With a silent exclamation, Ketia nudged the horse’s flank with his heel.
The white horse neighed in response to Ketia, then quickened its pace.

Snowflakes had begun to drift down from the sky at some unknown moment, and the vast grasslands had long since vanished from sight.
Inside the cage, Qi Lin, her petite frame bundled in several fur coats that made her appear slightly bulky, lifted her head and let out a resounding sneeze into the air.
“Is it truly this cold already?”
Hugging her knees, Qi Lin shivered as she murmured softly.
“Yes, my elders told me that this level of cold is still mild within Candirac’s territory.
If we continue onward, the weather will become even more frigid.
The chill we feel now, compared to what lies ahead, will likely feel like warmth.”
Ailin, also wrapped in several fur coats, exhaled a warm breath onto his hands, which had stiffened from the cold, before addressing Qi Lin.
“When should we use the potion?”
Curled up against the bars, Nia twitched her ears as she inquired.
“It’s far too early to use it now.”
Shaking his head, Ailin began to rub his hands together.
“We are currently only on the outskirts of Candirac.
If we consume the potion now, it will be unavailable for the remainder of the journey.
As for when to use it, I believe the ideal time is upon reaching the central region of Candirac.
Of course, if you truly cannot bear the cold any longer, you may use it now.”
“Hah, ah-choo~”
Nia sneezed, then sniffled.
“In that case, let’s hold off.
I can still endure it for now; we can reconsider once we reach the central region.”
Having spoken, Nia pulled her coat tighter around herself.
Ailin sighed, observing Qi Lin and Nia’s shivering forms.
Shifting his gaze from the two, Ailin looked towards Ketia ahead.
“Hey, you up front.”
“Is something amiss?”
Ketia’s tone was indifferent as he responded to the voice from behind him.
“We’re practically freezing to death out here.
We’d like to start a fire, but these mana-suppressing shackles you’ve put on us prevent us from casting any spells.
So, could you perhaps conjure some fire for us?”
Exhaling a puff of warm air, Ailin frowned as he continued.
“Surely you wouldn’t want us to perish from the cold before reaching the Imperial Capital, leaving you unable to report back to that fellow named Novas, would you?”
“…”
Ketia fell silent for a few seconds.
“Are you threatening me?”
“No, I am merely stating the facts!”
Spreading his hands, Ailin shrugged.
“…I understand, you wretched beastman brat.”
With a curt reply, Ketia extended his left hand and began tracing something in the empty air.
Swiftly, a fist-sized circular magic sigil, adorned with fiery imagery, materialized on Ketia’s left hand.
“Burn!”
As he softly intoned the word, the magic array on Ketia’s left hand shattered like glass, then burst into roaring flames.
“Here’s your fire!”
Uttering a remark to those behind him, Ketia flung the flames from his hand directly at them.
Upon seeing the incoming flames, Ailin’s pupils contracted, and he immediately rolled on the ground to evade them.
“Whoa, what are you doing?”
Scrambling to his feet, Ailin glared at Ketia, his teeth gritted.
“Nothing, merely giving you fire.”
“You bastard!”
Ailin clenched his fists.
Ketia paid him no mind, riding on in silence.
‘Hmph, you dared to threaten me; this is what you deserve.’
After glaring at Ketia through gritted teeth for a moment, Ailin shifted his gaze to the flames that had drifted into the cage and now floated there.
“Tsk, at least he gave us fire!”
Ailin clicked his tongue, then walked towards the floating flames.
Cupping the hovering flames in his hands, Ailin approached Nia and Qi Lin.
Feeling the temperature rise, Qi Lin and Nia opened their eyes, which had, at some point, become covered with tiny specks of frost.
“Mmm~ It’s a bit warmer now!”
Gazing directly at the flames in Ailin’s hands, Qi Lin let out a comfortable murmur.
“Our mana is sealed, so did that knight give us this fire?”
Rising from the ground, Nia asked with a puzzled expression.
In response, Ailin nodded, confirming Nia’s correct guess.
“Whew, no matter who provided it, this has saved my life!”
Qi Lin extended her hands, placing them near the surface of the flames, and spoke as she felt the pulsating warmth.
After speaking, a wave of melancholy washed over Qi Lin.
‘Becoming a Bloodline and being so susceptible to cold was something I hadn’t anticipated.’
‘Shouldn’t Bloodlines be impervious to cold?’
‘This contradicted all the information I’d encountered in books and online before my transmigration.’
‘From now on, I’ll have to steer clear of freezing cold places…’
‘Erm, well, it’s uncertain if there even *is* a “from now on.”‘
“What’s wrong, Qi Lin?”
Nia asked, observing Qi Lin lost in thought.
“Huh? Nothing, I was just wondering, if the outskirts are already this frigid, will the central region, or even the distant Imperial Capital, be cold enough to turn us into popsicles?”
Standing up and stretching her small frame, Qi Lin remarked.
“That’s precisely why I said using the mana potion now would be detrimental to the rest of our journey.”
Ailin gently said, lowering his hands, allowing the flames to float naturally.
Just as the three were conversing, the prison carriage suddenly jolted and swayed violently.
Unprepared, the three tumbled to the ground.
“Hey, you up front, what just happened?”
Once the shaking subsided, Ailin rubbed his ear and stood up.
“Nothing, I merely halted the horse.”
Glancing at Ailin, Ketia said softly.
“Furthermore, I must admit, the fact that you three can still chat so casually truly shows a complete lack of tension.”
“Heh, our mana is sealed.
We are now lambs awaiting slaughter.
What good would resistance do but invite more suffering?”
Qi Lin let out a self-deprecating laugh.
However, this particular smile looked subtly incongruous on the face of a petite Maiden, reminiscent of a loli.
Fortunately, no one’s gaze was currently fixed on the Maiden’s face, and the smile vanished as quickly as it appeared.
“What you said… is actually quite accurate.”
Turning his head slightly, Ketia gazed calmly at Qi Lin.
“We are about to cross the borderlands and enter the central region.
I presume that since you dared to venture into Candirac’s territory, you must have prepared mana potions with cold resistance.
If you genuinely possess such potions, you should drink them quickly now.
Otherwise, they will be discovered during a search and confiscated by those individuals.
Once we officially enter the central region, I will not concern myself with whether you freeze to death.”
Though he uttered these words, even he didn’t truly believe them, otherwise he wouldn’t have given them the fire earlier.
“A search?”
Nia questioned, perplexed.
Ailin, however, suddenly looked enlightened, and his expression grew urgent.
“What’s wrong?”
Qi Lin asked, confused, seeing Ailin beginning to rummage for something.
“Hey, I’m restrained and can’t use mana, so how am I supposed to retrieve the mana potions?”
Without answering Qi Lin, Ailin rushed to the front, gripped the bars, and shouted at Ketia.
“Troublesome.”
Despite his clearly annoyed expression, Ketia walked to the side of the cage, separated from Ailin by a single iron bar.
After all, he genuinely did not wish for the people His Majesty had captured to die under his watch.
“Extend your hand.”
Upon hearing Ketia’s words, Ailin, despite his disgruntled expression, obediently extended his hand.
Gripping Ailin’s hand, Ketia transferred a stream of mana into Ailin’s body.
Feeling the faint surge of mana within him, Ailin seized the moment, just before the shackles’ runes could flash, to retrieve the mana potion from his mana space.
The moment the potion abruptly appeared in his hand, the surging mana within his body simultaneously settled back into tranquility.
Pursing his lips, Ailin pulled back his hand from Ketia’s grasp.
“If you intend to drink it, do so quickly.
Once they arrive, you will truly be frozen solid all the way to His Majesty’s presence.”
Turning around, Ketia looked down at the several figures flying towards them from below, and addressed those behind him.
“Even if you hadn’t said anything, I would have known.”
With a cold expression, Ailin uncorked the potion bottle.
