Chapter 57: The Evolution of Worlds: An Author’s Vision

Magic Forest stood as one of the earliest online games Fox-chan had ever played, a title that lingered in their memory due to the sheer duration and profound impact it had.

Even now, some of its core mechanics and designs retain a remarkable uniqueness.

Previously, discussions had circulated online regarding the revival of Magic Forest.

Regrettably, a significant portion of its original data had been lost, rendering the reconstruction process exceedingly arduous.

Compounding this difficulty was the entirely voluntary nature of the endeavor, purely a labor of love (TL Note: A Chinese idiom, ‘yòng ài fādiàn,’ meaning to work or create out of pure passion or interest, without monetary compensation).

Undoubtedly, with the proliferation of excellent new games, people’s attention has naturally shifted away from these older titles.

Fox-chan, while perhaps not an exceptionally skilled gamer, has nevertheless engaged with a vast array of games firsthand, proving to be far from a mere ‘cloud player’ (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘yún wánjiā,’ referring to someone who experiences games primarily through watching others play, such as via streams or videos, rather than playing them personally).

Yet, they have also ‘cloud played’ a fair number of titles.

After all, an individual’s energy and financial resources are finite; some games prove too time-intensive, or simply inconvenient for personal engagement, leaving no option but to experience them through livestreams and videos.

For the initial five games, Fox-chan intends to implement a degree of ‘magical modification’ (TL Note: A term implying extensive, often fantastical, customization or alteration) upon their original frameworks.

For instance, in the battle royale game featured in the prologue, every participant possesses ‘immortal’ (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘shénxiān,’ used here to describe god-like abilities or cheats) skills, essentially akin to real-life hacking.

Another example can be found in the first volume’s ‘Intriguing Dragon-Slaying Journey,’ where secret missions and similar elements are woven in specifically to imbue the entire novel with the feel of an infinite flow (TL Note: A genre where protagonists travel through various distinct worlds or scenarios) story, rather than a straightforward online game novel.

Initially, when Fox-chan first uploaded this book, they had categorized it under ‘Adventure,’ firmly believing it to be an infinite flow novel.

However, following the editorial review, it was reclassified into the ‘Game’ category.

Perhaps the initial upload, comprising only the first two chapters of the battle royale arc, led to the editor’s misunderstanding.

Regardless, it ultimately matters little, as the novel undeniably revolves around games.

From that perspective, its placement within the ‘Game’ category remains perfectly acceptable.

Subsequent chapters by Fox-chan will also gravitate towards narratives rich in psychological strategy, given that each new world necessitates a different game.

It would be impractical, not to mention beyond Fox-chan’s expertise, to meticulously enumerate every piece of game data; indeed, a heavy reliance on data streams (TL Note: Referring to extensive statistical breakdowns or detailed numerical systems within a game’s description) is not their strong suit.

Thus, following the initial five games, the protagonist will ascend into a higher-tier game world—a realm that will likely astonish everyone even further.

I sincerely hope you all eagerly anticipate what’s to come!
