“Hula hula, hey!” The adorable Mountain Rabbit bustled nearby, riding Mr. Frog as it continuously darted back and forth, launching attacks.Though its damage was comically negligible, its cuteness remained undeniable.
“Tell me, you’re a guy, aren’t you? I’m pretty sure I remember correctly,” Black Child remarked with a disdainful tone, swinging the scythe in his hand. “What’s gotten into you?
Just because you’re playing Mountain Rabbit, you suddenly feel the urge to act so adorable?
Mountain Rabbit is female, but you’re a man!
What the hell are you acting cute for?
And ‘hula hula’? It’s making me sick, ugh!”
“Damn it, do you think I *want* to be like this?” Mountain Rabbit cursed, seething with anger. “If I don’t speak for a certain period, this body automatically utters these words and performs these actions!
Don’t any of you feel this way when you play?”
“Well then, why don’t *I* spout nonsense like you do?” Black Child challenged, his gaze fixed on Mountain Rabbit. “Look, I’m not talking, and I’m certainly not acting cute *like you*!”
He deliberately re-emphasized the phrase ‘like you’ several times.
“Damn it, your Black Child is a ‘three-no’ character (TL Note: Refers to a character archetype typically characterized by a lack of emotion, desire, and often speech), what’s there to act cute about?
Even if you stood still all day, Black Child wouldn’t make a single peep!” The player behind Mountain Rabbit was genuinely arrogant and quick-tempered, always ready to retort to any provocation. “How dare you, a Shikigami from whom you can’t even beat a fart out with three sticks, compare yourself to me!”
“Hey, you’re not allowed to slander Black Child like that!
Even if you’re currently the cutest Mountain Rabbit in the world, you can’t talk about Black Child that way!” Great Tengu interjected, having just unleashed a gust of wind, immediately joining the fray.
It was clear that as an Onmyoji (Game) player, she harbored a deep affection for every Shikigami.
“I’ll have my ultimate skill at level six, but it seems pretty useless, doesn’t it?” Kiyohime sighed, shaking her head in resignation. “If I’d known it was this kind of game mode, why on earth would anyone pick Kiyohime?
Two of her four skills are completely ineffective against minions.”
“Wait, wait, wait, my ultimate should be really useful, right?
It deals continuous damage in an area, so clearing minions should be fast, shouldn’t it?” Hearing Kiyohime’s words, Great Tengu hastily glanced at her own skill bar, speaking with urgency. “‘Feathered Storm,’ that’s what it’s called, right?
I recall it having the same name in Onmyoji (Game).”
For some inexplicable reason, Wang Tianming felt a peculiar… strangeness.
Perhaps it was a sixth sense, yet Wang Tianming was not a woman, and Pipe Fox was also a male Shikigami, so whether this intuition would prove accurate remained to be seen.
Wang Tianming had an insistent feeling that something was about to happen.
This was a premonition, a skill particularly honed in battle-hardened veterans who could sense danger more acutely before it manifested.
“Something… feels off.
It feels like something is coming.” Before Wang Tianming could voice his own thoughts, someone else preempted him, uttering the very same words.
By the sound of it, the speaker was none other than the previously arrogant Mountain Rabbit.
“Heh heh,” Black Child scoffed with disdain. “Weren’t you acting all high and mighty before?
Now you’re suddenly scared? Chickened out?
How come *I* don’t feel anything coming?
Ah, haha, I know! You must be getting your ‘big aunt’ (TL Note: A Chinese slang term for menstruation), huh?
Hahahaha, after all, Mountain Rabbit is a girl!”
Great Tengu watched Black Child with a hint of anger.
As the sole female player among the five, she was likely the only one who truly understood the discomfort of ‘the big aunt.’ Such subtly sexist remarks left her deeply displeased with Black Child’s player.
Kiyohime, meanwhile, remained silent.
She seemed to vaguely sense that something was amiss but, uncertain, simply continued farming minions.
Fortunately, despite her skills not being ideal for clearing waves, the absence of enemy Shikigami interference allowed her to steadily secure last hits and develop her character well.
Wang Tianming could now, with reasonable certainty, conclude one thing: something truly *was* coming!
The ability to sense danger wasn’t exclusive to battle-hardened veterans; even small forest animals possessed it.
Pipe Fox qualified as such, and so did Mountain Rabbit.
With two ‘small animals’ sensing danger, the probability of genuine peril was exceedingly high!
