You despicable natives, just you wait. I will have my revenge.

‘Deep within an alley, the Stowaway, rattling her shackles with a clanging clamor, seethed inwardly.’

“There’s no point in running any further. We’ve already found you.” As the Stowaway prepared to rest, Li Sijia, clutching the silken threads wrapped around the Stowaway’s ankles, and Lu Ren stood at opposite ends of the alley, their gazes fixed intently upon her.

“Are you rats, sniffing out my scent? How did you find me so quickly!” The Stowaway roared in fury, watching the two figures draw ever closer.

“Oh, we’re hardly rats. You’re the one who fits that description.” Lu Ren’s muscles began to swell, transforming him into a giant slightly smaller than before, yet still towering at two meters.

‘Shrouded by the looming shadow, the Stowaway’s heart screamed in despair.’

Yet, a soft murmur ignited a flicker of hope within the Stowaway’s breast.

“Huh? Is this the place? Where’s that person?”

A bald Young Man, his clothes somewhat tattered, stood at the alley entrance where Lu Ren was positioned.

“Sir! Save me!” The Stowaway bellowed, directing her plea towards the Young Man behind Lu Ren.

Qi Lin, who had been glancing left and right in search of the fugitive, heard a sound from behind him. With a casual curiosity, enduring the ringing in his ears, he turned around—and instantly regretted it.

Upon seeing the two-meter-tall ‘small giant’ standing in the alley, Qi Lin, who barely reached 1.6 meters, gasped in astonishment: “Holy hell! So tall!”

Hearing Qi Lin’s exclamation, Lu Ren and his companion, who had already grown wary when the Stowaway cried for help, immediately shifted their gaze towards the source of the startled sound.

Under the scrutiny of those in the alley, Qi Lin felt a pang of awkwardness, though it dissipated the very next second.

For…

“Boss, save me! I swear I’ll never leave the team on my own again!”

Enduring the Young Man’s scarlet gaze, the Stowaway spoke once more.

Hearing the Stowaway’s words, Qi Lin peered through the gap Lu Ren’s body afforded him. Upon realizing it was the very person he sought to apprehend, he prepared to explain himself.

Before Qi Lin could even utter a word, the sharp-eyed Li Sijia noticed his bared fangs and swiftly cut him off.

“He’s a vampire!”

Hearing Li Sijia’s declaration, Lu Ren’s gaze turned grave as he looked at Qi Lin. A vampire! There truly was an unregistered vampire in this area! Zhao Suyan’s earlier words had proven true, though there was a slight discrepancy from what the Stowaway had initially claimed: this vampire was clearly allied with her.

No wonder she had been so fearful; it seemed she had deserted her group and feared retribution from this vampire.

Qi Lin, sensing the sudden shift in atmosphere, felt a tremor of panic. ‘This… this situation feels quite wrong!’

“Um, well, you see, could you perhaps let me say something?” Qi Lin stammered, rushing his words.

Seeing Qi Lin attempt to explain, the Stowaway gritted her teeth, making a desperate gamble. “Boss, don’t say anything more! Hurry and save me!”

“No, I’m not her boss! I’m just passing by, please listen to me…”

“Boss, I understand! It must be about that item, isn’t it? Don’t worry, if you save me this time, I’ll definitely return it to you!”

Listening to the exchange between Qi Lin and the Stowaway, Lu Ren and Li Sijia exchanged bewildered glances.

“…Regardless, take them back to the bureau for questioning!” Lu Ren declared. Whether the Stowaway’s words were truth or falsehood, the undeniable fact remained: an unregistered vampire had appeared in this region. Bringing both of them back was, undoubtedly, the best course of action.

“I’ll leave him to you. I’ll keep an eye on the Stowaway,” Li Sijia affirmed, understanding his unspoken command.

“Understood!”

Lu Ren nodded, then surged forward with sudden force.

Seeing the small giant charging towards him, Qi Lin cursed inwardly, then immediately turned and fled.

The Stowaway, still seated on the ground, felt a surge of elation at the sight, but then, noticing the native still beside her, her heart sank once more into despair. She had not escaped the fate of being captured by the natives, and it seemed… she had also incurred the wrath of a vampire.

“Hey, hey, Uncle, I’m really not her boss! Can’t you just let me go?”

As Lu Ren pursued him, Qi Lin spoke with earnest sincerity.

“Absolutely not!” Lu Ren retorted, his sharp eyes blazing with stern refusal.

Resigned, Qi Lin could only continue to run. As for resisting… how could he, a mere novice, having been a vampire for only a single day, possibly stand against a burly man who was clearly no ordinary human?

‘What rotten luck. I knew I shouldn’t have run out. I thought that woman was a fugitive… Oh, she *is* a fugitive, so that’s fine then.’ In any case, he never should have come out in the first place. Overwhelmed with despair, Qi Lin could only run with all his might.

Their chase and flight led them back to Central Park.

Having discerned their destination, Lu Ren had already notified Zhao Suyan to await them at the inevitable choke point: the park’s main entrance.

Qi Lin bolted through the park’s main gate, then abruptly skidded to a halt. Before him stood a figure, glaring with arms crossed, surrounded by a dozen daggers hovering ominously in the air.

Knowing escape was futile, Qi Lin internally cursed the fugitive who had landed him in this predicament hundreds of times over.

“Unregistered vampire, surrender now! You have nowhere left to run.”

Having arrived at the park, Lu Ren, his muscles once again swollen to a height of seven meters, regarded Qi Lin with a low, rumbling voice.

“Uncles, I truly am not—I’m not the boss of the person you’re chasing!” A frustrated Qi Lin shouted, clawing at his bald head.

Hearing his protest, Lu Ren replied, “Whether you are or not, coming with us now is your best option.”

At this, Qi Lin fell silent. To go or not to go, that was the question.

“I… Fine, I’ll go with you!”

After a moment, Qi Lin made his choice. After all, if he didn’t clear up this misunderstanding, his future might be bleak. Their vigilant stares alone were enough to convey that. In short, this wasn’t surrender; this was a strategic consideration for his future.

“A wise decision!” From a distance, Zhao Suyan, having deployed a rocket launcher, nodded approvingly.

In response, Qi Lin scratched his cheek and offered a nervous laugh.

The two officers stepped forward, each seizing one of Qi Lin’s hands, preparing to escort him back to the bureau.

“Uncles, you really don’t need to look at me like that, honestly. I won’t run!” As he was led out of the park, Qi Lin grinned sheepishly.

“…Call me ‘Brother.’ I’m only in my early twenties…” Catching sight of Li Sijia and the commercial van in the distance, Lu Ren cast a sidelong glance at Qi Lin.

“Oh, oh, alright, alright, I…” Qi Lin nodded hastily, then froze.

With a choked gasp, he coughed up a mouthful of dark, clotted blood.

“Hey, hey? What’s wrong with you?” Seeing Qi Lin vomit blood, Lu Ren’s heart tightened. Given the recent precedent with the Stowaway, he feared this young man might pull a similar stunt.

“My heart… it hurts so much…” Doubling over, Qi Lin clutched his chest, crying out in pain.

“Hey, you…” Lu Ren started to inquire, but was abruptly pulled back.

Puzzled, Lu Ren looked at Zhao Suyan, who had grasped his arm.

“Run!”

Zhao Suyan offered no explanation, merely uttering the word before yanking Lu Ren along and sprinting towards the commercial van.

No sooner had the two men covered a few meters than a thunderous roar erupted behind them.

Once the roar subsided, Lu Ren, once again covered in dust and prostrate on the ground, scrambled to his feet. “Damn it, those two must be working together! Their tricks are identical!”

Having spoken, Lu Ren, who had shrunk back to his original size, believing the matter resolved, once more began to swell. This time, he became a ten-meter-tall giant.

Gritting his teeth, he and Zhao Suyan stared intently into the dissipating smoke, Lu Ren already bristling with an eagerness to strike.

As the smoke finally cleared, Qi Lin’s form became visible within.

“Ah!!!”

Kneeling on the ground, a pair of bat-like wings now unfurling from his back, Qi Lin threw his head back and let out a tortured howl.

“What’s happening?!”

Lu Ren was utterly bewildered; this situation felt profoundly wrong.

“Lu Ren, this isn’t good!” By the commercial van, Li Sijia suddenly cried out.

Hearing her, Zhao Suyan and Lu Ren turned their attention to Li Sijia.

Meeting their bewildered expressions, Li Sijia explained, “Information just came in from the bureau. Sky Eye has detected a new spatial rift, and its location is right here! What’s more, this one is extremely powerful!”
