiu’s always tense face relaxed a bit. Her steps out of the bathroom became noticeably lighter.

Her heart almost jumped out of her chest. Her foot froze mid-step, and her nervous eyes widened.

“You skipped class and didn’t even call me.”

Can you not pause like that when you talk?!

Lin Qingqiu rolled her eyes and quickly fled the restroom.

She knew perfectly well that her magical girl form and her everyday boy self had no resemblance at all. Still, running into an acquaintance right after leaving, her terrible nerves almost collapsed.

Walking through the teaching building as a girl, Lin Qingqiu couldn’t stop being paranoid. She glanced left and right, and whenever she saw someone, she lowered her head and hurried past.

“Hey! You girl! Running around during class!”

Lin Qingqiu froze and glanced back. It was the teacher from the disciplinary office known as Brother Wei. Her little heart trembled, and she ran without looking back.

There were plenty of slackers in vocational school, but Brother Wei could make them submit willingly and call him “Brother.”

If he caught her, it definitely wouldn’t end well!

Once she started moving, Lin Qingqiu realized how much power this magical girl’s petite body, thin arms and legs could unleash.

She ran like the wind. Her body obeyed like never before. Any move she could imagine, she could perform. Even if she accidentally bumped a wall corner, she only felt slight pain, and her fair skin wouldn’t easily bruise.

After running all the way to the school wall, she was only slightly out of breath. Her racing heart calmed within minutes.

She wiped her forehead, though there was no sweat. Lin Qingqiu was no longer her usual cold self. She leaped up and easily vaulted over the nearly three-meter-high wall.

Her fair face was flushed red, and her eyes sparkled with excitement.

“So strong~”

As a shut-in who nearly died running a thousand meters, such an agile body made it impossible to hold back her excitement.

Lin Qingqiu discovered she didn’t hate exercise. She just hated the negative buffs after exercising: being drenched in sweat, gasping for air, feeling weak all over, and having sore legs the next day.

Sitting on top of the wall, she looked at Brother Wei still chasing her in the distance. She burst out laughing, raised a hand high to wave goodbye, and jumped down without looking back.

“Which class are you in!”

From the other side of the wall, she could hear Brother Wei’s furious question. Lin Qingqiu couldn’t be bothered to answer. She ran in the direction of the miasma.

“Come find me~” she muttered happily under her breath. “If you can find me, then you’re really something…”

But then she worried. What if Brother Wei actually checked the surveillance outside the bathroom and found something?

“He definitely won’t think it’s the same person.”

Brother Wei was busy catching smokers and inspecting dorms every day. How would he have time to obsess over her?

“Qingqiu! Here!”

Before she had run a few hundred meters, Black Cat suddenly darted out and blocked Lin Qingqiu’s path.

“Where?”

“It’s inside this neighborhood. I already found it. It really is just a corruption core.” Black Cat stood up proudly, hands on hips. “I checked the surroundings too. No sign of demons.”

“Hmm…”

Lin Qingqiu frowned. “There won’t be any surprises, right?”

Right now, she hadn’t received the future Valkyrie’s inheritance. If she ran into a demon, she wouldn’t stand a chance.

“I guarantee it!”

“Fine, take me there. Let’s finish this quickly. There won’t be a next time.” She complained, “I don’t want to turn into a girl. Isn’t there any way I can use magic without my body being remodeled?”

“But if you don’t turn into a girl, how are you supposed to save the world?”

“Can you stop clinging to that obviously unreliable plan? What the hell, making me turn into a girl and date monsters.”

Black Cat suddenly stopped and turned around in surprise, looking at the small face full of dissatisfaction.

Lin Qingqiu was stunned too. “What’s wrong?”

“You seem like a different person. You’re talking a lot more.” Black Cat looked her up and down. “Did becoming a girl make you let loose?”

They hadn’t known each other long, but she had still left Black Cat with the impression of being introverted, quiet, always tense-faced, unwilling to express emotions. Yet after only a short while apart, she was talkative and lively, and her steps even seemed lighter.

“Mind your own business…”

Lin Qingqiu turned her head away, embarrassed cheeks flushing red.

It was true, just as Black Cat said. She had let loose a bit. All the inner feelings she usually suppressed were released after transforming into a magical girl.

No one knew her anyway, and no one would connect her to her usual self.

“Hurry up and take me to the corruption core.”

“Yes, yes~”

Black Cat walked with elegant cat steps, trotting into the neighborhood.

It was a workday, so there weren’t many pedestrians in the neighborhood. But at the gate, security guards and a few mothers with children could still be seen. As soon as Lin Qingqiu entered the neighborhood, she drew the eyes of passersby.

The cute dress was eye-catching enough, especially on a silver-haired girl as delicate and pretty as a doll.

“Whose little girl is that? So pretty~”

She could vaguely hear those mothers praising her in low voices, but Lin Qingqiu couldn’t handle it. A blush rose on her thin face. Her arms stiffened at her sides, and she lowered her head, fleeing with stiff, hurried steps.

She had never been comfortable with attention. Even being called on by a teacher in class made her blush.

But being praised felt so good~

Too bad they praised her as pretty, not handsome…
