Chapter 55: The Lustful Ghoul and the Thunder Kun Birds

Julia must be joking, right? She has to be.

Haha, it’s just a joke. How could it be true?

We’re like brothers! How could he possibly do such a thing? Besides, there’s no way I’d have absolutely no memory of it.

Wait, though… I do remember a dog licking me yesterday.

Could it be?!

Ellis, her hand trembling, pointed at Larry and demanded, “You’re that dog?!”

Julia, Irene, and Larry exchanged a silent glance.

Larry had no idea how to answer Ellis’s question, but he knew with certainty that he was not a dog. He decisively shook his head.

Ellis was bewildered once more. If Larry wasn’t that dog, there shouldn’t have been any other creature, should there?

Meanwhile, Julia, seeing the situation, was about to offer another reminder. To prevent her from once again blurting out some shocking revelation wildly divergent from the truth, Larry preemptively confessed his transgression.

“I merely licked your foot last night, just once, at your request, with the intention of fulfilling your wish! Only that one time!”

Larry blurted out the truth without a second thought, and in that moment, time itself seemed to stop flowing.

Approximately two or three seconds later, the expressions on everyone’s faces finally shifted. Julia and Irene wore looks of utter disdain and contempt, while Larry was consumed by the regret of realizing what foolish words he had just uttered. As for Ellis… her time was still frozen.

‘Gulp.’

Larry cautiously swallowed, slowly inching his backside off the chair. His face remained fixed, but his body began to subtly shift towards the door.

“And you still claim you’re not that dog!”

It was in this eerie atmosphere that a furious roar, comparable to the thunder rumbling outside, shattered the frozen space.

Larry abandoned all caution, breaking into a sprint, intent on making his escape.

“Get down!”

As if a two-hundred-pound had suddenly landed on his back, Larry was instantly pinned to the ground. He was now barely a hand’s breadth from the doorway.

Ellis’s body trembled, and in her grasp was Mitchell.

“Oh, my long-legged young lady! I knew all along this fellow harbored ill intentions towards you! I’m practically dying of envy, consumed by jealousy! I was the demon most obsessed with those beautiful legs, yet this stinky brat managed to get ahead of me.”

Uttering such perverse remarks, Mitchell broke free from Ellis’s grip and flew to the height of her thigh, beginning to rub its staff against it.

“Ah, these pristine, long legs, this exquisite visual pleasure, this delightful tactile sensation—I’m practically in ecstasy. I could revel in these peerless legs for countless eons, devising endless ways to… Ah!!!”

Mitchell couldn’t finish its perverted declaration before Ellis stomped it firmly into the ground with her foot, grinding and pressing it repeatedly.

“Birds of a feather! You useless, incompetent, perverted fire poker, obsessed with depravity all day long! Did you appear in this world solely to be the antithesis of all things beautiful?!”

Ellis planted one foot firmly in the middle of Mitchell’s staff, then gripped both ends with her hands, straining with all her might to snap it in two.

“Ooh, ooh, ooh! It’s going to break, it’s going to break! I’m sorry, my domineering young lady, my very existence in this world is a mistake! I’m truly a worthless piece of trash! Ow, ow, ow!”

Amidst Mitchell’s heart-wrenching yet undeniably excited wails, Larry was slowly crawling his way out.

‘Mitchell, my brother, I will remember your great sacrifice!’

However, Larry had vastly underestimated the depth of Ellis’s resentment towards him.

Catching sight of Larry’s actions, Ellis, like discarding trash, flung Mitchell directly into the waste bin behind her. Then, with a swift lunge, she arrived beside Larry and stomped a foot onto his back.

“Where do you think you’re going, you maggot?”

“The world is vast, and I wish to see it.”

“No hope for that, not in this lifetime! You like licking, do you? You like these legs, do you? You like these feet, do you? I’ll show you their other uses!”

Ellis unleashed her ‘Death Stomp,’ dealing critical damage to Larry with exceptional effectiveness. Larry ‘perished.’

After a round of both physical and mental torment, Ellis finally calmed down. The ‘Lustful Ghoul’ (a title Ellis had bestowed upon him) Larry was now truly hog-tied and tossed onto the table, serving as a bargaining chip.

“Here’s the merchandise. Give me the medicine.”

Julia, feigning inspection, verified the ‘goods’ before replying, “Merchandise received. However, I can’t give you the medicine just yet.”

Ellis frowned, asking, “Why not?”

“Because I’m missing some ingredients.”

“What are they?”

“They’re Thunderclap Nethergrass. I’ve been experimenting with some things recently, which led to a shortage of this material.”

Ellis’s fingers gently tapped the table as she inquired, “Is that difficult to acquire? When can it be delivered?”

Julia hesitated slightly, “It’s not exactly difficult, nor is it easy. It’s actually right on this mountain, and there should be plenty of it up there.”

Ellis eagerly declared, “Then let’s go get it quickly!”

“Now is hardly a good time to visit the Spanlam Mountains, though.”

Julia walked to the window and gazed at the sky. Despite it being midday, the heavens were dark and gloomy, with occasional streaks of lightning snaking through the ominous clouds, letting out deafening roars.

“The Spanlam Mountains experience a thunder period lasting several months each year. During this time, powerful bolts of lightning continuously strike the summit region. The lightning strikes are completely random, making it impossible to predict their landing points; one can only react and dodge them in the instant they descend.”

Ellis scoffed, “It’s merely a few lightning strikes…”

“If only it were just a few lightning strikes,” Irene sighed, explaining, “Every year around this time, a large number of Thunder Kun Birds migrate here to lay and hatch their eggs, utilizing the lightning of the thunder period. By now, the mountain peak should have become a forbidden zone, claimed by the Thunder Kun Birds. They are extremely protective birds, especially of their young. If we were to go up now, we’d likely be surrounded and attacked by them.”

“So, it’s better to patiently wait for three months until the thunder period ends…”

What?!

Three months!

Given Larry’s current insatiable lust, if they weren’t careful, he might even have children in three months!

Ellis abruptly stood up, declaring, “Absolutely not.”

Seeing Ellis’s intense reaction, Julia and Irene were somewhat perplexed.

Irene asked, puzzled, “Why the rush?”

“Because!!!”

Ellis’s face flushed crimson, the true reason ultimately too embarrassing to voice.

“Because I can no longer tolerate my current appearance! Besides, they’re just a measly flock of B-rank elemental beasts. What’s there to be afraid of? If anything happens, we’ve even got bait!”

Ellis patted Larry, who was still on the table. Larry thrashed about excitedly, only able to emit muffled buzzing sounds since his mouth was gagged.

Julia also patted Larry, asking, “Isn’t he our trade item? Did you consider our feelings before taking him as bait?”

“Our transaction isn’t complete yet. He’s still my property.”

Ellis directly pulled Larry closer to her, a cold smirk on her face. “Don’t worry, I don’t intend to use him as a disposable item. I’ll still trade him to you properly afterward.”

Julia and Irene exchanged a glance, then nodded. “Alright, it’s a deal. We’ll depart tonight.”

Ellis asked, confused, “Why wait until night?”

“Thunder Kun Birds rest at night; daytime is when they are most active. Even if you have the strength, you wouldn’t want to be surrounded and beaten by hundreds of Thunder Kun Birds, would you?”

Ellis imagined such a pitiful scenario and decisively shook her head. “Alright, we’ll set off tonight!”

“Ellis, are we really going now? Isn’t it too dangerous? Although Thunder Kun Birds are B-rank, the Thunder Kun Bird King is an A-rank elemental beast.”

Along the way, Larry, who had resigned himself to being bait and showed good remorse, had his restraints removed. Now, he was anxiously trying to dissuade Ellis.

While the ranks of elemental beasts and adventurers seemed to correspond one-to-one, in reality, elemental beasts were stronger at the same rank.

Larry might not fear elemental beasts below A-rank, but an A-rank elemental beast could pose a life-threatening danger to them.

“Please, you’re being overly cautious. If two S-rank adventurers like us were scared into stopping by an A-rank elemental beast, the adventurer’s guild would laugh at us for an entire year if word got out.”

Ellis, however, seemed utterly unconcerned. Just then, a bolt of lightning struck, aimed directly at the four of them.

But the lightning whip did not hit Ellis and her companions; instead, it dissipated without a trace upon encountering an invisible barrier.

This air wall was Ellis’s barrier. Even the thunder, which made life tremble in fear in the natural world, seemed as laughable as falling flower petals before her.

Julia and Irene breathed a sigh of relief.

If they had urgent business requiring them to ascend the mountain, they would undoubtedly devise various methods to evade these deadly lightning bolts. Having Ellis as their ‘umbrella’ made things incredibly convenient.

Their movements became more relaxed.

“That’s Thunderclap Grass! Ellis, wait a moment before we go!” [Julia]

“Isn’t this Thunder-Scorched Stone?! Little Sparky loves to grind its teeth on it! Ellis, wait, just a moment!” [Irene]

“Wow, Thunder Root Tree Resin! This is a valuable find, only available during the thunder period! Wait!”

“Ellis, wait…”

“Wait…”

“You two… don’t push your luck!”

Flames burned in Ellis’s eyes. What was supposed to be a three-hour journey had already consumed two hours, yet they hadn’t even reached halfway.

A sinister black aura emanated from Ellis as she lifted them like small chickens.

Julia and Irene each carried a large pack, filled with precious materials collected during this period—items only found during the thunder season.

“You two wouldn’t happen to be treating me like a mere tool, would you?”

Ellis asked coldly, “If we get to the mountain and I find there’s nothing I need there, hehehehe!”

Ellis’s chilling laughter sent shivers down the two women’s spines. They vigorously shook their heads, denying any deception.

“It had better be. From now on, if you dare to deviate from the designated route again, you die!”

Ellis released the two women, who immediately scurried to the front, finally beginning to lead the way seriously.

Behind them, Larry suddenly burst into laughter. “Haha, they’re just like they used to be.”
